It’s no problem. I’m glued to the computer/TV during the Winter Meetings and around the July 31st Trade Deadline. I’ll update whatever I see/hear.
Just looking this kid up again. Came across this video from this year. Amazing play.
lorenzo cain catch

#braves have made progress in uggla extension talks. He loves fredi and is said to be thrilled to be traded there.
31 minutes ago via web .#braves have the pieces for greinke but prefer to hold onto their young pitching studs.

JJ Putz is now a D-Back.
Probably their new closer. Per Ken R.
Brave4life- We almost had it
December 6th, 20106:16 pm
Lorenzo Cain firs hit was off of Venters
Terms aren’t known yet, but JJ Putz and D-Back’s have agreed to a contract.
December 6th, 20106:17 pm
Lorenzo Cain first hit
I only post it cause I thought it was funny it came against Braves.
Putz contract is a 2 Year Deal with a club option, pending physical.
December 6th, 20106:18 pm
D-Backs are without a doubt fixing their pitiful excuse of a bullpen from previous years.
would have liked to have Putz. He might regret that move to /zona B4 the season is over
December 6th, 20106:19 pm
It was actually off Dunn
December 6th, 20106:22 pm
I hope both Schafer and McLouth do well, so we can pop-up another Prado vs Kelly type debate. heh
December 6th, 20106:23 pm
Bama Brave, I meant no as in, No more dumb not ever gonna happen trade ideas.
December 6th, 20106:24 pm
hey Tater, ain’t seen you around in a while. hows trix?
December 6th, 20106:25 pm
ohhh okay lol
NC State Nate
December 6th, 20106:26 pm
Why would we not be in on Greinke, other than money?
December 6th, 20106:27 pm
Lorenzo Cain sounds like the name of a cop on some cheesy network drama that lasts 6 weeks
Sorry his first hit was off of Dunn.. the one he hit off Venters.. Diaz make a diving catch. go back and watch it again and see if I’m not right.
December 6th, 20106:28 pm
NC State Nate, hmmm, can give you 5 good reasons for that, the Answers are Lowe, Hudson, Hanson, Jurrjens and Minor/Beachy
December 6th, 20106:30 pm
the matt diaz catch of lorenzo cain was off a righty.
Joe thats right. The diving catch was off Venters and first hit off Dunn.
December 6th, 20106:31 pm
you don’t think Grienke is better than any of those guys, OJ?
So Minor and or Beachy is going to keep you from a CY Young in his prime?
December 6th, 20106:32 pm
Correction: Shmoe is right. Diving catch was off Kawakami or Saito. Can’t really tell.
Venters is a rightie now?
December 6th, 20106:33 pm
NC State Nate
I’m sure the money is main thing pushing Braves away from Grienke. He makes 13.5 next year. Plus hes coming off a year w/ an ERA over 4.
December 6th, 20106:34 pm
Those five players have absolutely nothing to do with the Braves lack of interest in Greinke. The Braves would have to give up Teheran or Delgado plus at least two other prospects.
Wren coming up on MLB Network
Frankie Wren on Hot Stove coming up next.
Frank Wren is gonna be on MLBN next. Get your DVR’s ready.
December 6th, 20106:35 pm
Frank Wren is supposed to be coming up on MLB Network.
The Roylas should have sold high on Grinke last year
they would have hauled in ton of talent
I’d trade Minor and Beachy for Grienke, but the money wont work and I think the Royals would want more.
December 6th, 20106:36 pm
Wren coming to MLB Net to announce the Sign of CLIFF LEE….WOW another surprise….
Hope not nolie..I was trying to read the name on his back not looking at r or l
December 6th, 20106:37 pm
They still have time to sell on Grienke. Hes signed for 13.5 this year and next. If he returns to form this year then they could pull in a large return at the deadline.
Did anyone hear anything about Frank Wren being on mlbnetwork?
December 6th, 20106:38 pm
Frank Wren is on now
December 6th, 20106:41 pm
Schafer wants back in a bad way – good for him. Hopefully, his bat will live up to its potential and the Braves gain a long term solution in CF.
If Cain comes to the Braves, Schafer is of no further value unless he moves to LF or is trade bait for someone else. This was Lorenzo Cain’s stat line combined between AA and AAA last year:
.317 avg / .402 OBP / .432 slugging / .834 OPS / 3HR and 26 SBs in just 331 ABs
The guy also posted 9 triples last year in those 331 ABs. He’s no super phenom but those stats are pretty good to me. His defense is outstanding as well. Personally, I’d take his speed and defense over Schafer’s every single day of the week.
December 6th, 20106:42 pm
I’d trade Minor and Beachy for Grienke Va
yeah but KC would just laugh atcha
December 6th, 20106:44 pm
I pretty much agree CHOP…I like Cain and he’s had no problems are broken bones.
Frank Wren , BP Lefty, Right Stick for OF, Utly INF
December 6th, 20106:45 pm
Wren basically said the focus is on fine tuning and mentioned….
* RH Outfielder
* Lefty In Bullpen
* Utility Player
Remember Jordan Schafer? CF is prepping for big return

