Tom – believe me, I’m happy your Nittany Lions won tonight!
Oh, I have no problem believing you, MIBravesFan. You know, being you’re a Michigan State fan.
However, if Penn State wins on November 27, will you still be so happy?”
Ouch, LUIS AVILAN is being ripped a new one every time out for the Cardinales de Lara. Yesterday, 0.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 01 BB, 0 S0, 23.14 ERA. The 6′2″ lefty reliefer had modest positive numbers in ROME and MYRTLE last season, but so far this fall, he’s literally in ‘left’ field. Out 4 times, 2.1 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO. Mommie, help!!!!!
3B, ‘THE LIBERATOR’, LUIS BOLIVAR finally loosens up a bit going 2-2 at the plate yesterday raising his average to ten points below the mendoza line.
PUERTO RICO
No BRAVES played yesterday.
DOMINICAN
1B ‘45′ GOMEZ has both six-shooters blazing in this game going 2-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 SO while raising his BA to a tidy .421 with 19 AB’s, 8 H, a double and two HR’s, 5 RBI, 2 BB, 8 SO.
MEXICO
Aw-w-w, BARBARO CANIZARES only went 1-4 yesterday lowering his BA to .522 with 13 H in 27 AB’s, 3 BB, 1 SO. He really does know the strike zone. Problem is, by the time he figures out the glove as well, he’ll be too old to lift a bat anymore. Really should go to the ROYALS with fellow CUBAN BRAYAN PENA.
MATT YOUNG has an 0-2 game today with 1 SO, .441 BA, game in the top of the fifth.
Hey, VJ, if it’s possible, do you think you can get the LA Woman to make a comment or two about the good time she had today (sans game outcome), when she gets in?
Witching hour is upon me, and I’ve once again turned into a pumpkin. Put up the ‘domino effect’ and we’ll collaborate on a movie script, and make millions sending all our AJB blogging buds and DOB to our latest mansion in the south of FRANCE. NYTOL.
Damn man, duty calls once again, not doooty, but horizontal bumpin’ duty, you know? The miss’s gets in the mood after all that EUROPA and such, and she’s surly if I can’t accomodate.
I appreciate that, richbrave, but I’d rather see you get your sleep. I’m going to be around for a few more days, and I’ll give you the story of WHAT YOU DID, to me. Don’t worry, it was all good.
Damn man, duty calls once again, not doooty, but horizontal bumpin’ duty, you know? The miss’s gets in the mood after all that EUROPA and such, and she’s surly if I can’t accomodate.
Actually, richbrave, my friend, in the future a simple See Ya’ would probably suffice.
Ya’ know, it’s the first time I ever remember rooting for USC. Not that I root against them, it’s just that they’re in a whole different conference and stuff, until the Bowl games.
But I was giving you as much moral support as I could. I think Soph let you down. I believe she was secretly rooting for the Ducks. But, you can take that up with her in the morning.
There’s a reason that KJ, Andruw and lots of other ex Braves are ex Braves. It needs to stay that way. They weren’t the answer when they were in Atlanta and they’re not the answer now.
1B BARBARO CANIZARES interestingly enough is NOT listed as a BRAVE while playing in MEXICO this season. His stats through 6 G, .522 BA, 23 AB, 12 H, 1 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 6 RBI, 3 BB, 1 SO, .593 OBP, .565 SLG, 1.158 OPS.
CF MATT YOUNG keeps tearin’ it up in fall ball. Apparantly, the holes in his swing are too small for ther opposition to exploit. 16 G, 60 AB, 26 H, 3 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 11 R, 7 RBI, 7 BB, 5 SO, 2 SB, 2 CS, .493 OBP, .583 SLG, .433 BA, 1.076 OPS
3B WES TIMMONS – 7-day DL.
RHP TIM GUSTAFSON 0-2, 3 G, 3 GS, 17.0 IP, 22 H, 13 R, 13 ER, 4 HR, 8 BB, 11 SO, 6.88 ERA, .324 AvAg. He’s struggling no doubt about it. Pretty wild in MRXICO so far. Lots of walks and HR’s says not finding the plate early in counts and having to come in with pitches that need to be on the edges and aren’t.
JASON LOWEY’s last couple of outings have been lumpy, as in he been absorbing a few. 6 G, 8.0 IP, 11 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 HR, 3 BB, 9 SO, 9.00 ERA, .393 AvAg is not a good sign.
DOMINICAN
C TOMAS FRANCISCO – no stats to date.
1B MAURO GOMEZ is second in the league in hitting with a .421 BA in 19 AB, 8 H, 1 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 2 BB, 8 SO, 0 SB, 0 CS, .455 OBP, .789 SLG, 1.244 OPS.
3B SAM SIME – no stats to date.
LF WILKIN RAMIREZ – no stats to date.
RHP CRISTHIAN MARTINEZ – stats sheet down.
LHP MARIANO GOMEZ has been rocked steady all three outings so far. His record 0-1, 1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 HR, 0 BB, 0 SO, 10.80 ERA, .400 AvAg. Not pretty.
VENEZUELA
SS LUIS BOLIVAR it appears is not going to be our answer at SS in ATLANTA, at least, not anytime soon.7 G, 21 AB, 4 H, 0 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 0 BB, 4 SO, .190 OBP, .190 SLG, .190 BA, .381 OPS.
LHP LUIS AVILAN is not ready for primer-time even in AA based upon his performances so far in VENEZUELA. 4 G, 0-0, 2.1 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 0 HR, 2 BB, 2 SO, 23.14 ERA, .462 AvAg.
RHP STEPHEN MAREK may be our righty answer in the bull-pen sooner rather than later based upon his fall ball experience to date. He’s been out three times and there’s so many zeros I get dizzy looking at them. 3 G, 0-0,3.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 HR, 0 HB, 3 BB, 2 SO, 0.00 ERA, .000 AvAg. Only the BB-SO ratio looks a bit suspect at this point.
Doc-No, KJ is an ex-Brave because he hit under .230 his last year as a Brave. He did better in Arizona – a hitter’s paradise. In addition, he played 79 games in LF five full seasons (almost six) ago. Yeah, he did OK – no errors and 6 Outfield Assists, but didn’t we just have all the sh## defense in LF that we can tolerate? Why bring in someone with little experience and none of that recently? Go get someone who actually plays outfield – enough of this ex Brave return to Atlanta crap. Been there and done that. Lie I said – didn’t work when they were here and won’t work now, either.
San Diego is getting the 49ers/ Broncos game this morning. San Francisco is getting the 49ers/ Broncos. The east coast is getting the 49ers/ Broncos. Why am I being forced to watch Jacksonville and Dallas?

