Coincidence that VJ left and we score 4 runs? I think not!
Well Brooksie you can start 3rd base the rest of the year! I want Brooks batting in every big spot.
Nice blog, DOB!
Brooks would like a few of you to know what you can do with the so-called blog curse. (smile)
By the way, that’s his first homer before the 7th inning (8th homer overall)
Who would have thought in March that Brooks Conrad would have 8 HRs this year — including two of the biggest of the season?
Well, here’s Melky to end the inning and leave D Lowe to leadoff the next inning….
You think the baseball writers would appreciate the Braves more. just a scrap heap of guys
4 runs in 3 innings. How F’n stupid do you have to be to have been running your mouth since the 1st?
Who is that guy?
The Plain Dealer!
Maybe it’s not something anyone wants to hear….. but all the runs last night and so far today…..courtesy of your normal bench players. Conrad, Hinske, Ross.
P-Town Brave ©
The alarm clock went off early today…
(Yes, that is me doing the chop in my office right now)
Brave4life- We almost had it
September 29th, 20105:42 pm
Thats the way!
Put it on them BAD today.
Corky Miller's Beer Gut
DOB what is Lowes pitch count at?
September 29th, 20105:43 pm
4-0, after Brooks Conrad’s homerun. Broke through against Miller.
Now you can comment. Jim, you get to see a team that will be playing in November. Savor it. You can tell your grandkids you saw the team that won 4 or 5 series in a 6 year period
P-town … I’d rather him hit line drives somewhere.
I like that he cares. That’s cool.
But that body language after EVERY pop-up … I don’t know, just irks me for some reason.
Milky is like a bad friend. He gives it to you when you don’t need it at all.
BUT, when you need it? Ain’t nuthin’ there, boy.
Now the pitcher leads off the next inning.
60 pitches for Lowe so far.
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:

Bobby’s Cox I have more confidence in Ross right now that McCann. Is that sad?
Standing Room Only Tickets available This Weekend, I might have to go…?.
HA, and my dad wanted Joe Thurston after ST instead…
I give him crap every chance I get on that one
That’s also his first HR batting RH this year (or at least 1st against a lefty pitcher).
i love 1 pitch 1 outs
I think when Conrad was used on a semi-regular basis a while back, he was losing steam as a semi-everyday player. Then when Prado took over 3B for Chipper, Conrad was reduced back to the bench and spot starting. It gave Conrad rest and time to focus on getting back to normal. I think with Prado going down and the time frame of how much Conrad will be a regular starter now, Conrad is fresh and ready.
Same with Hinske. Hinske was losing steam as an everyday guy. Once he got rest and went to bench role duties, he rested and got re-focused.
on the radio they were saying that for the phillies series, neither oswalt or halladay will pitch, and hamels will probably have only 2-3 innings.
that’s definitley some good news, especially having lowe for game 2 and probably huddy for game 3. beachy taking game 1.
Lowe’s at 60 pitches.
September 29th, 20105:45 pm
man brooks really coming through when we needed. We can ride him, Lowe, and ol’ Hinske into the WS. ok I’m stretching a bit. hahahaha
JC from DR!
Marlins broadcast trivia:
”Who has played the most games for Bobby Cox?”
Is that even a serious question??
Lowe’s at 65 pitches with two out in the fourth (Corky Miller’s Beer Gut asked)
I was one of a few who wanted to see Thurston over Conrad, based on spring training play. However, I’ve eaten my crow since Brooks’ 1st Grand Slam against Reds, since then I’ve changed my stance.
Wow, Lowe in 2nd gear this September. Really wants the playoffs
7 Ks for D Lowe
September 29th, 20105:46 pm
I gotta agree, but w/ Alex you gotta know at this point what you’re gonna get…he is nothing more than a career .260 hitter w/ some pop…
So he may have some bad games, but he’ll also have some good ones, and he won’t kill you with his glove or lackadaisical play like someone i recall…
By the way … Braves have over 100 RBIs out of the catcher spot season. I think it’s now at 106 after Ross’s double. Far and away the most in baseball.