December 6th, 20106:46 pm
Frank Wren is lazy. What? No more deals?!!
yeah i’m sure they would. Someone said they wouldnt trade those 2 for Grienke is why I responded.
December 6th, 20106:47 pm
I think Wren will aquire 1 of those postions he named. The others will be filled in house.
Harold Reynolds sounded like he was thinking we were about to get Crawford.
Oh no, the Phillies are talking about bringing back Cliff Lee. Well, so the MLB trade rumor site says.
December 6th, 20106:48 pm
That looked like DOB walking behind Pete G and Acta. Damn I believe it was.
Right stick will be Cain.
nolie – I’ve been reading, just haven’t had anything worthy to post. But, i’ma lookin’. : )
December 6th, 20106:49 pm
even Harold ain’t THAT delusional Andrew
Trey ….Phillis not have the Money…Payroll it to High now….
December 6th, 20106:50 pm
yeah Va, I know. was just razzin’ ya
just haven’t had anything worthy to post Tater

This tweet from Jerry Crasnick
‘A little tension between the Brewers and Braves, who thought center fielder Lorenzo Cain was available, and are now hearing he wasn’t’
Cain is not coming here guys, so stop worrying.
December 6th, 20106:51 pm
@jcrasnick A little tension between the Brewers and Braves, who thought center fielder Lorenzo Cain was available, and are now hearing he wasn’t
The chance of Phillis acquire Lee is the Same of the Braves sign him….Cero…Zip…Nada
alot of Clubs still looking for pitching will be call Wren. Deals and thrills at any time.
I agree Andrew.
More from Crasnick
‘Milwaukee GM Doug Melvin said Cain called a team scout and was “all worried” after hearing his name in trade rumors.’
‘”We have to be open to any players.,” Melvin said. “But we feel very good about Lorenzo Cain being our center fielder.”’

There trying to get Minor.

