I mean, seriously, did any long-time Braves’ fan think Cox would manage smartly in post-season….
Any one?
C’mon there has to be 1 or 2…..Kool-Aiders out there…
When you last made the postseason in 2005—And last advanced past the opening round in 2001 after blown out early 2002 thru 2005, did you think Cox would change?
At least tonight, he’s thinking out of the box.
Fitting….after game #3, Braves’ season one game away from a box.
If Glaus boots one tonight or can’t field any bunts can you imagine what this blog will look like? Should be fun.
I do agree with some posters though. It was Kimbrel’s game to cough up, Cox blew that match up. It almost feels that he is managing to not lose. I think bringing Hernandez in as a defensive substitute would have been a good idea too.
It’s obvious Coach has never been a Major League manager or he would have his moniker as “Manager”, not Coach. He may have attempted, but he was obviously not good enough.
Thank you for some perspective. Everyone has a bad stretch – Conrad’s is just there for everyone to see.
And really, Conrad’s role isn’t a starting infielder. He’s supposed to be a bat off the bench and an emergency backup. But because of all the injuries, he had to start.
I can understand everyone being frustrated with him – with a good fielding 2B yesterday, we’d be up 2-1 – but booing him isn’t going to help…it’s only going to make things worse. It’ll just get in his head even more
That’s right, attack the blogger. Not the most overrated manager in major league history.
And ya’ll are gonna love this stat: Bobby Cox is now 67-68 in the post season. He has lost more post season games than any other manager in ML history.

2011 is right…this has to be the slowest lineup in postseason play!!! Don’t get me wrong, i’m not complaining about Glaus playing…but we are SLOW. Oh well, this could get interesting if not comical, espiecially if the report is true on ESPN that Glaus is throwing it all over the yard……Leave it to our Bravos
jeffrey d – the real mystery is that there is a good fielding 2B sitting on the bench watching this. And if he isn’t good enough for Bobby, we could have pulled anyone who was in our farm system on Aug. 31 and put them on the roster instead. Is our farm really this bad?
If Glaus boots one tonight or can’t field any bunts can you imagine what this blog will look like? Should be fun.
Oh my goodness, I never thought about this, but the blog during Conrad’s 3rd error last night must have been INSANE (even for our standards). I’ll bet a couple older model computers actually broke.
Not it at all. I’d be OK if folks think I am wrong. Like I said, I am wrong a lot.
But you 3 dipsticks decided that instead of agreeing or disagreeing, instead you’d read between the lines that I don’t like our military folks or that I was disprespecting hard working folks.
Idiots, I say. Idiots. I am surrounded by (3) idiots!
Now go crawl back under the rock you came out from please (see, I asked you nicely).
And by the way, Brooks Conrad’s third error last night wasn’t his fault. He got screened by the umpire and couldn’t see the ball until it was right on top of him.
Don’t know about Glaus, but if I were thrown into a sudden death playoff game, on bad knees, and after not playing third in a ML game in ages (OK, very briefly, one game), I’d be drunk.
Man I was furious last night, but at this point I just feel bad for Conrad. By all accounts he is a great guy and the kind of player I like to see on the team. Anybody can have a bad stretch and unfortunately that can get in a guy’s head, which just makes things worse. Booing from the fans? That doesn’t help either. I’ll admit that I had some not so nice thoughts about Connie last night and I said some things not fit for publication, but I really hope he gets a pinch hit opportunity and the fans show the guy some love.
Honey, bring me the bottle of scotch(this is going to be a long night)!

He will be tested early, and now CABRAVEFAN says i can’t bitch about glaus at third, because thats what i wanted, so he better do his job…because me, and not bitching about the Braves, is hard to do….
I don’t know if it was mentioned here, but Jimmy Carter, Ted Turner, and Danny Glover were at the game yesterday (well…not together). It was cool seeing them there
Thank god Conrad is not in the lineup! He SUCKS!!!! No wonder he has never been a starter! I love Bobby Cox but i hold him a little responsible for the loss yesterday. We should have had Glaus at 3rd and Infante at 2nd for the past 2 weeks. Conrad is only good as a pinch hitter every once in a while, and on defense if we have at least a 10 run lead, but I am sure he will find a way to screw it up. The way he is playing, he’d f**k up a wet dream!
You open your self up to attacks with the repetitive banter about the most respected manager in the game. Some how your ego tells you that your opinion is what matters, when really, your just the catalyst for you own embarrassment.