September 29th, 20105:47 pm
Yea Philly fan,
It will be an honor sitting in the same stands with obnoxious Philly fans like yourself this weekend.
Don’t want to jinx Lowe, so I won’t say how awesome he looks today.
Lowe looks hungry man. He wants the ball after every pitch. He’s working fast. Looks confident. Looks like he’s having fun out there.
September 29th, 20105:48 pm
This Stanton AB is aggravating.
Kid isnt supposed to spoil those kinds of pitches.
good inning, D-Lowe …. good inning ….
September 29th, 20105:49 pm
Way to GO, Lowe!!! Quick and DURTY!!!
shmoe still believes
yes clutch connie does it again!
Lowe is clutch.
Too bad Wren tried to trade Lowe so bad or id give him some credit for signing him
September 29th, 20105:50 pm
Bobby’s Cox @5:47 -
Yessir! Couldn’t come at a better time also.
Just need six from Lowe on short rest
Without Lowe and hanson this month the Braves would be in deep doo
I would like to see Lowe pitch 6 then saito, everyday, and wags just to play it somewhat safe and let saito get some work
Brooks should enjoy this season, because He probably will be back in Gwinnett next year. Caught lightning in a bottle for 1 year, – 30 year old minor leaguers usually fizzle out after a year or two.
Let’s score some more runs so we can see Martinez and Farnsworth eat innings today. Farnsworth can pitch the seventh and Martinez can pitch the last two innings, give the rest of the pen a breather.
I wonder how Bobby uses the pen today
Lowe may make you scratch your head during the regular season, but during the end or close to the end of the season and in the post season, he is clutch.
TOTALLY SUCKS TO NOT BE ABLE TO WATCH THE BRAVES PLAY TODAY! I LIVE IN TENNESSEE AND WE CAN’T EVEN WATCH IT ONLINE. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE. BLACKOUTS ARE AWFUL
If we make the playoffs, I don’t want to hear squat about Lowe. He earned his salary if he helps us get to the postseason
September 29th, 20105:51 pm
I dont want Lowe to go more than 6 today and I dont want to use Wagner, Kimbrel, Venters, or Moylan. Rest for them would be nice.
Hopefully we can pad our lead and be 2.0 games up.
Like i said in the previous blog. Marlins have shown appreciation to Cox by starting Miller today. The best gift he has gotten from any of the teams. a Free win.
Game’s on ESPN
BravesFanChris26 – good points in your 5:44. I was thinking along those lines about Ske last night, that it’s good to have him been back in that bench role where he’s rested and ready to come in and do what he does so well – provide power off the bench. We’re going to need Brooksy now every day, but every day these days is a far different situation than every day during the regular season.
September 29th, 20105:52 pm
i say lowe is done after next inning. put martinez with the 4 run lead
I hate That “Shawty Got Low” Song They Play when Derek Lowe comes to hit!
September 29th, 20105:53 pm
P-Town … by the way, I’m not saying I dont like Gonzo as a player. He ain’t great, but he’s solid. He’s had enough big hits this year to earn his keep.
A player, yes PLAYER, like Conrad, gutsy, and no BS type, may be the missing link this team has been waiting for. And to think that we all know how hurt poor Martin played the last couple of weeks, and Conrad never got a chance to play. Thanks God Bobby decided to play him over Glaus…Remember Scott Brosius run with the Yanks, and how vital he was to their championships? Not an incredible player, just clutch. Brooks might bring the same to us. Let’s pull for him.
September 29th, 20105:54 pm
the game is there you just have to look for it
September 29th, 20105:55 pm
DOB: Brooks would like a few of you to know what you can do with the so-called blog curse. (smile)
And Bobby Cox would like a few of you to know where you can shove the lineup card.
stop saying playoffs chip !!! jinx us !!
