The Rasmus rumors won’t die. Braves should give them any prospect they want. If the braves could get him they would have the best lineup in the NL for sure. He’s still cheap too. Maybe we could even get him for julio and mid level. Who wouldn’t be gushing over that lineup
VJ, Deep Tracks announced they will be playing it quite a bit tomorrow, also. I wonder how many times I can hear it if I keep swithching back and forth. I may be able to set some kind of record or something.
You remember that one time Loaf threw someone out from the outfield? That’s when. I try to use them sparingly. I was actually hoping no one would notice…
Yea nolie. It appears that we are in on a trade involving nearly half the MLB that will land us Grienke, Pujols, Braun and someone else. I forget. RG should be able to fill in the blank.
It just says 3 contending clubs have a persistent interest, braves could realize they can have a very special team next year and years to come. There’s no way the braves are not interested in him.
“Three contending clubs” have a “persisting interest” in Colby Rasmus, tweets Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Strauss noted in a follow-up tweet that these are teams with a “new interest,” so presumably that eliminates past suitors like the Braves, Blue Jays, Diamondbacks and White Sox.
Theres no doubt the Braves are interested in Rasmus. But with Uggla on board they have a less pressing need to make the move. He would cost a pretty penny and then some. They said the other day that he won’t be going anywhere also.
Pcola that wouldn’t be the first time we heard someone wasn’t going to be traded then dealt 2 weeks later. I mean if I were the cards I wouldn’t deal him, but I also thought the braves wouldn’t trade yunel. Who knows maybe Larussa does not want him on the team like Bobby with esco. Cards are not going to say they are going to trade him they will deny it’s just how that works.
The difference there is Cox wasn’t the only one unhappy with Yunel. From what I understand much of the organization had soured on him. Rasmus just doesn’t get along with LaRussa. I believe this is LaRussa’s last year w/ the team so I’d be extremely suprised if hes moved.
There’s no way the braves are not interested in him
of course there is a way they aren’t interested in him Andrew. You are projecting your desires onto the club. He almost assuredly ain’t coming to Atlanta
Yea theres no way hes a brave this year. Now I think we could revisit the issue next offseason depending on Pujols status. If JJ reestablishes himself we should have a nice trade piece.
Braves have 8.8 million left.Wren plans on getting two bench players with that! He didn’t mention any trades. He’s going to give Jordan Schafer a shot for center field too, and plans on using the rest for a left handed pitcher. If the Braves need one?
Most teams fortunate enough to have cheap, productive players don’t have a whole lot of interest in trading them. The Cardinals, however, may consider offers for Colby Rasmus this winter. Cardinals manager Tony La Russa told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that his 24-year-old center fielder asked for a trade, and GM John Mozeliak must now decide whether to make one.
Rasmus denies that he asked for a trade, but has undeniably drawn the ire of La Russa and Albert Pujols. La Russa is a free agent after the season, so the Cardinals could simply hire another manager this winter to avoid clubhouse tension. But Pujols isn’t going anywhere and he says the Cards should trade Rasmus if he doesn’t want to play in St. Louis. Of course Pujols isn’t the one making this decision. Mozeliak would likely have serious reservations about dealing a cornerstone player, regardless of Pujols’ feelings and Rasmus’ reported demand.
After all, Rasmus doesn’t hit free agency until after the 2014 season. He has an .849 OPS this year and plays a premium defensive position for the MLB minimum salary. It is extremely difficult to replace that kind of asset, which is precisely why other teams would have interest in Rasmus if the Cardinals decide to trade their center fielder. Here’s a list of potential suitors for Rasmus, but do keep in mind that Cardinals executives have given no public indication that they are seriously considering a trade:
The Braves have a pair of disappointing center fielders (Melky Cabrera and Nate McLouth) and a thing for Georgia natives, so they would presumably have interest in Rasmus.
you’re still projecting Andrew and you are interpreting every single thing no matter how long the odds, as favorable to your desire. good luck. I’m all for it if you can will it done
OK I’m done teasing Andrew.

The Rasmus rumors won’t die. Braves should give them any prospect they want. If the braves could get him they would have the best lineup in the NL for sure.
It ain’t happening. The guy isn’t getting traded to the Braves. Not after this Uggla deal. List of needs:
RH Bullpen arm
4th outfielder
Utility infielder who can back up A-Gon at SS, and play most all other infield spots
Pinch hitter in the Hinske mold
And I doubt Wren is going to go outside the organization for all of those pieces….although I wish he would. Not sold on Diory Hernandez or Matt Young. But if I had to prioritize them, the above order would be it.
