Who would have thought in March that Brooks Conrad would have 8 HRs this year — including two of the biggest of the season?
Well, here’s Melky to end the inning and leave D Lowe to leadoff the next inning….
Maybe it’s not something anyone wants to hear….. but all the runs last night and so far today…..courtesy of your normal bench players. Conrad, Hinske, Ross.
Now you can comment. Jim, you get to see a team that will be playing in November. Savor it. You can tell your grandkids you saw the team that won 4 or 5 series in a 6 year period
P-town … I’d rather him hit line drives somewhere.
I like that he cares. That’s cool.
But that body language after EVERY pop-up … I don’t know, just irks me for some reason.
I think when Conrad was used on a semi-regular basis a while back, he was losing steam as a semi-everyday player. Then when Prado took over 3B for Chipper, Conrad was reduced back to the bench and spot starting. It gave Conrad rest and time to focus on getting back to normal. I think with Prado going down and the time frame of how much Conrad will be a regular starter now, Conrad is fresh and ready.
Same with Hinske. Hinske was losing steam as an everyday guy. Once he got rest and went to bench role duties, he rested and got re-focused.
I was one of a few who wanted to see Thurston over Conrad, based on spring training play. However, I’ve eaten my crow since Brooks’ 1st Grand Slam against Reds, since then I’ve changed my stance.
Brooks should enjoy this season, because He probably will be back in Gwinnett next year. Caught lightning in a bottle for 1 year, – 30 year old minor leaguers usually fizzle out after a year or two.
Let’s score some more runs so we can see Martinez and Farnsworth eat innings today. Farnsworth can pitch the seventh and Martinez can pitch the last two innings, give the rest of the pen a breather.
Lowe may make you scratch your head during the regular season, but during the end or close to the end of the season and in the post season, he is clutch.
TOTALLY SUCKS TO NOT BE ABLE TO WATCH THE BRAVES PLAY TODAY! I LIVE IN TENNESSEE AND WE CAN’T EVEN WATCH IT ONLINE. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE. BLACKOUTS ARE AWFUL
I dont want Lowe to go more than 6 today and I dont want to use Wagner, Kimbrel, Venters, or Moylan. Rest for them would be nice.
Hopefully we can pad our lead and be 2.0 games up.
Like i said in the previous blog. Marlins have shown appreciation to Cox by starting Miller today. The best gift he has gotten from any of the teams. a Free win.
BravesFanChris26 – good points in your 5:44. I was thinking along those lines about Ske last night, that it’s good to have him been back in that bench role where he’s rested and ready to come in and do what he does so well – provide power off the bench. We’re going to need Brooksy now every day, but every day these days is a far different situation than every day during the regular season.
P-Town … by the way, I’m not saying I dont like Gonzo as a player. He ain’t great, but he’s solid. He’s had enough big hits this year to earn his keep.
A player, yes PLAYER, like Conrad, gutsy, and no BS type, may be the missing link this team has been waiting for. And to think that we all know how hurt poor Martin played the last couple of weeks, and Conrad never got a chance to play. Thanks God Bobby decided to play him over Glaus…Remember Scott Brosius run with the Yanks, and how vital he was to their championships? Not an incredible player, just clutch. Brooks might bring the same to us. Let’s pull for him.
Just basically sayin I prefer those types of guys to the happy go lucky it’ll turn around guy or the i’m confused and i don’t know how to get out of this slump guy…
Also helps that I’m more in the Gonzo/Hinske fired up type of player when I play as well…
