The World Series for me was Phillies/Giants. My lone desire this postseason was for the Phils to be put out convincingly. The WS is an anticlimax.

San Francisco’s starting pitching has given up 4 earned runs in twenty-five innings of work. folks, that’s an ERA of 1.60…Whew!!

Ellie update from Wikipedia:
After twelve appearances in the first season, Ellie disappeared with no explanation offered the audience. Behind the scenes, Donahue decided she and Griffith lacked the chemistry to make their on-screen romantic relationship credible and she decided to leave. Griffith later admitted that it was his own fault because he had a hard time showing affection on-screen, and as a result, the relationship didn’t appear real or believable.

Just got my season tix for the SPIDERS and see that W&M is going to be the second home game of the3 season. We’ll have to post up after the game. Ya know, since the all-star break, the Braves got real sloppy on defense. It continued into the playoffs against the Giants. They lost 3 one-run ballgames with shoddy fielding.
With the Giants about to be crowned World Series Champions, do you ever wonder about where the Braves would have been with a little tighter defense? We’d probably be hoping that Wren didn’t make a move in the off-season.

Very plausible. He has 10 K’s through 8 innings. According to ESPN Stats, the only pitchers with 10+ K in a World Series clincher are: Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax, Hal Newhouser and Orval Overall.

Attention Braves Fans! If you’ve been watching the WS game you saw something earlier that makes Bochy one of the better managers in the game.
Game tied 0-0 and Huff at bat. Huff, the much of the time cleanup hitter, but today hitting lower in the order. He BUNTED! Didn’t matter that he is considered a power hitter or RBI guy, the situation called for the runners to be moved up and he bunted!
Folks thats something you don’t see enough of. That’s something that you never saw in Atlanta.
Congrats to Bochy and his view that you have to play the situation rather than who is hitting. Can you just imagine Chipper bunting in that situation? No you can’t.

I was hoping for the following…
- a tough, gritty, tooth-and-nail World Series that went 6 or 7 games (preferably 7).
- the Rangers to win because of the ex-Braves they’ve got (Frenchy, Andrus, and Feliz), and the fact that a Rangers victory would, however minimally, reflect well on the Braves’ system
- the Giants to win because a) they’re the NL team, and b) there’s definitely something to be said for getting beat by the eventual champion
So I’m 1-for-3 there. Congrats to the Giants! Still, I’m not at all convinced that they’re the best team in the NL, or that the Rangers were the best team in the AL — it was more a matter of two teams that got hot at the right time.

Injuries are part of the game and everybody has them. That said, would Giants be here tonight if Braves hadn’t lost Prado, Chipper, O’Flaherty, Wagner, Jurrjens, Medlen, Saito…?
But they are World Series champs, and that’s all that counts.

Congratulations Giants. This just goes to show you how much of a crap shoot the playoffs are. The three best teams didn’t even make the World Series.
Attention Frank Wren. We have a lot of quality pieces. If Prado and Wagner were healthy, well, you never know.

Andruw Jones is a free agent this winter and the Atlanta Braves need outfield help. But that might be where the dots disconnect, as GM Frank Wren needs help in center field first and foremost, and Jones’ play in center in 2010 was abysmal, according to Ultimate Zone Rating.
Jones is just 33 but has clearly declined on the defensive side, and despite an early-season power surge doesn’t appear to be an everyday player anymore.
There is the thought, however, that a return to the National League could help his offensive output, but he’d most likely have to play in an outfield corner, where he played 74 games in 2010.
The Braves can look to retain Rick Ankiel, also a free agent, or consider Scott Podsednik, Jim Edmonds, Jody Gerut or Corey Patterson, or hope Nate McLouth regains the form that convinced the club he was worth trading for in the first place.
McLouth is guaranteed $6.5 million in 2011
