McFann, are you calling another lady a hot head? I’ve seen you on here defending your guy.
November 1st, 20108:34 pm
“Together” makes it seem so unseemly. I was mostly watching PTI with frequently unopened eyes…
November 1st, 20108:38 pm
Ah, OK. That does seem to sound less unseemly … seemingly.
November 1st, 20108:49 pm
I’d just about rather watch the Phillies in the WS than another week of these FN political commercials.

What the Hell happened with Ellie anyway? She was elected Mayberry City Councilwoman, then poof, she was gone. I would imagine she slipped into an Andy Griffith alternate universe, was Elected Prez, and gave the finger to Mayberry..
Y’all’s guess is good as mine.

A pitcher’s duel seemingly going to live up to the billing…

Has anyone noticed that there are currently only 50 posts per page?

caue the blog takes up the rest of the room each page I guess Jim, I’m staying pageless

CB are you calling another lady a hot head? I’ve seen you on here defending your guy.
Mr. T-G J She was elected Mayberry City Councilwoman, then poof, she was gone.
Oh, I know…very weird. What Helen do to deserve to be the one to hang around?
November 1st, 20109:01 pm
The World Series for me was Phillies/Giants. My lone desire this postseason was for the Phils to be put out convincingly. The WS is an anticlimax.

So far in the Giants three wins and tonight…
San Francisco’s starting pitching has given up 4 earned runs in twenty-five innings of work. folks, that’s an ERA of 1.60…Whew!!
November 1st, 20109:05 pm
McFann: “Oh, I know…very weird. What Helen do to deserve to be the one to hang around?”
She musta been Mayor Pike’s niece or something. She was sure no Ellie!
November 1st, 20109:16 pm
The only actor/actress on the face of the earth worse than the Helen Crump gal, is Adam West. Kinda funny that he was tee’d-off at not being considered for the first SERIOUS Batman movie.
November 1st, 20109:19 pm
Mr. T-G J—
Or Mayor Stoner…he came around about the same time as Helen, didn’t he? Haha…talk about leaning towards the irritating side…
November 1st, 20109:21 pm
Coach, didn’t the Giants have like a 1.75 era for the month of September?
I don’t know…I’ve always been against Noam Pitlik. Eeeeeeew…

Ellie update from Wikipedia:
After twelve appearances in the first season, Ellie disappeared with no explanation offered the audience. Behind the scenes, Donahue decided she and Griffith lacked the chemistry to make their on-screen romantic relationship credible and she decided to leave. Griffith later admitted that it was his own fault because he had a hard time showing affection on-screen, and as a result, the relationship didn’t appear real or believable.
November 1st, 20109:26 pm
Thanks for that! Very int’resting…makes sense…
November 1st, 20109:29 pm
The old sitcoms intrigue me . . . many of them I watched before they were reruns!
November 1st, 20109:32 pm
“……….I mean, what do some of you think they’re going to ask for from the Braves in return for that kind of young player, Jordan Schafer and Mike Dunn?…………..”
That would be nice. CARDS won’t get any trade HR’s from us I don’t think.
BTW, what’s your take on JORDAN’s future in B-ball. I mean what have you heard about his abilities next year?

November 1st, 20109:42 pm
Just got my season tix for the SPIDERS and see that W&M is going to be the second home game of the3 season. We’ll have to post up after the game. Can’t wait to see the RICHMOND freshman center – 6′6″ 270 and very athletic I understand. We’ll see whether he’s a PAUL BUNYON clone or not…………..lumber………..jack.

“From Elias: 3 players drove in game-winners in 2 World Series clinchers: Lou Gehrig (1928 and 1936), Joe DiMaggio (1939 and 1949) and Yogi Berra (1950 and 1956).”
If this score holds up, then Edgar joins them. (1997 Game 7.)
November 1st, 20109:49 pm
Dang! Aint life strange? Edgar a WS hero again. Cody Ross 5 Hr in the playoffs…. Just like Skip used to say ,”If you bet on baseball, you’ve got to be nutts!”
November 1st, 20109:51 pm
JJ for Edgar hasn’t seemed as one sided as it once did.
November 1st, 20109:54 pm
richbrave – I’m still focused on football – have given no thought to hoops yet…
obviously he has been hurt but I am trying to remember why everyone was so against Nelson Cruz joing us last offseason
November 1st, 20109:57 pm
whether he was available and what he would cost in trade brian
Edgar mvp of WS?
November 1st, 20109:59 pm
Edgar is a FA if anyone is interested
that would be cool Tomas.I’ve always been a Renty fan
It’s nice to see the Rangers swinging at the same pitches in the dirt that the Braves swung at all day long in Game 1 of our series.
Ray Parker Jr.
November 1st, 201010:00 pm
Does Conrad get a ring from the Giants?
November 1st, 201010:01 pm
ESPN Stats: “If the Giants win it would mean Edgar Renteria went 13 seasons between WS titles, tied for the 3rd-most seasons between WS titles in MLB history. Only Babe Adams (16) and Dolf Luque (14) have gone longer.”
he’s not a very good defensive SS anymore Tomas. Negative figures for three years in a row. still a clutch ghitter though, always has been
November 1st, 201010:02 pm
Ray Parker Jr—-He should.
November 1st, 201010:04 pm
conrad won’t but Bengie Molina will
nolie, agreed…..He was even thinking about retiring, but in this WS he has been awesome offensively and defensively.
November 1st, 201010:05 pm
You gotta love Edgar, one of the smartest, most savvy baseball players out there. He knows what to do in every situation. Maybe not the defensive force he once was—but still good enought to push Uribe to third and start in the World Series.
November 1st, 201010:12 pm
If Giants win, Lincecum might be MVP.
November 1st, 201010:20 pm
Feliz looks like he is playing catch……except he is throwing 98 mph. Just sayin…..

