Who would have thought in March that Brooks Conrad would have 8 HRs this year — including two of the biggest of the season?
Well, here’s Melky to end the inning and leave D Lowe to leadoff the next inning….

I think when Conrad was used on a semi-regular basis a while back, he was losing steam as a semi-everyday player. Then when Prado took over 3B for Chipper, Conrad was reduced back to the bench and spot starting. It gave Conrad rest and time to focus on getting back to normal. I think with Prado going down and the time frame of how much Conrad will be a regular starter now, Conrad is fresh and ready.

Same with Hinske. Hinske was losing steam as an everyday guy. Once he got rest and went to bench role duties, he rested and got re-focused.

on the radio they were saying that for the phillies series, neither oswalt or halladay will pitch, and hamels will probably have only 2-3 innings.

BravesFanChris26 – good points in your 5:44. I was thinking along those lines about Ske last night, that it’s good to have him been back in that bench role where he’s rested and ready to come in and do what he does so well – provide power off the bench. We’re going to need Brooksy now every day, but every day these days is a far different situation than every day during the regular season.

A player, yes PLAYER, like Conrad, gutsy, and no BS type, may be the missing link this team has been waiting for. And to think that we all know how hurt poor Martin played the last couple of weeks, and Conrad never got a chance to play. Thanks God Bobby decided to play him over Glaus…Remember Scott Brosius run with the Yanks, and how vital he was to their championships? Not an incredible player, just clutch. Brooks might bring the same to us. Let’s pull for him.

Exactly. The circumstances are different now compared to playing during the season everyday. I think with the season winding down and the possibility of post season play, Brooks is a fine everyday player for that stretch.

Same with Hinske. Play him everyday while he’s hot, then when his focus is lost, put him back into the bench role. Same with Conrad.

So now with the rest and time for refocusing, Hinske and Conrad are well fresh for the stretch run. It is starting to show too.
