Not sure why everyone thinks chipper is a lock for a batting coach someday… If i remember correctly every time his average started to dip the past year or so after that season where he led the league, he always struggles and then has to have a sit down with his dad to try and figure his swing out…. love chip to death but do we want him giving instruction to players when he cant figure it out his own hitting problems sometimes? Just a thought

I agree . Hitting coach would be someone from the 1991-1992 teams the braves Had …Like the great Otis Nixon , Ron Gant , David Justice . Those guys are the best hitters Atlanta has ever had in my view . Chipper Jones should be in the top 5 of the greatest Hitters Atlanta braves has ever had in my view. so could he be the hitting coach of the braves one day ? well if he wants to . But I would give the 1st 3 players that chance first .

Also if you want numbers …Chipper life time average is well over 300 . Meaning is he 1 of the best hitters of this decade . How does he rank over all in historic views going back to the 1800s of MLB recorded history data . well its hard to say . But he could be up there . The point is . He is one of the best Atlanta has ever had . Let him play for a good 5 more years first . get that average up

Right field ..Jason hayward
center Jones Andrew < Great dreams player …. I would want him on the team

Even if it is a joke, anyone suggesting Otis Nixon was one of the greatest Atlanta hitters makes ME dumber. And Ron Gant? They would all be hitting mile-high popups with him as hitting coach.

I think JJ will bounce back next year, but the comments from some of the posters about prefering him over Hanson because you “can’t trust” Hanson in the post season are idiotic. First, JJ has NEVER pitched in the post season so he has no track records. Second, Hanson made one mistake to Burrell in his one appearance but other than that he pitched fine. Thank god some of you clowns aren’t the GM of this team.

I know this maybe not in the reason of reality . But it would be sweet if the Atlanta Braves signed every player from the 1998 team for 1 more ride . Chipper is already on the team . All they would need to do is go after the rest . That was the best team they ever produced . over 106 wins and 56. That was one heck of a hitting team . 4 players had over 30 home runs in that season .

I can’t imagine the Braves settling for a cheap or defesively deficient outfielder, and they don’t have the money for Werth or Crawford. Trading either prospects or Jurrjens is the only conceivable way to get a real CF. Nate McLouth is actually an OK defender in left, so I think as long as we get a real CF who can play that very tough position, we could be alright in the outfield. Ellsbury can’t play CF, so don’t bother suggesting him. B.J. Upton would be a good “buy low” trade candidate if the Rays think Jennings is ready, but they don’t have much use for Jurrjens, so they’d probably want prospects. This is a tough offseason for Wren.