The good news is that Glaus is not in the upper third of the lineup. Dropping Heyward was just common sense. My spider senses do not like Glaus in the lineup tonight, but I have been wrong many times before.
Me!? I put Diory at 3B and have him hit 8th. With Lowe pitching, I want the best defense I can put out there tonight. Like old Padres great Randy Jones, the secret to Lowe’s effectiveness on short rest is that his sinker breaks even better when his arm is tired than when it is fully rested. Consequently, fewer K’s, but more grounders, hopefully of the weak variety.
Really folks, the Braves have been a team in decline for the past 2 months. It sad that Conrad has to be blamed for what is a total lack of offense. I think the Braves a fortunate to win one game the way these guys a swinging the bat. All the hitters are getting behind in the count and then swinging at balls they can’t do anythin with. The Gaints pitches are being aggressive especially on the forst pitch because they know none of the hitters are hot so they are hoping for walks. This especially noticable with J Heyward who is taking pitches right nown the middle. You can’t win if you can’t score period. Conrad is just the scapegoat.

What the heck do any of us know? Jesus, Cox’s best 2B at this point is Brooks Conrad, for cryin’ out loud. And then that dude gets the freaking yips, and we’ve gotta resort to Troy Glaus’ 80-year-old knees at 3B.
What’s he gonna do? Wake Eddie Mathews from the dead and get a 28-year-old Hank Aaron for LF? This team’s got no O.
I love the lineup tonight. Moving Heyward down is a good call and putting Diaz in the two hole versus a lefty is another good move, at least on paper, by Bobby as well. And finally bringing Glaus into play 3rd should be both interesting and potentially very good for the offense. Let’s go get it tonight boys!! Go Braves!!

I know, that’s why I was fairly sure that comment wasn’t from you, or likely just from someone else named Trey.
Funny Wayne, the three people that disagree with you are idiots. And yet no one agreed with you.
See Wayne, what happened is that we all disagree with you that baseball players work harder than 90 percent of americans. We then used specific examples to demonstrate that some people do work harder than them.
But hey whatever Wayne. You called me out twice today. The first time I let it go. Had better things to do. But when you spew diluted nonsense, I will call you on it. We put the question to the blog and no one came to your defense. No one agreed with you that 90 percent of Americans work harder than baseball players. Maybe next time people will agree with you. You know, when you say something that makes sense.
I hope the Braves win big tonight and Brooks can feel some relief from that. He played some great games this summer. Move forward Brooks, it will get better! Go Braves!!!!!!!!!
Glaus’s defense won’t be any better than Chipper’s.
I mean honestly if you think about it Chipper ain’t so hot at 3rd either, while he can probably make plays Glaus can’t, if Chipper wasn’t hurt it’s not like we’d have a big upside on defense.
Just saying…..Prado though would be an upside at 3rd, but defensively Chipper and Glaus are about in the same class.

Go Braves!!

Coach, I didn’t ask how long you have been blogging here. I asked how many games you managed. Your response was completely pointless.

Easy on the Coach. He may be a crusty old azzhole, but he’s OUR crusty old azzhole.
(I know this as fact, as I am one myself!)
Let’s play ball.
Gotta leave now folks. I am crazy about most of ya, but there are enough jackwagons here to ruin my perfect evening.
cabravesfan: Keep that record of anybody who beatches about Troy. As Baseball Czar, I’ll deal with em later!
11-2, Braves win in 9!

Well, you are consistent, I’ll give ya that…the rest? Oy.

Sit back and enjoy the game, dude.

MIBravesFan, it usually happens if I start getting into it with someone. I usually think it is the person that I piss off, like I believe that could have been Coach as Coach is the one who was bashing Bobby.

It’s obvious Coach has never been a Major League manager or he would have his moniker as “Manager”, not Coach. He may have attempted, but he was obviously not good enough.
Not necessarily Trey. I was a Little League manager, but my players and their parents called me Coach. Sounds better than someone saying “hey Manager!”

You know something… 11 for 6?
How about F 11 for 6.
How about 2 for 5 million. This city deserves two more wins.
It’s the absolute least the Braves could do.
F Bobby Cox. He doesn’t deserve to win.
We deserve to win. We’re the ones who put up with this year after year after year.
Just don’t let us have to see a team who frankly doesn’t deserve to win this series win this series.
Please God.
Are you listening?
Of course not. What a stupid thing to say.

Actually, 26 teams. The Reds and the Twins have already not made it as far as the Braves.

Ah yes, Mitchell deserves this win. He’s such a great fan.
I’d prefer to call him a “pathetic” fan, but given how he must obviously see that as a term of endearment, I’d best think of something else.