Went from being set for winter with Uggla to lets get EVERYONE!!! I love baseball blogs. You can never stop improving especially the Mclouth/Schafer & company. I dislike our CF situation
Somebody does? The only defense we had out there last year left on the cut-train going out of town.
Schafer could be the feel good story of 2011. If he is simply good as one of four Braves’ outfielders, he solves a lot of problems and gives Freddi lots of options. As DOB is wont to break out in song, I am wont to break out in jingle (to the tune of a golden oldie NYC commercial for Schaefer beer:
“Scha-fer is the one peer to have
When you’re having more than one
Scha-fer pleasure never ends
Even when the game is done.
The most rewarding treasure in this man’s world
Is for people having fun
Scha-fer is the one peer to have
When you’re having more than one”.
One of Schaefer beer’s earlier themes will hopefully come true for Jordan Schafer: “Our hand (and wrist) has never (permanently) lost its skill”.
Lift one for Jordan (and DOB): “Cheers and the best of luck”
December 6th, 20106:53 pm
Cain shouldn’t be worried, he’s coming home.
‘Not sure how much there is to this, but one scout said the Brewers might be holding back Cain as possible chip in a Zack Greinke trade.’
So if the Brewers could possibly want Greinke for Cain, what would they want from us?
its cool that the Braves were investigating that kind of possibility though
December 6th, 20106:54 pm
jcrasnick: Not sure how much there is to this, but one scout said the Brewers might be holding back Cain as possible chip in a Zack Greinke trade.
Justin Upton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Atlanta Braves 2011 World Series Champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
December 6th, 20106:55 pm
haha Andrew, one after the other, and John, STHU!
December 6th, 20106:56 pm
HaHa sorry im always late
December 6th, 20106:57 pm
Oh boy. Let the annual Ron Mahay love fest begin. Mark Bowman says on mlb.com that he’s one player that Atlanta may target for the “one more lefthander” in the bullpen spot.
Andrew, what do you use for Twitter? I use this program called Tweet Deck, it lets me surf and do other things on the computer and when there is a tweet, it pops up over whatever else i am doing up in the right hand corner
December 6th, 20106:58 pm
Nice Post DOB!, Any chance Schafer takes over before the Allstar Break? And if not any chance we make a run at Carlos Beltran?
December 6th, 20106:59 pm
O.J. i just use my Ipod Touch for Twitter.
Lorenzo cain rumors heating up
December 6th, 20107:02 pm
Brewers just trying to sweetin’ the pot.
December 6th, 20107:04 pm
Ron Mahay for Cy Young in 2011 (if they Braves do indeed pick him up… otherwise he’ll suck)
December 6th, 20107:05 pm
Of course the Braves aren’t pursuing Greinke….it would make too much sense.
December 6th, 20107:07 pm
I wouldn’t mind a Cain trade at all. We have a lot of young pitching but lack in the prospect department. Theres only so many guys who can go into a starting rotation.
December 6th, 20107:08 pm
I figured the lefty relievers they’d look into would be Mahay or Ohman.
not sure what sense that would be njb
December 6th, 20107:10 pm
Cain lives 8 miles from J D Drew family in Valdosta. He was worried about going to Royals. He has told friend in Valdosta he would love to play with Braves. He works out with the Drew boys in the winter. per a friend in Valdosta. I’m repeating what I was told.
December 6th, 20107:12 pm
Lorenzo Cain first Hit

Lorenzo cain rumors heating up
Where did you read this
From Bowman, quoting Wren:
“”I don’t think anything came out this morning that was earth-shattering,” Wren said. “But there were a couple of things we want to pursue and see if there are any legs to them when we get to the other club.”
December 6th, 20107:15 pm
I said yesterday and still think FW will make a bigger than expected trade. Greinke? No. But, I wouldn’t be surprised if he pulls something off.
December 6th, 20107:16 pm
Who’s Lorenzo Cain?….Is this Horacio Brother?…..
December 6th, 20107:19 pm
jorgearangure: Agent Scott Shapiro says OF Leonis Martin,22,considered best position prospect out of Cuba in years,in Mexico and should be declared FA soon
December 6th, 20107:30 pm
What is the chance the Atlanta could make a trade with Arizona for SS Stephen Drew? It would help defensively and offensively. There are plenty of prospects along with Gonzalez that could be traded to get him.
I’m not sure why everyone is thinking a blockbuster deal is coming our way. I thought we were set.
DOB, your timing is perfect for this blog. This is a perfect pick-me-up. But…
I have no doubt he’s going to be 110 percent for spring training this year. –Troy Jones
That’s a horrible thing to say! Don’t imply that he’s doing better than he can. Poor kid is already living under a hormonal cloud…
December 6th, 20107:32 pm
Lorenzo is Matt Cain’s brother.
December 6th, 20107:34 pm
“Cain lives 8 miles from J D Drew family in Valdosta.”
Unfortunate for Cain. He’s probably been corrupted by Just the Dollars Drew. Keep Schafer if that’s the case.
I’ve seen more positive comments on the kid today than I have in the previous 18 months ncscoots
Nice change of pace, if you ask me…
Lorenzo must be Matt’s brother from another mother >_>
December 6th, 20107:35 pm
Ken R tweeted saying Cardinals are looking to trade Brendan Ryan. Could he be a target?
December 6th, 20107:37 pm
69 days before pitchers and catchers report!
December 6th, 20107:38 pm
