Looking forward to seeing Uggla at 2nd base that day. Great pick up.

To those who park their cars at these fields, get your car insurance paid up, because baseballs will be raining down from the bats of Heyward, Freeman, and Uggla to dent your rides.

I think they are still looking for another outfielder. Personally I think Ellsbury would be affordable and would not cost that much in respect to prospects. Ellsbury (if healthy) would be the ideal leadoff hitter for the Braves. Atlanta too often struggles to scores runs, especially in the playoffs, and the type speed that Ellsbury has always creates problems for the defense. This would be my ideal lineup:

1. Ellsbury
2. Heyward
3. Prado
4. Jones
5. Uggla
6. McCann
7. Freeman
8. Gonzalez

Ellsbury, Heyward and Prado would be outstanding table setters for the middle of the lineup. Goooo Braves.

I like the move from a power standpoint but we should have waited out the outfield market for the big bat. Now were moving our own all star 2nd baseman to the outfield. But for the price we got him- nice. This move is def. built for the future. When Chippers gone Prado will be the full time 3rd baseman and we will probably try to lock up Uggla til he hangs em up.

Looks like it will be quiet for a few weeks until the Braves see those who are non-tendered. There may be some good players available. Feel like we missed out on DeJesus. That would have sealed the deal for me. I sure the Braves kicked the tires on him.

Do we have any power hitters in our farm system that could be an impact next year

I don’t see the Braves going after another outfielder, as nice as that would be. Wren did say that this was the big bat they were looking to acquire.

Earl, why do you think that Ellsbury wouldn’t cost that much in prospects? He would be a great addition, but I think we’d have to give up a great deal to get him.

1) SS to be named later. (If you think were keeping Gonz…were not.)
2) Prado- perfect 2 hole hitter (Left Field until Chippers done)
3) Chipper
4) Uggla- Definition of cleanup hitter.(at least compared to recent yrs)
5) Mac
6) Lets Go HEY-WARD
7) Fredrick
8) McOut (until we make a midseason trade for Adam Jones)

My prediction is wren gets offered an outfielder from the yankees inexchange for Lowe if they can’t sign Cliff Lee

Still need a utility player and hope its not Mather (sp) Cards reject. Diaz I hope is gone. Wren should check on Billy Hall..He can hit for power and play almost ever position.
Henski from the left
Hall from the Right….the two “H”s” stands for Homer.

J-Man: Yes, Freeman is a rookie next year, didn’t have enough PA’s or service time to not qualify for Rookie of Year, etc.

For those still not sure on the Uggla trade, consider this:
Let’s say you are the Braves and have Uggla. Would you trade him to the Marlins for Infante and Dunn?
I didn’t think so.
Great move by Wren.

With Wags calling it quits, who is our closer?
I would love to sign Brian Fuentes, but money is the issue with him.
Probably 8-9 mill / 2-3 years.

Anything been mentioned about the closer role?

With Hall and Henski braves would be hell off the BENCH. Alot better than Diaz.

I love the UGGLA trade…good job Wren!! And isn’t it nice how Franky doesn’t wait till the last minute like Schuerholz always did. I am sooo excited, Cox is gone, no more TP as hitting coach and a GM that makes decisions and executes!!

@Earl,

I love the players on your lineup, BUT Chipper is NOT a #4 hitter. Maybe 5 or 6. I don’t think you go out and trade for a big bat and then stick him in the 5 hole. Granted Bobby Cox would do that but hey, he’s gone!!

AJJ — I think you are right. Yanks might not get Lee, they’ll have plenty of competition this time around. Lowe becomes very logical for them now that he has 2/30 left on his contract. He’s won 31 in the last two years and would probably be better than anyone the Yanks can run out there beside Sabathia.

Here’s the new lineup:

Prado
Heyward
Jones
McCann
Uggla
Freeman
Gonzo
McLouth

I think Ellsbury would be a great (and affordable) pickup for the Bravos. The one thing we lack is speed. Right now we have McLouth who is really only a 7 out of 10. That’s not good…

I might be wrong, but I don’t think that the Braves will make on a replacemen of Mclouth until the season starts,I think that they want to see if Mclouth can come back around.Plus to get a player like Elsbury,The Braves will have to part with pitching prospects that they do not want to part with. we really can not afford to part with any starting pitching in case of injury.
