Adam Jones is that possible
December 7th, 20102:05 pm
GOMEZ CAN REALLY CHANGE A BALL GAME, WHEN ON BASE HE CAN MOTOR! vERY EXCITING PLAYER . excuse the caps. DOB said, Brewers wish to move Gomez not Cain?
Lord, please get the Braves a 3rd baseman; I can’t go through another season of Chumper at 3rd.
December 7th, 20102:11 pm
go away, dumbo
Do you know what the return policy is in MLB? Can we return McClouth back to the Pirates for McCutchen? And tell them we thought we were getting the other Mc? Just kidding!! On on serious note , Andruw Jones would be really affordable and could at the worst case be a right handed stick off the bench… I believe he can put up some descent numbers and could play a good CF since he has seen his Fat Albert days behind him.. And he still is only 33 yrs old…Will you ask Fren Wren for me tell him Kerry wanted to know.. Thanks!!
December 7th, 20102:12 pm
ramblingman…I knew I’d find a Chumper, er I mean, Slumper fan in here.
December 7th, 20102:13 pm
KK and 5 mil for ______________ from the Orioles? A low level minor leaguer?
December 7th, 20102:14 pm
Hope Wren works out a deal with the Os.
December 7th, 20102:18 pm

If you think you A** could do any better get out there and try if not dont watch them because he will be at 3rd. Another d*** stupid comment

December 7th, 20102:19 pm
I read in a MLB rumor blog that the Orioles are after Bartlett at TB. How about this deal….AGon to Baltimore, Reimold to the Rays and Bartlett to the Braves.
Gonzo would be better suit back in the AL East.
December 7th, 20102:21 pm
I meant to say Gonzo and a KK package to Baltimore.
December 7th, 20102:23 pm
fsugolf8166…nah, I’ll be in my seat 4 rows behind dugout, ready to snag another errant throw to 1st…but it is time the Star Lovers accept the fact that Chippers best days are way behind him, sad but true.
December 7th, 20102:28 pm
Dumbo, you are right about Chipper’s best days being behind him. But, just as the Yankees have done with Jeter, the Braves have to play him (and his $14 MM contract) if he’s healthy. He IS the face of the franchise (no disrespect to Bmac or JHey)
December 7th, 20102:31 pm
perfectly said thank you everyone knows his best days is behind him but he is the braves 3rd baseman and the face of the franchise

December 7th, 20102:36 pm
Lets go after Ryan Howard
JJ + Minor + Freeman for Howard
December 7th, 20102:40 pm
I’m pretty sure this is sarcasm

December 7th, 2010
December 7th, 20102:44 pm
fsugolf8166, thanks…..what few here realize is the average baseball fan STILL thinks of Chipper when they talk about the Braves. I would be willing to bet most average Braves fans (you know..like the church group that drives up from Waycross, Ga) would have a hard time listing 5 of the regular starting 8 from last season.
December 7th, 20102:55 pm
Dumb Braves fan…listen friend, my handle is Dumbo, but even I know that there is no way the Phillies are unloading Howard, plus the Braves couldn’t manage his Contract at about $21 million a yr for next 5 yrs
December 7th, 20102:56 pm
Watch out, National League! The Braves have Joe “The Beaver” Mather!
December 7th, 20102:59 pm
Bill Hall would cost more than a utility man, but he would solve the outfield and utility man and be a better than capable 3B if Chipper is out. he can play 7 positions if needed and can plain out hit. even if costs us 5mil would easily be worth it.
December 7th, 20103:00 pm
gcs….heard Freddie was kinda hard on the Beaver last night
December 7th, 20103:06 pm
“I read in a MLB rumor blog that the Orioles are after Bartlett at TB. How about this deal….AGon to Baltimore, Reimold to the Rays and Bartlett to the Braves”
“I meant to say Gonzo and a KK package to Baltimore”
I’d say go for it if they don’t have to pay so much of KK’s salary if they are including Gonzo.
December 7th, 20103:19 pm
If the Orioles are after Bartlett, why does he end up with the Braves in your 3-team trade?

you are another example of how the IQ on these blogs is low.

