#braves have made progress in uggla extension talks. He loves fredi and is said to be thrilled to be traded there.

I’m sure the money is main thing pushing Braves away from Grienke. He makes 13.5 next year. Plus hes coming off a year w/ an ERA over 4.

Those five players have absolutely nothing to do with the Braves lack of interest in Greinke. The Braves would have to give up Teheran or Delgado plus at least two other prospects.

They still have time to sell on Grienke. Hes signed for 13.5 this year and next. If he returns to form this year then they could pull in a large return at the deadline.

Schafer wants back in a bad way – good for him. Hopefully, his bat will live up to its potential and the Braves gain a long term solution in CF.

If Cain comes to the Braves, Schafer is of no further value unless he moves to LF or is trade bait for someone else. This was Lorenzo Cain’s stat line combined between AA and AAA last year:
.317 avg / .402 OBP / .432 slugging / .834 OPS / 3HR and 26 SBs in just 331 ABs
The guy also posted 9 triples last year in those 331 ABs. He’s no super phenom but those stats are pretty good to me. His defense is outstanding as well. Personally, I’d take his speed and defense over Schafer’s every single day of the week.

Schafer could be the feel good story of 2011. If he is simply good as one of four Braves’ outfielders, he solves a lot of problems and gives Freddi lots of options. As DOB is wont to break out in song, I am wont to break out in jingle (to the tune of a golden oldie NYC commercial for Schaefer beer:
“Scha-fer is the one peer to have

Cain lives 8 miles from J D Drew family in Valdosta. He was worried about going to Royals. He has told friend in Valdosta he would love to play with Braves. He works out with the Drew boys in the winter. per a friend in Valdosta. I’m repeating what I was told.
