haha…yeah i really do think he is going to be good. i believe he will be the next big-name closer to emerge. but, i think stability gives a bullpen the chance to be great. just having a guy like rauch out there does alot. i really think a solid bullpen veteran is very important. dont forget we lost two huge bullpen pieces, and we cant expect a few rookies to just move into those spots seamlessly without noticing the difference.

Isn’t it amazing that Chipper was worried about exercising in ST now that Fredi is new manager ? Now I see what was meant by the “players manager” label Bobby Cox got. So you can train and exercise on your own under Cox (and now Fredi). No wonder so many Braves are injured and tired at the end of the season. Its called a workout regimen because if managers don’t make some players do it they get out of shape. I recall Andruw gaining 40 lbs his last year as a Brave. Braves don’t need a drill sergeant as a manager but one the let’s players exercise at their leisure is bad. Just look at Bobby Cox, his fat gut tells you he never believed in exercise…
Its nice that Chipper is hunting this off season risking injury to his already injury-prone body. Nice of him to think about the Braves first… Not.

I’d rather have an outfield of just Prado and Heyward alone if McOut HAS to be the CF. I cringe EVERY TIME I see McOut come up to bat. Its gonna be a pop up or strike out 99% of the time. What a waste of money and the CF position by the Braves…

Reading the article about Ohio state’s athletic director. I was somewhat amazed that their ath. dept has a budget of 120 million. Id like to see the figures comparing the buckeyes revenue to the Braves.
Im aware their budget covers all sports. But still…….

What’s wrong with O’Flaherty and Moylan? That’s about as situational as you can get in the 6th or 7th. If that’s your concern, then you don’t need a guy such as Rauch; you just need some middle relief fodder for low-leverage.

Its amazing what people will risk to just shoot a deer. Bambi’s trying to eat some grass and you sneak up on him with a high powered rifle that flips him twice when you hit him at 20 yards… That’s real macho right there… About like me squashing an ant with my boot… That’s not hunting. Hunting is supposed to be challenging.

Also, you should be where I am at…the population is overrun with deer…I am happy for the hunters around here…because the more they don’t kill, the higher rate there is exponentially of me hitting one on the highway and either ruining my vehicle, getting myself hurt, or both…

Of course, I’m sure Turner Field makes a killing in beer sales too. Everytime I go to the game, it seems like everybody has a beer….and they cost something ridiculous like $7 each too

nothing, but who takes their place? everyone moves up a slot, and there is still a hole there. id rather leave moylan and o’flarety where they were, and address the hole in the middle of the bullpen pecking order. i think that hole needs to be filled with a veteran who can close if we need him to, because the kids arent a guarantee.

About 3 weeks back, I am minding my own business, driving down Main Street in Lander, Wyoming when I came up behind 2 fairly large deer trotting down the turn lane.
No problem.
But then they make a RIGHT hand turn out of the center lane. That DEFINITELY should have gotten them both a traffic violation!

Just kidding everyone. I’ve studied wildlife conservation and have a college degree. Deer populations have to be managed through hunting. But I’m still angry that Chipper’s hunting and stepping in holes with next season at stake…

I, for one, support the armies of hunters who don their orange jumpsuits every year and protect us from these antlered menaces. Have you ever lost a loved one to a deer attack? I didn’t think so. You’d be singing a different tune if you had. Sniff… miss you dad.

I caught an eighty-pound shark off of Montauk. It’s in the Hamptons. My dad’s got a 42-foot Bayliner. Sniped it with a rifle from the crow’s nest.

Holy cow! I was either going to brush my teeth, or take a shower. If I took the shower first, I may have burned my house down!
While brushing, I walk around. On this particular journey, I noticed smoke coming off my bed, as if someone left a cigarette in an ashtray. I immediately knew this was a problem because I’m the only one here, and I don’t smoke.
Sometimes I shave with an electric razor, and when I do I use a 2X magnifying mirror. Usually I put it back when I’m finished. This time I just threw it on the bed because I may use it after. It was facing the sun coming through the windows perfectly, and it threw a reflection right in front of it on the bed. That was enough to get the comforter smoking, and leave a burn mark after I put it out.
I saw this episode of “Modern Family” last year around xmas. One of the kids was blamed for smoking in the house because there was a burn mark on the couch. Come to find out, it was caused by the sun’s rays getting magnified by one of the ornaments on the tree. I thought, “yeah, right!”.
I recently changed my thinking.

Bat, it’s not conjecture, it’s fact. Taken from http://www.fbi.gov, in 2008 there were 9484 deaths caused by firearms in the United States, compared to 12892 people killed by deer.

That number might be a little bit off, Rick, but it’s close. Deer kill statistics are hard to track because the nature of the crime (and yes, it is a crime) leads people to not report it to authorities. Fear of retaliation, difficulty in getting a conviction, etc all lead to deer running free every day. It’s one of the issues that gets swept under the rug.

I’ve received hate mail from pro-deer groups, even death threats, but I continue to speak out against these cuddly murderers. I will not stop until there is justice. We shouldn’t have to sit locked in our homes, worrying about the clickity-clack of hooves on our driveways… it has to stop.