“…………..keep me from running upstairs every time I want a beverage…………”
Great way to run off those beer cals.
You’re a funny guy, richbrave
You know, not all beverages have to be beer. (Mine just happen to be, but they don’t HAVE to be.)
November 1st, 201010:24 pm
Ya know, since the all-star break, the Braves got real sloppy on defense. It continued into the playoffs against the Giants. They lost 3 one-run ballgames with shoddy fielding.
With the Giants about to be crowned World Series Champions, do you ever wonder about where the Braves would have been with a little tighter defense? We’d probably be hoping that Wren didn’t make a move in the off-season.
“If Giants win, Lincecum might be MVP.”
Very plausible. He has 10 K’s through 8 innings. According to ESPN Stats, the only pitchers with 10+ K in a World Series clincher are: Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax, Hal Newhouser and Orval Overall.
November 1st, 201010:27 pm
Did you ever manage to make the long, harrowing trek to the beer place?
November 1st, 201010:28 pm
How about Edgar for MVP? McCarver has a good point for once.
Never would’ve guessed SF would win it all. I’m surprised.
Not to slight anybody else who may have made the same call but that I caint remember, but gotta give props to Uga- he called Giants in 5.
Attention Braves Fans!
November 1st, 201010:29 pm
Attention Braves Fans! If you’ve been watching the WS game you saw something earlier that makes Bochy one of the better managers in the game.
Game tied 0-0 and Huff at bat. Huff, the much of the time cleanup hitter, but today hitting lower in the order. He BUNTED! Didn’t matter that he is considered a power hitter or RBI guy, the situation called for the runners to be moved up and he bunted!
Folks thats something you don’t see enough of. That’s something that you never saw in Atlanta.
Congrats to Bochy and his view that you have to play the situation rather than who is hitting. Can you just imagine Chipper bunting in that situation? No you can’t.
Edgar should be MVP over Lincecum, as great as The Freak was tonight.
November 1st, 201010:30 pm
Congrats Giants and great representation of the NL! Sigh, what could have been if the Braves were 100% healthy.
You can put it in the bank for next year that it could have been the Braves. Wagner getting hurt cost us one game and the defense derailed. It could have been, but not crying just saying a positive for next year.
Congrats to the Giants. Now let the offseason roster construction process begin!
November 1st, 201010:31 pm
Thoughts on the Giants winning…
Plus: Dodger fans will wallow is self pity and misery for an entire off season
Minus: Listening to an entire off season of “experts” comparing Buster Posey to Johnny Bench (He’s played one season, fellas, maybe you should hold off a bit on the Hall speeches just now…)
I called Giants in 5 also. Unfortunately, it was only a few minutes ago.
Folks thats something you don’t see enough of. That’s something that you never saw in Atlanta. Attention
yeah and I’m sure you would have been just as enthusiastic if he had messed it up too
November 1st, 201010:33 pm
it was only a few minutes ago.
That actually made me laugh out loud…sadly, it’s just me and the dog and the dog was just bitter that I woke her up…
well, there’s that Tom, but Uga actually called it b4 the series started, a wee bit harder to do IMO
November 1st, 201010:34 pm
Did you ever manage to make the long, harrowing trek to the beer place?
cabravesfan, not the one with the Blue Moon.
November 1st, 201010:35 pm
I agree with Edgar for MVP
November 1st, 201010:36 pm
I was hoping for the following…
- a tough, gritty, tooth-and-nail World Series that went 6 or 7 games (preferably 7).
- the Rangers to win because of the ex-Braves they’ve got (Frenchy, Andrus, and Feliz), and the fact that a Rangers victory would, however minimally, reflect well on the Braves’ system
- the Giants to win because a) they’re the NL team, and b) there’s definitely something to be said for getting beat by the eventual champion
So I’m 1-for-3 there. Congrats to the Giants! Still, I’m not at all convinced that they’re the best team in the NL, or that the Rangers were the best team in the AL — it was more a matter of two teams that got hot at the right time.
BOO! How am I supposed to show off my beer knowledge if you never try the beer???
November 1st, 201010:37 pm
Injuries are part of the game and everybody has them. That said, would Giants be here tonight if Braves hadn’t lost Prado, Chipper, O’Flaherty, Wagner, Jurrjens, Medlen, Saito…?
But they are World Series champs, and that’s all that counts.
Rob from SC
November 1st, 201010:38 pm
Congratulations Giants. This just goes to show you how much of a crap shoot the playoffs are. The three best teams didn’t even make the World Series.
Attention Frank Wren. We have a lot of quality pieces. If Prado and Wagner were healthy, well, you never know.
