Very much congrats to the Giants and Renteria. I realize that the big hits by Renteria were huge (after all, the lack of big hits is what prevented the Braves from moving forward), but no Tim Lincecum and this Giants team would have….well….uh…. just thrown 3 other pitchers the Rangers couldn’t have hit either.
OK. Never mind. On 2nd thought….. Renteria is a fine choice for WS MVP.

Alright Lou Vales, you have me wishing I wasn’t a Braves fan, or a fan of any Atlanta professional sports team. You booger. That was your goal, to make us feel silly rooting for any Atlanta team. You won. You won. I’m no longer a fan of ANYTHING Atlanta.

Correct on Chipper, Lou. This guy goes to the DL if he sleeps on a matress not to his liking. I do wish CJ would’ve hung ‘em up. He still can play. The key word is “play”, something he doesn’t do much of anymore. He’s a liability with his health.

Plus, I really gotta ace the board exam to be competitive for those two, so that’s always looming over my head. “Not sure if you are aware, but Blue Moon is actually brewed with orange peel…that’s why it tastes so good with the fruit”cabravesfan
I was not aware of that. I’m not much into beer history, beer creation or details. Only whether it tastes good or not. For the most part, I’m not a beer guy. I’ll occasionally have a Bud-Light, but more of a shot and mixed drink guy.
But I was at a wedding this summer, where they had Blue Moon on tap as the “free” beer, and it was pretty damn good. So I bought some.
But thanks for the info. That makes perfect sense.
“N8- Have you had the Blue Moon Full Moon or the Harvest Ale?”Innocent Bystander
I’m pretty sure that the Harvest Ale is what I have in my fridge. I guess I never thought that the stuff I had on tap at the wedding might have been a different brew. Perhaps that’s why it seemed so much better? Guess I wasn’t thinking that there was differenent brews. When I bought the 12-pack it was the only Blue Moon there. So I just assumed it was all that was available.
“… compared to lime and lemon slices, they are bigger and so much more juicier.”Tom O’Hawke
That’s why I think the orange slice works better for it on tap, where you’ve got a big glass to work with. I poured my bottle into a glass at home and threw an orange slice in, but yeah… trying to jam an orange slice into a bottle might be tough!
I really honestly didn’t think that the Giants would win it all when the playoffs began. But I do remember saying that if Lincecum and Cain got hot at the same time, they could pull a Randy Johnson/Curt Schilling on whoever they faced.
Who thought they would do it for 3 straight series (along with the 3rd and 4th starters matching them for the most part)? Add to that, who the hell saw Cody Ross and Edgar Renteria doing what they did?
Gotta love this quote Rosenthal had from a scout in early September:
A scout who attended Tim Lincecum’s recent eight-inning, one-run start against the Rockies, says, “That’s the best I’ve seen him all year. His stuff is not back, but he’s getting people out. He was getting his curveball over. His command was better. But I’m not seeing more arm strength. It was about average, at times a click above. It will be an interesting question this winter: Where is he? What does he have left? I think he’ll end up in the bullpen.”
We recently had the first annual “Beer Fest” about a month ago. It was basically a sample-fest from the local distributors of some of their more exotic brews and some off the wall specialty items.
There was 32 booths, and you got a 4 oz. cup/sample from each booth. They gave you a punch card when you came in and you could either get 1 from each booth, or if you chose, had all 32 samples from the same booth, or any combination of your favorites.
I only did about 24 of them and by the end of the night was hovering around the Blue Moon booth and the Sam Adams Octoberfest.
Some of it was so thick, you had to chew it. I’m not a huge dark beer fan. Not a fan at all, actually. But it was pretty cool. Free food. Band playing and by the end of the night, those 4 oz samples were slightly bigger.
I wouldn’t have gone but a friend of ours bought the tickets for us. Now I can’t wait for next year.

N8-
I don’t really drink a lot of beer either (except at football games) but I prefer the micro brews when I do drink it

“N8- Have you had the Blue Moon Full Moon or the Harvest Ale?” Innocent Bystander
“… compared to lime and lemon slices, they are bigger and so much more juicier.” Tom O’Hawke
That’s why I think the orange slice works better for it on tap, where you’ve got a big glass to work with. I poured my bottle into a glass at home and threw an orange slice in, but yeah… trying to jam an orange slice into a bottle might be tough!

That’s exactly what I was thinking. When I do sample the Blue Moon, I’ll probably pour the bottle into a pilsner glass, or mug, and then juice it up.

Braveheart at 11:44….. That was funny.
Crazy.