J schafer did not finish strong in Gwinnett. He was sent to Mississippi
and still could not hit AA pitching and faked another injury. -.200 batting average with both clubs

Wren gets Angels GM drunk and lands Mike Trout for KK and McLouth with no salary pick up.
December 7th, 20103:41 pm
Where did you see this?
December 7th, 20103:42 pm
just heard Braves close to blockbuster deal dont know who yet
** Sorry, this?
December 7th, 20103:43 pm
Who needs DOB when you have Larry?
December 7th, 20103:52 pm
Blockbuster is about to tank. Everyone’s going to Netflix or Redbox. That would be a bad move for the Braves.
Conyers Braves Fan
December 7th, 20103:55 pm
I enjoyed reading all this nonsense. If it was not fun for me, I would not waste my time. I nor anyone else who has posted (except possibly DOB) really has a clue what is or is not going on with the Braves at the Winter Meeting. If anything does materalize, it could be a surprise to everyone. As for me, I will keep on reading all of this stuff and laughing.

December 7th, 20104:04 pm
Remember a few years back when Lastings Milledge was a can’t miss prospect for the Mets? His name was also included in speculation for trades.
December 7th, 20104:10 pm
ok here is the perfect lineup…lets trade heyward, prado, mcann and jj to the cardnials for albert and then we could sign andruw jones and frenchy…and then we could trade hanson for livain hernandez…what yall think about that…come on people quit talking stupid trades….we have a solid team as it is right now,we need to sure up the bullpen and then either get a solid centerfielder or just let mclouth play there…i think people have given up on him to soon and the kid has tons of talent…just my thoughts
December 7th, 20104:12 pm
Damn right I am a Chipper fan, and I am in no way apologetic about it. It is astounding to me that someone could actually claim to be a Braves fan and rip on Chipper in the same breath. He has been the heart and soul of this team for a very long time.
I hated when they traded Dale Murphy. I wasn’t happy when they let Aaron go, but that was more a case of acceding to his wishes. It’s very rare to have a player now who remains with the team for his entire career and is successful enough to become the face of the franchise.
Yes, it’s a business. They proved that with Smoltz and Glavine. Doesn’t matter. Chipper has earned the right to stay. Is he as fearsome at the plate as he once was? No. Is he as good defensively as he once was? No. Is he still a leader and a presence in the clubhouse? You betcha.
Is he anywhere near as horrible as some of the trolls and posters would have us believe? Absolutely not. Has he earned the right to show he can come back from surgery? Without a doubt.
Am I supportive of Chipper? As supportive as he is of the team.
December 7th, 20104:20 pm
word is now that the O’s are pulling out of the deal
December 7th, 20105:05 pm
Wren said Ed Lucas may be our utility player….ok. What’s next?
December 7th, 20105:10 pm
Who the hell is Ed Lucas?
And Roodge Owns
December 7th, 20105:14 pm
George Lucas’s talking horse?
December 7th, 20105:18 pm
if Lucas does take that spot, it is one less thing they have to worry about. I’d be okay with that. He looks to have a fairly decent bat and some speed. Don’t know that much about him but I’m willing to see what he has.
December 7th, 20105:21 pm
For those of you wondering who Lucas is…
More reading the blog, less posting under the blog
December 7th, 20105:24 pm
Hmm, looks like the Bartlett deal fell through. Maybe there is a possibility of slipping in there and working something with Gonzo and KK in some kind of three way deal like South Georgia Braves suggested earlier.
December 7th, 20105:40 pm
ramblingman, I too believe he would be ok.Has speed, power and hits for average.
Playing Young and Lucas would save some money and give the kids a chance to prove themselves.
Now you will be the LH relief pitcher?
December 7th, 20105:42 pm
who not you
Popcorn Arm McOut
December 7th, 20105:43 pm
A CF to replace McOut is a necessity to a luxury or just insurance. How can you (DOB & Wren) or anybody be satisfied with McOut after last year’s performance ? Its pretty sad that his $6 million contract makes the Braves have to play him. Any news on Nate actually playing winter ball or getting a hitting tutor ? Damn, he needs one…
What about Grady Sizemore? Trade McCouth and Minor/Beachy. Granted Sizemore is injury prone but an injured Sizemore is better than a healthy McCouth.
December 7th, 20105:44 pm
Roodge , Lucas does have some good race horses.