Never let facts get in the way of a good story! Melky Cabrera isn’t one of the disappointing center fielders that the Braves currently have. He’s now a free agent. DOB wrote several days ago as well as Mark Bowman from MLB that the Braves are likely done making impact moves. I would categorize Colby Rasmus as an impact move. In addition, Frank Wren has to feel that he made the Dan Uggla deal without giving up much and lightning isn’t likely to strike twice in the same place, if you know what I mean. Prior to the Uggla deal, I felt that Wren and the Braves would have to relinquish some of their prized prospects to land the kind of hitter that would add some pop to the middle of the lineup. After the deal, I think that I would agree with what they have at least expressed and use players that they currently have. Did Nate McLouth have a horrible season? Absolutely. Brutal. You have to hope he works extra hard in the offseason and bounces back. In addition, maybe it’s the perfect time for Matt Young to emerge. Jordan Schafer will be given every chance. Relief pitching and bench players are what will likely be added unless someone approaches Frank Wren and blows him away with an offer.
I absolutely believe that there are offers being made to the Braves for our pitching prospects. The ball is squarely in Frank Wrens court but nothing needs to get done until the KK issue is resolved and Chipper can be evaluated. Hello spring training. Prado and Chipper will be released by the docs in December to begin more strenuous workouts and plenty of serviceable relievers and bench guys are still out there. No hurry. Is a trade for a Rasmus type guy intrigueing? You bet. Not happening unless McLouth becomes the backup or gets traded. A super utility guy like Infante would be my first priority because of Chipper. Good glove with a mediocre bat.
Edward Winslow and Massasoit smoked from the peace pipe, got the munchies and started eating every thing in sight. Squanto, giggling uncontrollably, told Winslow not to call it a party when writing back to England, otherwise every yup from Yorkshire to Kent would want to come over, open a Starbucks, play Kenny G, and use the corn seed for biofuel.
Winslow, laughing hysterically, said “Yeah dude, I’ll tell’m the Mohawks and Micmac’s kill everyone in khaki pants and the Huguenots are having a half price price sale on Baroque art.”
Meanwhile, a group of Separatists and Puritans were hitting chestnuts into the Atlantic. The longest hit to receive a bushel of blueberries for their group. Myles Standish was asked to hit in the place of another Separatist which led to a big argument about having a designated hitter. They appointed a commissioner to determine fair play. He formed a committee to study the problem, but the blueberries spoiled in the interim.
Commissioner Mogan David took the spoiled berries home.
Happy Thanksgiving Denizens – Hope y’all eat well and rest today, though it would appear, that several here need a good healthy dose of reality along with their dressing and cranberry sauce.
No, we don’t need to give them any prospect for Rasmus, nor will we be trading Lowe to the Yankees for Gardner, or trading anyone for Jacoby Ellsbury and his twice broken ribs.
Travis – THanks – Yeah, it’s been rough, but I’ve got friends who had it much worse the past year – including my best friend who’s Dad died on Saturday.
A special Happy Thanksgiving to shovelin’ N8. hee.
Overnight lows Wednesday were expected to dip down to 5 below in the Bismarck area, with highs on Thanksgiving Day struggling to reach double digits. (AP)
I am a Duke Blue devil fan and just checking and getting up to speed. I have always loved Chipper, but I hope they do not have to use the back up plan. We definetly need more speed in our line up. Please bare down on the pitchers and their bunting, and maybe more prac. at hitting behind the runner with a man on 2nd and no one out during their trip to fla.
Happy Thanksgiving, all. Just want to express my sincere appreciation to all of you for your passion and ongoing participation here. We obviously couldn’t do it without you.
Please remember, don’t drink and drive today and this weekend. Because if you do, things can change so quickly, and much that you’re thankful for might not be there anymore….
Oh, and for those wading into the shopping fray tomorrow, hopefully you can find a deal on the new Springsteen box set, or just the two-disc The Promise, for a Boss fan on your list. It really is terrific. I’ve been playing it a lot on my week off.
Anyone seen 127 Hours yet? We’re going today or tonight. Saw Unstoppable yesterday, and it was really a good action movie. Aren’t a whole lot of those that are well-made anymore, but this one is. Denzel’s great, as usual.
Happy Thanksgiving Blog-folk, Carroll, and DOB! Hope you all have a wonderful day with family and friends…obviously the blog has been good to me over the last year- I am very thankful for all of you that have become my friends (and especially one that has become so much more then that )!
Happy Thanksgiving DOB, Carroll and blog denizens. I’m headed over to my brothers house and will be in the woods later. If I don’t come back tell Murph and don’t believe anything you hear about accidents. Investigate the deer!
DOB and Carroll, Happy thanksgiving to both of you. I really appreciate this blog and all of the time/energy you spend posting news and responding to our questions. This blog definitely helps get me through an otherwise dull day at work. Enjoy your time with family and friends and I look forward to the stove heating up again next week.
Happy Thanksgiving everyoone……….DOB and Carroll, just wanted to tell you both that I enjoy reading and from time to time posting on the ol blog and as a die hard Braves fan just cant begin to tell you both how much I enjoy it.

Here’s what Patterson Hood had to say about it: http://www.aquariumdrunkard.com/2010/11/22/diversions-patterson-hood-on-darkness-on-the-edge-of-town/
Anyone seen 127 Hours yet? We’re going today or tonight. Saw Unstoppable yesterday, and it was really a good action movie. Aren’t a whole lot of those that are well-made anymore, but this one is. Denzel’s great, as usual.
