Look at it this way. You finally accepted McLouth staying with the Braves next season. You will, eventually, accept Coughlin staying with the Giants. I find you to be pretty resilient in that way.

ward, I know nothing about baseball cards. I know that I had some Hank Aaron with the Milwaukee Braves. And many others. They were all cards from my childhood, probably stashed away in my parents’ basement. Do those carry much value? If so, the next time I am at home, I should go rummaging.

I inherited a shoe box filled with cards of my father’s, from mostly 1961 – era. He used to “pitch” cards, but never any of the Braves’. He also traded for the Braves.
He has (had) several Aaron cards. Also, Mathews and Spahn, among all the other Braves that played back then.
I never checked on their value, but if you find out what the Aaron cards are worth, pass it along.

I actually am not worried about the NFC west and records – but kinda ironic that after having all those winning seasons recently with USC he ended up with a losing season with the Seahawks and still goes to the postseason. Actually i dont know what I am saying. Am not even sure I have a point here. That’s nothing new though.
I guess I am just a little pleased that the dubious distinction of their record will always be associated with Carroll.

Any regular card after ‘86, don’t bother storing. Ain’t worth, won’t ever be worth…
Anybody with ’50s or ’60s (or if you’re as old as VJ) cards ought to, if they’re at all concerned with preserving value, ensure the cards are stored in a dry place, that moths/rats/humidity/etc, can’t attack them. All they are is cardboard, and unattended basement/attic cardboard is an attractive target for a multitude of predators…
Value is, in nearly all cases, 95% condition. Just like coins/stamps. If you’ve got ‘em, protect ‘em…

Today, I went to see ‘Black Swan’. My first time to see a film in a theater, since February (classic French film). Eleven months since seeing a new release (a Hindi film). And a full twelve months, since seeing a Hollywood film. So admittedly, not up to speed. I have heard so much hype, that I was expecting Godard directing Ingrid Bergman, or some such.
I really liked Natalie Portman and thought she did a good job. But, overall, I was disappointed in the film. It was far, too, reductively Nietzschean in its understanding of art. (And I am a fan of Nietzsche.) It was far too cliched in its portrayals of schizophrenia. Dialogues bordered on trite. Barbara Hershey was too one-dimensional. It had great potential and a wonderful performance. But as a film, it just was underwhelming.

Back in the early 90’s, my father had some of his cards appraised. He has about a half dozen Aaron cards, and they were, obviously, worth the most. If I remember correctly, about $160 per card, almost 20 years ago.
BAS
The shoe box holding the cards is well wrapped up with plastic and in an old cigar humidor (I think that’s what it’s called). The biggest pain in checking out their value is that the “list” is wrapped up with the cards.
I suppose that I’ll just have to unwrap everything and grab the list. It’ll only take a minute to make a copy and then put the list back. For the most part, it’s out of sight and out of mind.

Not watching – too late at night to do that. But saw the scorecard this morning. It does seem like a tame start after the victory at Durban. But I guess once Kallis falls, things might go differently.
I think this test might end in a draw, since it is not known to be as much of a bowler’s pitch as Durban. Supposed to take some turn later and so that might be interesting. Nice series though. Top teams and a good contest.