December 7th, 20105:45 pm
A fan since 1957, saw Warren Spahn win his 300th against the Cubs. We have no one to play center field, McClouth is a joke – can’t hit, can’t field and won’t even show his pathetic arm. What about left field? Prado goes to third base when Chipper pulls another oblique during the first game. Major holes that no one seems to be concerned about. Same as last year, no CF no LF – and we’re not concerned?
I meant its a necessity not a luxury.
December 7th, 20105:48 pm
Yeah, Chipper may pull anything (oblique, hammy, tendon, ear, left nut, nose, tongue, big toe,etc.).
Nate is just flat out a mistake that will hurt another year even after last year was near unbearable…
December 7th, 20105:49 pm
I bought a tv (like Nate) that played really well at first but it tore up after about 6 months (like Nate) and I took it to the landfill…
December 7th, 20106:09 pm
Is there any possibility that barbaro canizares could make the team next year? good rh bat, could platoon with freeman?
December 7th, 20106:26 pm
do people that post about trading Mclouth really think a team would want him. if you don’t want him on the Braves then what makes you think any other team would trade anything worth getting in return for him. is this just wishful thinking or do people really believe that these absurd proposals may be considered. Hey, I am all for KK and Mclouth in return for Cody Ross and 10 million cash.. FW make it happen.
December 7th, 20106:29 pm
a rival executive speculated that there was a possibility that the braves could look into acquring albert pujols.
December 7th, 20106:36 pm
“a rival executive speculated that there was a possibility that the braves could look into acquring albert pujols.”
LOL thats the funniest post I’ve read all year. Is this a trade you tried to make in MLB2K10 on your PS3?
December 7th, 20106:40 pm
It’d be nice for the whiners to find something shiny to distract them. Sadly, that won’t happen. Hard to believe someone who does nothing but trash Braves player is actually a Braves fan. And in fact, I ususally don’t believe it. Trolls, jerks and bozos from other team sites are what make up the large majority of the group that simply insults Braves players, makes their names into insults, constantly claim we are the worst team since the 1962 Mets, etc.
So go ahead and post your foolish remarks. Most of us on here who are true fans recognize trolls when we read them.
December 7th, 20106:57 pm
Beachy and Dellgado, Pastornicky for Greinke or Rasmus. DO NOT TOUCH Mike Minor…am I the only one to see him k 12 cubbies. HE IS THE FUTURE…and our only Lefty..and some of you want to trade him + prospects for Cain????!!?? He has like 46 ab’s in the ML. No no no no. Couple of bench players and another Lefty in the pen period. JJ yes – he’s inconsistant and Beachy can outpitch him. Trade him and Randall for somebody. The rest are UNTOUCHABLE. I wouldn’t trade Minor for Upton straight up. Again, our only Lefty and pitching WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!
December 7th, 20107:15 pm
As long as we don’t get Gomez! Has speed but stinks at everything else.
December 7th, 20107:20 pm
I’ll take my chances with Matt Young and even Shaefer. Would love Ellsbury but its not gonna happen. GO BRAVES!!
December 7th, 20107:31 pm
Jayson Heyward in center and go after Willingham. Hell, Frenchy would b better than McLouth if he doesn’t rebound.
December 7th, 20107:50 pm
Calm down everyone.. We have a solid team right now.. if Shafer or Mclouth don’t work out, we will get something done. Don’t sell the farm. we are better than most teams just like we are… not saying some reasonable tweaking would be nice…or… maybe someone surprises us and tears it up in spring training….. all in all I am really excited…when does spring training begin…
December 7th, 20107:54 pm
Early March. 1st week I think.
December 7th, 20108:08 pm
if we cant get someone like jacoby, sizemore, or crawford, i say bring back francoeur and put him or jhey in center. you know he’ll be more productive than nate and jordan…and he’ll be a little cheaper and we can spend money else where. but i doubt he will want to come back here since the fans were pricks to him
December 7th, 20108:16 pm
February 26th 1st Spring Training Game
December 7th, 20108:28 pm
something’s brewing…no tweet from DOB or Bowman in quite some time.
December 7th, 20109:35 pm
Frenchy is as good as Milledge offensively plus his defense is extremely good, maybe it’s time to bring the prodigal son home.
Robin of the Hood
December 7th, 201010:27 pm
