I kinda like the Patriots. I think Tom Brady and Wes Welker have something to do with that…
January 2nd, 20113:57 pm
cab adores Tom Brady.
Welker’s good – always liked him.
January 2nd, 20113:58 pm
I’ve liked the Patriots since ex UGA quarterback Andy Johnson was a running back for them.
January 2nd, 20114:02 pm
So, what is the purpose of punting on 4th and 1 with 2:00 left in the fourt quarter if you have a chance to get a first down and a possible touch down? Last week Falcons did it and today the Saints just did it.
January 2nd, 20114:04 pm
That’s the kind of comment that can get your invite (and your skittles) revoked
January 2nd, 20114:08 pm
Lets see, Atlanta has a good chance this year for all 4 of our major sports teams to make the playoffs. Wow, have we come a long way.
cab, don’t you wish your boy got to play in his last game today?
It was a generation ago, but Andy Johnson was the best pure athlete I ever saw. He was drafted by the Braves even though they knew he was going to play QB for UGA.
January 2nd, 20114:10 pm
Soph has just been unfriended
January 2nd, 20114:15 pm
… Tom O’ Hwake: Good luck with your Packers today. Hope my Giants win, but if they don’t make it today. Good luck with your Packers…
Thanks, wrad. I’m not taking the Bears lightly at all, and I’m sure the Packers aren’t either. Good luck to your, and VJ’s Giants.
You and VJ would probably like to change locations with me for the next 3 hours. The main game on Fox is the Bears/Packers. However, for me it’s the Giants/Redskins. Have to watch it on computer.
January 2nd, 20114:18 pm
I’ll make new friends.
January 2nd, 20114:19 pm
Hi! We have dueling computers going right now so we can both “watch” our games
Maybe I was a little harsh…
January 2nd, 20114:22 pm
I don’t have a problem with the Patriots either, Soph.
It’s okay, cab. Your man threatened to defriend me the other day. I’m used to it.
January 2nd, 20114:23 pm
Ready for the playoffs, Bat? It’ll be nice having that bye week and homefield throughout. I can’t wait.
Motown’s coming back!!!
January 2nd, 20114:25 pm
January 2nd, 20114:26 pm
I don’t like Jay Cutler. He acts like an ass.
I’m ready, Soph. Yeah at home and a bye, not to mention a defense that looks good enough to beat anybody.
January 2nd, 20114:38 pm
….the “process” continues…..
January 2nd, 20114:39 pm
January 2nd, 20114:42 pm
January 2nd, 20114:43 pm
But he’s from the SEC. Ergo, he’s greater than any other quarterback in the NFL save Tebow and the Mannings.
January 2nd, 20114:45 pm
yeah, but Cutler went to Vandy…that hardly counts
January 2nd, 20114:46 pm
and don’t forget about Rex Grossman…
January 2nd, 20114:48 pm
And Jason Campbell
January 2nd, 20114:50 pm
The Niners are winning! THE NINERS ARE WINNING! (Ok, they are playing the Cardinals, but still… and what does it say that I keep subconsciously keep typing “Noners” instead of “Niners?”)
January 2nd, 20114:52 pm
Eli, Eli, Eli…
January 2nd, 20114:53 pm
Arizona has -14 total yards (including -27 passing yards) and the QB has been sacked 3 times…there is 3:19 left in the 1st quarter…be glad you are not Cardinals fans!
Guess it’s just us history majors
the more the merrier, jeffrey!
January 2nd, 20114:55 pm
Eh, it’s bad but they got to go to the Super Bowl a few years ago so they’ll be okay.
January 2nd, 20114:56 pm
I think they passed “bad” a few weeks ago and are headed right for “Carolina” territory
January 2nd, 20115:14 pm
Alright, so I was a little curious and tallied up the number of 2010 NFL QB starters by conference. I went with the main starter, so even though Whitehurst is starting for the Seahawks, I counted Hasselbeck as the starter.
SEC – 7
Pac – 6
Other – 6
ACC – 5
Big 10 – 4
Big 12 – 3
Ivy – 1
January 2nd, 20115:15 pm
does that include Grossman? Because he’s not actually the “main” starter…
January 2nd, 20115:16 pm
So far, so good for the Giants – come on, Bears!
January 2nd, 20115:17 pm
Although Hasselbeck/Whitehurst didn’t matter since they were both ACC. Same with Favre/T. Jackson.
“Other” includes small schools, Notre Dame, and non-BCS conferences. It includes East Carolina, Deleware, ND, etc.
January 2nd, 20115:18 pm
Not to nitpick, but Favre is not ACC…
January 2nd, 20115:19 pm
or did you mean same conference? Sorry…I just realized I have no idea where Tavaris Jackson went to school…
Wasn’t McNabb was benched? Since it’s suckiness and not injury, I counted Grossman.
Tebow/Orton, however, I wasn’t sure….because I can see the Broncos going with Tebow as their main starter next year. If you’re anti-SEC, though, you can take one away from the SEC and add one to the Big 10
January 2nd, 20115:20 pm
CAB – Favre went to Southern Miss, and T-Jackson went to Alabama State, so no matter who you count, it goes under “other”
January 2nd, 20115:21 pm
You did say “main” starters and McNabb has been that this season for the Redskins- but it’s your list (I do like it by the way- thanks!)
January 2nd, 20115:22 pm
I figured out that is what you meant
By “main” I guess I mean if everybody’s healthy, who would the team start today?