I always appreciate your minor league updates. I tend to renew my BasbeballAmerica subscription for the draft, so I know what’s going on the Braves farms….but I rarely check winter league results so thanks again for your updates.
I bet Marek’s in the pen for Braves next year…and maybe Matt Young does get a honest look with a new manager at the helm.
I’m not proud to say that I watched one of the most vile, offensive and misogynistic movies I’ve ever seen last night .. but I laughed so hard I was in pain, at times. You’re welcome. There’s a winter ball stats page somewhere in the mlb site, and I can’t find the cotton-pickin’ thing again.
If Texas wins the World Series, Frenchy will be showing that ring off forever. He’ll be explaining to people “It took my blood, sweat and tears to achieve something like this and I’m proud to have helped push the Rangers to their first World Title.”
Has he even started one game in the postseason yet?
I find the selection of Parrish curious, given the fact that Presley was a Gonzalez cohort while with the Marlins. This is especially pointed, given that the Braves insisted on keeping Roger McDowell – correctly – when new managers normally bring their own pitching coach; we all hope that there is an instant connection between Roger and Fredi. That said, I am happy that the organization went away from the norm and the expected in order to bring fresh air into the hitting issues.
Pete, I wish you ultimate victory in the fight of your life, for your life!
“Anybody else into bringing KJ back and play him in LF”
I don’t know Doc, lets talk about it. At least it’s something new to discuss for a change.
It was brought up yesterday too – I posted his 2010 home/road splits further up on Mega-page. I think they need to be heavily considered whenever discussing KJ (given his 2010 home ballpark):
KJ 2010 home/road splits:
home: .311/.396/.580 in 293ABs (.976 OPS), 16 HR, 21 2B, 5 3B and a 41 BB/65 SO ratio.
away: .257/.343/.411 in 292 ABs (.754 OPS), 10 HR, 15 2B, 0 3B, and a 38 BB/83 SO ratio.
Oh boy, and I was being sarcastic about the KJ thing. I appologize if I mislead y’all. I have zero interest in KJ or bringing him back to Atlanta. Been there anbd done it, haven’t we? I sure as hell hope they can do a lot better than Kelly.
Dont forget braves are not into spending much…………its not that I like KJ that much, but Im sure they are not going after Crawford nor Werth or anyone on their league
Doc, KJ being a lefty turns me off even more. We need a righty in the middle of the lineup or teams are gonna to be going to that lefty in the pen a ton on us. I wouldn’t mind seeing them go and get Upton. He’s RH and he’d definitely give you a good defensive CF. Kemp is another guy, but you know they’d want a ton for him. Probably too much.
David O’Brien, have you seen Jackass 3D yet? Because it is indeed beyond funny. More like vulgar, gross beyond words, hilarious, disgusting, gut busting and not for anybody with a weak stomach.
But damn, Jackass is entertaining and bring your own puke bucket
nolie, just got back from trick or treating. Geez, if you’re not a little kid in a costume people won’t give you much candy at all. Weird people out there.
Lincecum, Cain, Sanchez, Bumgarner and Zito is one heck of a starting rotation for the Giants the next few years, but you wonder what they can do to improve their offense with Burrell, Huff, Uribe, Renteria all being free agents. Plus, Ross/Freddy Sanchez are free agents after next year, Torres/Rowand not exactly sure things and Sandoval might never capture what he accomplished his rookie year. Buster Posey is really the only thing they can hang their hat on from a position player standpoint. First base prospect Brandon Belt being the only near ready player.
“I know Fox was happy and we were happy.” – Bud Selig about the game 1 TV rating of 8.9.
FYI: The low down…
Through three games Fox is averaging 13.7 million viewers. Last years Yankees/Philly matchup averaged 19.4 million. The 1995 Braves/Indians averaged 28.9 million. – The Nielsen Company
I’ve seen a lot of love for Kerry Wood to be closer. What about Matt Capps. IMO, Kerry Wood is very inconsistent but thats just me. I like Capps and he wouldn’t be bad to add to Kimbrel and Venters.
It will be Kimbrel for closer. We might go for someone like Rauch who can be the 7 or 8 th inning guy but stand in as a closer occasionally. No point spending on a closer when we have a guy who has been groomed for that over the last year. Better use for that money in the OF.
Oh c’mon Doc you can’t believe the guys is gonna hit 330 in the bigs. The improvement he made in an Independent League over A ball is up his BA 80 some points, that is extremely unlikely to continue. he’s likely be even less help than Mitch Jones was last year. Dream on

With a 2010 BB/SO ratio of 79/148.

When your SB leader has only 11 (Heyward) and your RBI leader has only 77 (McCann), then you know your offense is bad and needs dramatic changes.
