Braves – Hudson-Hanson-Lowe-Jurrjens
Phillies – Halladay-Oswalt-Hamels (Blanton is not good)
Marlins – Johnson-Vazquez-Nolasco-Sanchez (Jury is out on Volstad)
Reds – Arroyo-Volquez-Cueto-Wood (not a bad #5 w/ Leake or Bailey
Cardinals – Carpenter-Wainwright-Garcia-Westbrook-Lohse
Dodgers – Kershaw-Billingsley-Lilly-Kuroda-Garland
Giants – Lincecum-Cain-Bumgarner-Sanchez-Zito

Yes, because Braves fans have suffered so much more than fans of most other major league teams, right? The S.F. Giants went more than a half-century without winning a World Series until last month. They hadn’t been to the playoffs since 2003, when they lost in the first round.

Cubs fans probably feel sorry for poor Braves fans and all the suffering they had to do, winning only one World Series (and 14 division titles) in a couple of decades under Cox. Yeah, those long-suffering Braves fans, nobody around baseball’s had it worse than them.

You can count on one hand the number of baseball franchises who’ve had as much or more overall success as the Braves during the past two decades.

(Robert, you make better points extolling the virtues of SEC football.)

Yes DOB – Braves fans HAVE suffered more than most.

Watching a bad team play poorly is NOT suffering. Its drudgery.

Watching a championship caliber team squander opportunity after opportunity – that’s suffering.

And DOB – Cox is respected without reason. I do not aspire to be respected without reason

I suppose that in your mind, when the Braves win the World Series in 2011 it will have nothing to do with Cox’s departure. It will be coincidence, just like when the playoff streak ended the moment Mazzone left

Suffering.

Watching one of the Braves teams of the late 1980’s win 70 games with a 65 win roster wasnt suffering. It was mostly droll, though sometimes comic.

Suffering.

Watching the Giants win the World Series and knowing we had them flat out beat and wouldve won the series against them if not for strategic errors that a first time Little League manager wouldnt make – THAT is suffering

Reflecting on what couldnt be is merely realizing what couldnt be,

Rueing what shouldve been is suffering

As for the Braves winning next season, I think you’ll find them picked by a lot of pundits to be improved over 2010. And why not? They just added a 30-homer, 90-100 RBI hitter to their lineup and return the starting rotation from a team that played the eventual World Series champions to four 1-run games in the first round of the postseason despite being without Prado, Chipper, Jurrjens, Saito, O’Flaherty, Medlen and, at the end of the series, without Wagner.

Kinda like Crain, but I have a feeling the Braves will look at lesser options. Benoit’s 3 years 16.5 million dollar deal is going to kill the free agent relief market. Really stinks, because the Braves need another arm, for sure.

Beau Jones has been off and on in the Texas organization, but his 2010 in AA seemed to show some promise. The 24-year-old lefty struck out 62 over 52 2/3 innings, with an ERA of 2.91 and a WHIP of 1.27, while His fastball sits at 93-95.

So the 23 year old lefty is well worth the risk of a roster spot.

Robert…..I am not certain ur age or how long you have lived in the Atlanta area or how long you have been a Braves fan. I wasnt expecting to post tonight but your comments about Bobby made my blood pressure go up. As DOB said a moment ago if any or us ever achieve the kind of professional success and repsect as Bobby I dare say we will have done oursleves our careers and our checking accounts prouder than most of us can imagine.
I am a life long Georgian and have been a Braves fan for 37 years. I was a Braves fan in the 70’s the 80’s and have been throughout Bobbys tenure over last 20 years. The levels of success and winning that the Braves enjoyed from 1991-2005 has never been duplicated cumlatively throughout the entire Braves history dating to Boston.
The Braves in the 70’s-80’s routinely lost 90-100 games a year every year. Bobby Cox for me and a lot of other Braves fans is the biggest common denominator of all that success. There were great players who came through and there were great Braves but Bobby made it all work–seamlessly, like a damn sewing machine for 20 freaking years including 15 post season experiences. Bobby was and has been to the Braves what Dick Winters was to the Band of Brothers –he was their leader…..and the Braves players believed in him and they bought in.
I wish Freddi all the success in the world, but Bobby Cox has been the real face of the Atlanta Braves in some ways for the last 25 years and if you could get your head out of ur ass long enough to relaize that some of us would appreciate it

Bobby Cox was the Atlanta Braves. Without him ever coming to Atlanta we would be something like the Royals or Nationals. We would not be known around the country as America’s Team. We have respect of fans of other teams who have never had winning seasons much less playoffs. I was a Braves fan from back in the 70s through now and I appreciate that he came here and all the “winningest” seasons we enjoyed. Some cities should be so lucky. I have friends and family all over this great Unites States and as baseball fans they find us fortunate to have the Braves lead by Bobby Cox. People of all ages, backgrounds, income levels, professions and ethnic groups love Bobby Cox. Across the board he is the best. There is no other manager in any sport more respected and admired than Mr. Cox. I’m a Braves fan first but it does not seem the same to me without him. Not many can say that they have had an effect on so many for so long with lasting endearment. STFU

FA relief options not named Mo or Sori:

Type A RH relievers: Balfour, Francisco, Frasor
Type A LH relievers: Downs

Other RH relievers: Guerrier, Crain(Type B), Rauch, Wheeler, Wood, Uehara, Putz(Type B – offered), Qualls(Type B – offered), Gregg(Type B – offered), Hoffman, Farnsworth, Durbin, Park, Heilman(Type B – offered), Dotel(Type B – offered)

Other LH relievers: Fuentes, Takahashi, Rhodes, Feliciano(Type B – offered), Choate(Type B – offered), Reyes

Sounds like Francisco is going to accept arbitration. I wouldn’t be surprised if Frasor and Balfour did too. Downs will get a multi year deal from a contender who may have already signed a Type A or who already received a draft pick for a departing free agent, like Boston, Philly or New York.

Wouldn’t surprise me if a few Type B’s accepted as well like Feliciano, Qualls, Gregg, Dotel and/or Heilman.
