Mixxo, I think most Falcons fans (and team officials) are quite happy with the QB they’ve got. What’s he lost, one home game he’s ever started? Judging from you comments throughout the game, if you’re a Falcons fan then you win the award for fastest-off-the-ship at first sign of peril. Hope you at least let some women and children go ahead of you….

Soph, my bad. I was reading the comments and thought you had mistaken Matt Ryan, that’s all.
Yes, after Ryan hit back-to-back field goals (one after the timeout), they do have two who fit the “Matty Ice” nickname.
I still think that’s a bad nickname, sort of cheesy, but it fits — Ryan’s a stellar QB, love watching that guy work in situations like today. You can build around that dude for a decade or so. Falcons have really solidified their franchise.

How ’bout Braves, Falcons and Hawks all making playoffs? Should happen. And to think how bad the state of pro sports was in this city just 2-3 years ago, and the Falcons were just a team hoping to have back-to-back winning seasons for the first time. Their goals are certainly considerably higher these days.

As for fights, Courtland Finnegan and Andre Johnson went at it pretty good in the Tennessee-Houston game. Johnson got the best of it and both got ejected

How ’bout Braves, Falcons and Hawks all making playoffs? Should happen
And how about the Hawks being better than the Heat so far this season and without really playing great basketball yet, they’ve been up and down. Heat still have all season to get it together but I wondered how that team would pull it together with those three players. Lebron and Wade are the same player, Lebron is just bigger, neither a pure shooter and Bosh just looks like odd man out. There coach has his work cut out for him to figure out that riddle but the talent is there. In the Southeast division things still look the same. Magic are still top dog.

Matt Ryan may not be considered to be up there with Rogers and others in the game but the guy manages the game and doesn’t really turn the ball over. Good quality in a quarterback to have if you ask me.

Matt Ryan reminds me of Tom Brady early in his career. The biggest thing he does is he doesnt lose the game via mistakes.
Now take that and build a complete team around him – a healthy top class runner in Turner, a still-productive old time pro like Gonzalez, and one of the league’s premier wideouts in White – and you have a legit threat

Will Fredi make the right call EVERY time? No
Will I agree with Fredi’s every move? Likely no
(As an aside -Does that mean that I wouldve made the right call every time? CERTAINLY NOT)
But no manager makes the right call every time. What you’re looking for is for him to be an overall positive.
Will Fredi prove to be a good manager? I dont know. (it might take a few years to know for sure)
All of this is secondary.

Hey as far as movies go – save 90 minutes of your life and dont see Skyline.
Skyline is basically like someone had the idea that they wanted to do a movie kinda like Cloverfield but then they were running out of money and didnt know quite where it was going so they decided to just end it real quick at no particular junction
Like I said – you have 90 minutes you can now devote to something way more productive

Marlins are not that bad of a team. They have enough pieces to be competitive, maybe not enough for a playoff spot but I can see them being competitive all year like the Pads especially if they finally improve that pen.

The things that got me were the ones where he didnt even recognize things that might be a problem
The year where Chipper got hurt late in the season. Cox was interviewed not long before it happened and was talking about hoping Chipper could extend his streak of 100-rbi seasons. He said something like “sure I’m gonna let him go after it. What’s the harm?”
Now – I am NOT saying that anyone couldve known that Chipper getting hit on the wrist by a stray fastball. I’m also not saying it was wrong to keep Chipper in the lineup in that final week so he might extend the streak
What was WRONG was that there was no process like this happening – Ok, we need Chipper for the playoffs. We could rest him and then he’d be healthy for sure, but he might cool off and also would lose tyhe streak of 100 rbi seasons. Considering everything, I know there’s a chance he gets hurt, but I think it’s best if we let him continue to play
That’s totally different from “Hee Haw What’s the harm?”
Like this year when he didnt adjust the pitching matchups to line up with the Phillies. Cox’s attitude was “why would I think of doing that?”
Like leaving Conrad in to play defense against the Giants – “Why would I think of taking him out”
