MIBravesFan–Nice on KJ. I agree that Heyward does seem too nice. These are the types of things about which one thinks, when trying to finish grading papers to give back tomorrow.”

That’s got to be a tough thing to do. I once graded some grade school kids’ essays, and I really didn’t know how to grade them. Against each other or against what I would expect? It’s a good thing I’m not a teacher!

So DOB, have you talked to Wren? Do you get the sense that they’re going to give the kid Heyward a shot in RF on opening day, or are they going to do what they did with Hanson last year?

Oh wait. Never mind. That was a question from last winter. Sorry.

Finally got to my hotel after midnight, turn on ESPN and it’s a hoops marathon to open the season. Love it. Memphis-UM is a one-point game at halftime.

And they just showed the highlight of the — gulp — Ga Tech loss to Kennesaw State. Wow.

OK, I’m going to finish this blog I began during my flight delay at ATL airport, then get a few hours sleep before heading over to meetings hotel in morning.

Alfanzo Soriano: Might not be a bad idea? He has speed, and can hit the long ball.Wren has done deals with the Cubs before. Alfanzo plays left field, and has good defense.

The Giants’ player we should be looking at is Huff. Hits lefties very well and is a free agent-made only 3 mill. this year. I think a lot better signing than Burrell would be.

I just hope Wren will get us a hitter without trading to many prospcts.I’d rather he sign some one.

Huff: Wouldn’t be a bad idea either.

The thing that I find most surprising is that so few votes were actually cast by the BBWAA members (29). Their membership numbers well over 100. — Steve McP

Steve, that’s not how the voting works for BBWAA awards. Only 32 votes for each award (28 in AL), two from each city for each of four awards. That’s it. Doesn’t matter how many BBWAA members there are, only two vote from each city for each award.

Heyward got nine first-place votes, 20 second-place votes, two third-place votes, and wasn’t on the three-person ballot of one voter. That’s 32.

My wish list: Uggla, Ludwick, Zimmerman,Alfanzo Soriano,or B.J. Upton. Any one of these hitters would be great for me.

Brewers are trading bats for arms, and i wouldn’t be suprised if wren traded for a power hitter. Maybe Cory Hart or Ryan Branyan. Nothing is mentioned, but wouldn’t mind any of those hitters.

Any hitter i’ll be happy with As long as they can hit or have speed.Interesting on the Brewers though.Lollygagger: I would much rather have my wish list anwered with one of those hitters.

What do you think about the Uggla rumors? I have always liked his bat and toughness.

We might get some clarification in the GM meetings on a few questions, but then again, it might be another month before we know anything.

We just need to exercise our patience.

Insomnia sucks big time!!!

Gonna try to go back to bed after working about 10 sudoku puzzles……..

I like the way Uggla hits, and he’s made some web jems on ESPN. I also made a mistake Ryan Braun from the Brewers. Not Ryan Branyan.Uggla could play second, and play Prado in left, and use him at third.
