Hey DOB
Do you know what the return policy is in MLB? Can we return McClouth back to the Pirates for McCutchen? And tell them we thought we were getting the other Mc? Just kidding!! On on serious note , Andruw Jones would be really affordable and could at the worst case be a right handed stick off the bench… I believe he can put up some descent numbers and could play a good CF since he has seen his Fat Albert days behind him.. And he still is only 33 yrs old…Will you ask Fren Wren for me tell him Kerry wanted to know.. Thanks!!

Dumbo, you are right about Chipper’s best days being behind him. But, just as the Yankees have done with Jeter, the Braves have to play him (and his $14 MM contract) if he’s healthy. He IS the face of the franchise (no disrespect to Bmac or JHey)

Damn right I am a Chipper fan, and I am in no way apologetic about it. It is astounding to me that someone could actually claim to be a Braves fan and rip on Chipper in the same breath. He has been the heart and soul of this team for a very long time.
I hated when they traded Dale Murphy. I wasn’t happy when they let Aaron go, but that was more a case of acceding to his wishes. It’s very rare to have a player now who remains with the team for his entire career and is successful enough to become the face of the franchise.
Yes, it’s a business. They proved that with Smoltz and Glavine. Doesn’t matter. Chipper has earned the right to stay. Is he as fearsome at the plate as he once was? No. Is he as good defensively as he once was? No. Is he still a leader and a presence in the clubhouse? You betcha.
Is he anywhere near as horrible as some of the trolls and posters would have us believe? Absolutely not. Has he earned the right to show he can come back from surgery? Without a doubt.
Am I supportive of Chipper? As supportive as he is of the team.

A fan since 1957, saw Warren Spahn win his 300th against the Cubs. We have no one to play center field, McClouth is a joke – can’t hit, can’t field and won’t even show his pathetic arm. What about left field? Prado goes to third base when Chipper pulls another oblique during the first game. Major holes that no one seems to be concerned about. Same as last year, no CF no LF – and we’re not concerned?

do people that post about trading Mclouth really think a team would want him. if you don’t want him on the Braves then what makes you think any other team would trade anything worth getting in return for him. is this just wishful thinking or do people really believe that these absurd proposals may be considered. Hey, I am all for KK and Mclouth in return for Cody Ross and 10 million cash.. FW make it happen.

It’d be nice for the whiners to find something shiny to distract them. Sadly, that won’t happen. Hard to believe someone who does nothing but trash Braves player is actually a Braves fan. And in fact, I ususally don’t believe it. Trolls, jerks and bozos from other team sites are what make up the large majority of the group that simply insults Braves players, makes their names into insults, constantly claim we are the worst team since the 1962 Mets, etc.
So go ahead and post your foolish remarks. Most of us on here who are true fans recognize trolls when we read them.

Beachy and Dellgado, Pastornicky for Greinke or Rasmus. DO NOT TOUCH Mike Minor…am I the only one to see him k 12 cubbies. HE IS THE FUTURE…and our only Lefty..and some of you want to trade him + prospects for Cain????!!?? He has like 46 ab’s in the ML. No no no no. Couple of bench players and another Lefty in the pen period. JJ yes – he’s inconsistant and Beachy can outpitch him. Trade him and Randall for somebody. The rest are UNTOUCHABLE. I wouldn’t trade Minor for Upton straight up. Again, our only Lefty and pitching WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!

PLEASE tell me all of you are joking about Grienke for JJ??? Zach is a GREAT, AMAZING pitcher but he’s admitted that he hates being in the public spotlight and having to be compared to Maddux at a young age is stressful for anyone. If anything we should hold on to JJ and sign Zach when he becomes a free agent. Grienke, Jurrjens, Hanson, Teheran and Minor. Now that’s scary. Let’s face it, this team is a Contending AND rebuilding team. Rookie 1B, 2B rebuilding this francise with one of the best 2B in the game, SS no definte long term replacement(F Gonzalez would have been able to work with Yunel), 3B ONLY GOD KNOWS, OF NOT EVEN GOD KNOWS, season starts March 31st and Prado will be back at 3B by April 1st, only J Hey is a sure thing, B Mac and D Ross are solid at Catching, great pitching. Dont forget 2 years ago JJ and Escobar were our only reasons to smile. One is gone and now some of you want the other gone to make the team better. In that case let’s just release Chipper. Position wise we only have 4 guys who we KNOW will be here down the road Freeman, Prado (more than likely), Mac, and JASON FREAKING HEYWARD!

DOB, thanks for all the work and information you provide for us Braves fans. I have a question, is it just me or does signing Bill Hall just make too much sense?
He can play all the outfield and infield positions, this would give much flexibility to Fredi in managing the players if they are injured, struggling, or just need a day off. Especially in the wake of a injury to Chipper, hope not, but Prado can move to 3B and he can play LF or if Prado is satisfied in LF then Hall can play 3B. He can also take over CF if McClouth fails to put it together this season, with Hall replacing McClouth we wouldn’t have to rely on inexperience players, even though I would like to give Jordan Schafer a chance, to take over the position or trade our prospects on someone who may or may night be a “sure thing” to the solution.
It just seems too easy to be true. Signing Bill Hall brings experience, flexibility, good defender, couple SB, and pop to the team.
And if the team is looking for another LP for the bullpen then Ron Mahay certainly isn’t a bad option. He pitched great in his short time here in ATL. George Sherrill and Will Ohman aren’t bad options in my opinion either, just as long as the team doesn’t overspend on this need.
Hopefully we can trade KK to someone and just get rid of him, because we really don’t have a need for him on our roster. If it doesn’t work out right now then have him start the season in the minors and pitch there in either relief or as a starter and then trade him during the season; as injuries do happen during the year and some teams will be more desperate then to trade for him.

Dave –
This just may seem obvious to me, but if Wren is looking for a proven backup shortstop who would come cheap, why not go after Adam Everett? He’s a Cobb County boy, and a great glove on defense. I ran into him a little over a year ago in Acworth, and spoke to him for a few minutes, and he told me he and his family would love nothing more than to finish his career with the Braves!