January 2nd, 20115:23 pm
works for me
January 2nd, 20115:24 pm
One big notable – there’s not one starting QB who comes from the Big East (unless you count McNabb)
January 2nd, 20115:30 pm
An excellent defensive effort allows the Redskins to score a TD with :22 left in the half…
January 2nd, 20115:40 pm
I hate it when we bore everyone off the blog…
January 2nd, 20115:41 pm
January 2nd, 20115:46 pm
Given that two of the three of us are sitting in the same room…
June 22 1941
January 2nd, 20115:47 pm
13 years and a day before a very important day for me…
January 2nd, 20115:48 pm
The invasion of Russia by Nazi Germany…
January 2nd, 20115:50 pm
Jamie Moyer’s MLB debut
I thought this was a baseball blog!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 2nd, 20115:52 pm
You’re right…why aren’t we discussing all the baseball games and happenings that have gone on today?
Rob from SC
Except for the Mets, the NL East is going to be tough.
January 2nd, 20115:53 pm
I hear the Hudsons saw “Tron” today
I’m guessing that would be your birthday VJ.
cab is correct
jeffery d may be also.
Longarm……….. baseball and WWll not much of a reach.
January 2nd, 20115:59 pm
I hear the Hudsons saw “Tron” today
Shouldn’t he be working out with Chipper.
January 2nd, 20116:01 pm
Hitler signs an agreement saying they won’t attack Russia, then just a couple years later, they come in and attack. It’s hard to believe stuff like this actually happened…it sounds like something out of WWE
I also believe that the German army subsisted on BBQ for the month of July, making it truly blogworthy…
January 2nd, 20116:02 pm
They can’t stop for a movie break?
“13 years and a day before a very important day for me…”
January 2nd, 20116:04 pm
Yes, Jim will be retiring on June 23, 1954.
So you don’t think the Soviets would have attacked Germany at some point?
No breaks……….. Yoga and stretching ……… not Yoda and popcorn
January 2nd, 20116:07 pm
The Soviets really had no reason to- they had their own sphere of power and agreements to basically divide Europe with Germany…
January 2nd, 20116:09 pm
“Yes, Jim will be retiring on June 23, 1954.”
Haha. Hard workin’ man, right there. If I were at that age; I woulda retired right after the wheel. Much respect, VJ!
January 2nd, 20116:11 pm
The curse of the 49ers…they can’t even suck properly. If they win today they will drop from 4th to 10th in the draft order…
January 2nd, 20116:18 pm
I have read some pretty good arguments that say the Soviets did have reason to. But also good reasons to wait. It’s easier to know what the Germans were up to than the Soviets.
January 2nd, 20116:20 pm
I think as the Germans inched closer to Russia, the desire to preemptively make a move became more of an option for the Soviets, but I guess we will never know for sure
January 2nd, 20116:22 pm
One advantage of cheering on a team I don’t care about (da Bears) is that I can enjoy the thrill certain bloggers here get from spewing expletives at players when they perform below my desires…or at an inexplicable time out…
January 2nd, 20116:24 pm
It shows how much I curse my team when I instantly thought VJ’s post was referring to me…
January 2nd, 20116:25 pm
VJ, you should root against the 49ers and for the Patriots!
January 2nd, 20116:26 pm
He’s too smart to root against my team
January 2nd, 20116:27 pm
Probably not, I think Putin has pretty much killed glasnost.
Trey – I have my own interests to be concerned with – right now want to beat Lovie Smith for that stupid time out…
cab, which would make it funnier. Well, at least in my eyes.
January 2nd, 20116:28 pm
Careful, she’ll unfriend you in a heart beat.
January 2nd, 20116:29 pm
Because the team plays better with PRADO leading off, or did I miss that last season? Never mess with a winning streak, and don’t juggle the line-up strictly based upon stats. rich
yeah and the year before that they were raving about how great an impact he made batting second,. he is more of a natural 2nd place hitter than leadoff hitter and McLouth is more the other way, but God forbid we should use any logic in the construction of the lineup
January 2nd, 20116:30 pm
Soph, haha she has to be a friend to unfriend.
I can’t unfriend anyone…no matter what I threaten It’s all talk…
January 2nd, 20116:31 pm
I was going to say something like that but I didn’t want to be mean to you
January 2nd, 20116:32 pm
“I was going to say something like that but I didn’t want to be mean to you ”
I woulda taken it as a compliment.
January 2nd, 20116:33 pm
Well then, she’ll sic her dog on you.
Well, damn, I can’t even get the quotation right.
January 2nd, 20116:34 pm
Yikes, VJ. Not looking good for your boys right now what with that GB score. Still plenty of time left though.
“Well then, she’ll sic her dog on you”
Haha, if her dog could get across coast; I’d be best quiet then!
If I can get her out from under her blankets in her bed…
January 2nd, 20116:37 pm
Is Trey birdoggin’ my hos?
January 2nd, 20116:43 pm
Sorry VJ…I picked GB in my 2010 NFL pool so I’m rooting for them
Mixxo, of course not!
January 2nd, 20116:45 pm
I should say I picked GB this week. You pick a team every week, and if they win, you win. You can only pick a team once for the season. I’m 13-3 so far
I am confused as to whether I want Teblow to succeed or not in the NFL… he seems like a great kid and just to see him do well so I could have everyone I know ring Colleen Cowturd’s show each day and gloat would be worth the downside of the fake adoration from the other media
January 2nd, 20116:46 pm
jeff d – that is fawesome
January 2nd, 20116:48 pm
Jake Cutler should be …
Let’s just say that I hope that the Bears find a way to lose next week (even though it is a bye week for them)…
January 2nd, 20116:49 pm
The Cardinals are so awful that I am actually finding myself somewhat uninterested in the rest of the 49ers game…this is a first for me…
January 2nd, 20116:50 pm
Anyway, I am heading out. Have a good one, folks.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