Got get us two quality bats even if that means trading Delgado and Vizcaino…
The 2011 season begins tonight……
Yeah, you’re probably right, nolie.
Trey - 6
Oh snap, they brought back the regular pages.
I am disappointed that the Giants won. If the Braves beat the Giants this could have possibly been the Braves.
November 1st, 201010:39 pm
thats a lot of impact players missing from the lineup ;(
We matched up with these guys-the world series champs. A few tweaks and good health, no reason this cant be us next year. Congrat to the Giants! NL baby!
November 1st, 201010:40 pm
LOL! That little old lady cheering in the middle of that crowd. A BIG LOL! Right Dave? I know you love the LOL’s.
You going to see Due Date, O’Brien? I know you’re a fan of The Hangover, so you’ll probably like this movie.
November 1st, 201010:42 pm
I guess I am still glad for the Giants.
Don’t worry cabravesfan. I’ll get there eventually. If this was summer, I’d be drunk already.
Hey, speaking of your beer knowledge, how do you apply the orange slices?
Do you just drop one in the bottle? Do you give it a little squeeze first? Do you pour the beer into a glass and then ring the little orange’s neck?
November 1st, 201010:43 pm
I loved the little old lady too! Kinda wish I was down there even though I’m not a Giants fan. Looks like fun. If ya can’t beat ‘em…
November 1st, 201010:44 pm
Have we signed out power bat already? or are we waiting for July 31st?
then ring the little orange’s neck? Tom
hey this is a family board, no violence is condoned
I wonder if anybody has been sitting on any big trades waiting for the WS to end
April 22-24, August 15-18, 2011
You don’t have to say “Thank You” with words, Giants—RBI Doubles and CS speak louder. Toss in more Braves wins than losses, and we’re pretty much covered.
at least Franceour doesn’t get that ring…………….
November 1st, 201010:45 pm
perhaps brian, MLB frowns at big announcements during the series
I wonder how JORDAN SCHAFER’s season will turn out in 2011.
November 1st, 201010:46 pm
Run Nate run………….and never return!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would recommend squeezing some juice in then dropping the slice into the bottle…kinda like what you would do with a lime and Pacifico (please tell me you’ve had Pacifico…)
November 1st, 201010:47 pm
from ESPN.com rumor mill:
Andruw Jones is a free agent this winter and the Atlanta Braves need outfield help. But that might be where the dots disconnect, as GM Frank Wren needs help in center field first and foremost, and Jones’ play in center in 2010 was abysmal, according to Ultimate Zone Rating.
Jones is just 33 but has clearly declined on the defensive side, and despite an early-season power surge doesn’t appear to be an everyday player anymore.
There is the thought, however, that a return to the National League could help his offensive output, but he’d most likely have to play in an outfield corner, where he played 74 games in 2010.
The Braves can look to retain Rick Ankiel, also a free agent, or consider Scott Podsednik, Jim Edmonds, Jody Gerut or Corey Patterson, or hope Nate McLouth regains the form that convinced the club he was worth trading for in the first place.
McLouth is guaranteed $6.5 million in 2011
This post does nothing to get me excited. Luckily, the rumor mill has been sorry of late, especially in baseball
November 1st, 201010:48 pm
DAMN, my man EDGAR RENTARIA top stick on this night, and this baseball season. Way to go dog. You’re the best.
November 1st, 201010:49 pm
♥ Edgar ♥
November 1st, 201010:50 pm
please tell me you’ve had Pacifico…
I could tell you that, cab, but I’d be a liar.
Keep geography in mind. I’d have a better shot at an Atlantico.
Turn on the Hot Stove!

Good for Edgar!
ROB in SC:
Nowhere that I’ve seen. I’m guessing JORDAN is having to rest that wrist for the upcoming season.
November 1st, 201010:53 pm
Congrats to the Giants, and to Edgar Renteria!
As far as Buster Posey goes, it’s unfair to compare him to Johnny Bench, but that means it’s also unfair to compare JHey to Willy Mays or whoever.
In all fairness, however, look at Posey’s stats his junior year at FSU (ACC baseball):
.463/.566/.879, 26 HR 92 RBI
You poor east coast people and your lack of decent beer… (actually I don’t really like Pacifico all that much)
November 1st, 201010:55 pm
And to think, some $32 mill of the Giants’ payroll this season went to Barry Zito and Aaron Rowand, their two highest-paid players.
anyways, what you do is sort of squeeze the orange slice down into the bottle, plug the top with your thumb, and turn the bottle upside down to get the orange to the bottom of the bottle (or you can just splash a little orange juice from a carton into the bottle if that is easier )
well Posey is a ‘nole after all…and a catcher
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