No no…I wasn’t sayin that at all…
Just basically sayin I prefer those types of guys to the happy go lucky it’ll turn around guy or the i’m confused and i don’t know how to get out of this slump guy…
Also helps that I’m more in the Gonzo/Hinske fired up type of player when I play as well…
Heyward takes way too many pitches
September 29th, 20105:56 pm
Where did Heyward go?
Seems to be fighting off everything instead of attacking it. Even 91 mph fastballs right down the middle.
Does Lowe pitch game one in the playoffs if we make it? go with the hot hand
How are all the Lowe haters now, guy looks awesome
September 29th, 20105:57 pm
tough like Heyward
September 29th, 2010
Heyward takes way too many pitches
Yes and that is HOW he gets a near 400 OBP… kid is effing GR8
“Heyward takes way too many pitches”
Go take a look at Heyward’s On Base Percentage groundfog.
September 29th, 20105:58 pm
I Seriously Hope Connie has turned the AWFense Around, before he started The AWFense look as if they were scared when we were hitting with runners on base
Exactly. The circumstances are different now compared to playing during the season everyday. I think with the season winding down and the possibility of post season play, Brooks is a fine everyday player for that stretch.
Same with Hinske. Play him everyday while he’s hot, then when his focus is lost, put him back into the bench role. Same with Conrad.
So now with the rest and time for refocusing, Hinske and Conrad are well fresh for the stretch run. It is starting to show too.
Of course Lowe pitches in the playoffs. We only have 3 true ML starters right now.
Seems though as if he’s more concerned w/ his OBP than driving the ball and getting hits…
September 29th, 20105:59 pm
Just got home from work and I’m glad to see we’re up 4-0!
A gift balk!!!!!!!!!
Nice Balk…We Could’ve used that in a close game!
I would rather have Heyward hit a few more homers or extra base hits than walks. OBP aint everything
September 29th, 2010
Does Lowe pitch game one in the playoffs if we make it? go with the hot hand”
If Huddy actually pitches as scheduled on Sunday, Derek would basically have to pitch a game one. That sounds good to me, but I guess we’ll have to see if the plans change between now and Sunday.
September 29th, 20106:00 pm
Yeah, P-Town…I think, if one thing’s been made clear this season, it’s that Jason Heyward is a stats-first guy. Worried abou his OBP. Goooooooooooood call……
I said does he pitch game one, of course he pitches.. Huddy lowe and Hanson all the way
September 29th, 20106:01 pm
What chu talkin’ ’bout Tomahawkin? The Shawty get low song is rough! Just kidding.
Brooks was here.
Heyward takes way too many pitches
According to some thats how we got him. He took a lot of pitches in high school too. Didn’t give some teams enough of him to see, walking so much.
September 29th, 20106:02 pm
Well, D-Lee at least got on base twice this game. That’s something positive. Still hasnt been worth a flip with runners on base — but he did walk twice.
What a wonderful AB that was …. take three pitches. Go get your glove.
On Base Percentage may not be everything, but being a patient hitter is a pretty nice skill to have.
cabravesfan….espn showing nfl live. tried to get it on espn3 and it said was blacked out. bummer. only way to follow is with DOB tweets or gamecast
September 29th, 20106:03 pm
That right there has happened at a WAY too alarming rate with WAY too many players…
Guys are either getting 1 swing or 0 swings an AB….
This has got to stop if we want to go anywhere if we make the playoffs…
September 29th, 20106:04 pm
Can’t you listen to the game on the 680 the fan website?
Wow- that’s crappy! can you do the radio? (maybe over the internet?)
“What chu talkin’ ’bout Tomahawkin? The Shawty get low song is rough! Just kidding.”
I Hate That Song! If I’m at a Party/Club and If I Hear that Pop Tart Garbage, It Kills My Buzz…!
September 29th, 20106:05 pm
OH NO!!! That’s way too early in the game for Connie. Who will save us in the late innings today???
