Everybody have a good Christmas? This was actually one of the better ones I’ve had since I was a kid. Had a good time.
I just watched DOB’s video on us and the Phillies for next year. He talks southern, mid-western with a touch of Yankee talk. Maybe that’s just me and my imagination, who knows.
Nah, I have a trained dolphin that pulls my dingy and turns an old waterwheel like device that produces electricity. Cuba has a giant WiFi network I get free.
How could I leave off the worst gift of all! My girlfriends parents took us all to the movies as their Christmas gifts to us. What we saw? That new Narnia movie. Big time bore. I’m so sick of these digital movies anyways. They aren’t going anywhere though as long as they keep rollin in the money.

We couldn’t have had Uggla this year? I say that because having him in the middle of our lineup probably means we beat SF and maybe even Philly to head to the World Series. We were desperately missing Chipper and Prado’s production in that playoff series. Uggla could’ve made up for a lot of missed production.
Oh well, maybe we can string together 12,874 miracle comebacks again next season to punch in a playoff spot.
We’re out in Portland for a few days, then taking the train to Seattle on Tuesday. Portland’s a really cool, laid-back town, and someone forgot to tell them that record stores were dead — we went to three within a 10-block radius today, including two in The Pearl, cool neighborhood with terrific restaurants, bars and nightclubs — and did we mention record stories? Oh, a and a Doc Martens store.
Spent nearly two hours in Everyday Music, which is probably the only record store I’ve been in that has as selection of LPs and CDs as extensively as Amoeba in L.A. It’s a couple of blocks from Powell’s books — a bookstore literally the size of an entire city block.
Got a still-sealed copy of The Fabulous Johnny Cash LP and a Hank Williams as Luke The Drifter LP, Movin’ On. It was a good day.
MIBravesFan: Just saw you mentioned wanting to see The King’s Speech. We saw it tonight, just walked back to our hotel 15 minutes ago after seeing it here in downtown Portland. Great movie, and Colin Firth is every bit as good as you’ve heard. Oscar-worthy performance.
