What are you planning to do with your new found free time, now that your club is officially defunct? :-)

I don’t know, Snot but let’s hope I don’t have to create anymore clubs like that.

Does the VP of the club have any comment on this? Ahem, CB…

What better place to announce the release of Melky than from Celebration, Florida? Coincidence? Maybe. Fitting? Defintely.

The bad thing is, when the Nate trade was made, some people (me included) were excited that we would have him for two and a half seasons

not me. I said all winter that he would be a disaster

Thinking Nate will be the 4th OF is wishful thinking…

That would be assuming we have signed and/or traded for two players of worth…

We do not have the money to do that and sit a 6.5M man as the 4th OF IMO…

Braves release Melky is great news. I hope we can pick up someone good, not someone who Wren thinks may be good. We saw how well that went over when we traded Chavez and Jo-Jo to teams and got more mediocrity as replacements. Hell, we haven’t had a great long term outfield since we got rid of Andruw Jones. Granted, Jones was not too good of a hitter, but he made up for it in his defense.

Fine, then, LOL. Heyward has an MVP-type season, Freeman wins ROY, McCann returns to pre-vision-problem form, Chipper plays 130, Nate gets to league-average, and Gonzalez manages to have a few ABs without making an out. Oh, yeah, and all the pitchers stay healthy, plus Kimbrell saves 40.

That’ll be all they really need for success. Then, whatever semi-pukeable scrub Wren manages to install in LF can do his impersonation of a legit hitter, and it just won’t matter a tinker’s damn. :-)

.Don: your post at 12:07 p.m. doesn’t make sense. You said earlier that starting pitching WILL be a problem. Then, in this post, you say “The pitching could be good or it could be a huge problem.” – isn’t that the same for everything in this game? The hitting could be great, too… but it could also be a huge problem. Same can be said for the coaching, etc.

Very good point. Maybe one of those guys can let us know if the Braves should stand pat and pencil in 101 wins and at least a spot in the NLCS.

Robert is on the record saying the Braves have enough offense as is, and all they need to do is show up at 7:00 am on off days and work on fundamentals.

Jeez, I bet if you looked up “piece of work” in the dictionary you would find his name.

Well maybe not yet but you will……………..

Thanks for your definition of piece of work!

I had two favorite Melky moments this year and by favorite I mean moments that really Pi$$ed me off. The first was Melky’s throw to the RF fence from center with runners circling the bases. If that had been Escobar Bobby would have stabbed him. I really enjoyed watching him laugh after.

My second was being at Turner Field watching Uggla crush a ball off the LF wall and Melky never moved a muscle until the ball hit the wall and bounced toward the infield. Had he broke on the ball no way Uggla gets to second because it waas hit so hard he was barely out of the box when it hit the wall. He would not have scored without the double. His lack of ambition again cost the Braves a run. He got booed pretty bad over that one.

I will not miss him.