PLEASE tell me all of you are joking about Grienke for JJ??? Zach is a GREAT, AMAZING pitcher but he’s admitted that he hates being in the public spotlight and having to be compared to Maddux at a young age is stressful for anyone. If anything we should hold on to JJ and sign Zach when he becomes a free agent. Grienke, Jurrjens, Hanson, Teheran and Minor. Now that’s scary. Let’s face it, this team is a Contending AND rebuilding team. Rookie 1B, 2B rebuilding this francise with one of the best 2B in the game, SS no definte long term replacement(F Gonzalez would have been able to work with Yunel), 3B ONLY GOD KNOWS, OF NOT EVEN GOD KNOWS, season starts March 31st and Prado will be back at 3B by April 1st, only J Hey is a sure thing, B Mac and D Ross are solid at Catching, great pitching. Dont forget 2 years ago JJ and Escobar were our only reasons to smile. One is gone and now some of you want the other gone to make the team better. In that case let’s just release Chipper. Position wise we only have 4 guys who we KNOW will be here down the road Freeman, Prado (more than likely), Mac, and JASON FREAKING HEYWARD!
December 7th, 201010:54 pm
Supposedly, we’re looking at Mahay. How could we afford him.
December 8th, 20101:05 am
DOB, thanks for all the work and information you provide for us Braves fans. I have a question, is it just me or does signing Bill Hall just make too much sense?
He can play all the outfield and infield positions, this would give much flexibility to Fredi in managing the players if they are injured, struggling, or just need a day off. Especially in the wake of a injury to Chipper, hope not, but Prado can move to 3B and he can play LF or if Prado is satisfied in LF then Hall can play 3B. He can also take over CF if McClouth fails to put it together this season, with Hall replacing McClouth we wouldn’t have to rely on inexperience players, even though I would like to give Jordan Schafer a chance, to take over the position or trade our prospects on someone who may or may night be a “sure thing” to the solution.
It just seems too easy to be true. Signing Bill Hall brings experience, flexibility, good defender, couple SB, and pop to the team.
And if the team is looking for another LP for the bullpen then Ron Mahay certainly isn’t a bad option. He pitched great in his short time here in ATL. George Sherrill and Will Ohman aren’t bad options in my opinion either, just as long as the team doesn’t overspend on this need.
Hopefully we can trade KK to someone and just get rid of him, because we really don’t have a need for him on our roster. If it doesn’t work out right now then have him start the season in the minors and pitch there in either relief or as a starter and then trade him during the season; as injuries do happen during the year and some teams will be more desperate then to trade for him.
December 8th, 201010:05 am
This just may seem obvious to me, but if Wren is looking for a proven backup shortstop who would come cheap, why not go after Adam Everett? He’s a Cobb County boy, and a great glove on defense. I ran into him a little over a year ago in Acworth, and spoke to him for a few minutes, and he told me he and his family would love nothing more than to finish his career with the Braves!

Sure, no problem.
December 8th, 201012:11 pm
Some are saying that the Braves may trade Kawakami but have to pay up to 5 million of his salary. — Don’t understand — What is the point if they are still going to have to pay almost all of his salary??????
December 8th, 201012:57 pm
AHHHHH Winter Meetings,I love this time of year almost like I do the trade deadline..lol, So with that said these should be some moves FW be looking at..Signing Bill Hall really does make too much sense,Beachy for Cain straight up looks good as well, the Braves need a legit lead off man with speed..Elsbury and McCutchen are to pricey in prospects,4th outfielder should come in the form of old Brave Francouer..Who is the closer?!?! Zach Grienke should be looked into with possibly KK,Derek Lowe,Low-Mid level prospect and eat some of KK contract..Just a suggestion
just suggestions everything isn’t possible,,
December 8th, 20101:04 pm
DOB, just asking, but any Chance that Andruw Joens signs as a back up outfielder?? Good power for a right handed bat off the bench after losing Matty??
Sorry, Andruw Jones….

Saw Brandon Flowers of The Killers last week perform his solo album. Not as good as The Killers stuff, but I still enjoyed the album. Both acts are quite good live. Have you seen any concerts lately? Recommendations?
