There are two guys who would fill spots in case of injury: Mike Dunn, and Brandon Beachy.
EOF is having dizziness and some other symptoms reminiscent of his mono from earlier in the season.

Sorry to show my ignorance, but what’s wrong with EOF?”
Apparently he’s again having some of the dizziness he had with the mono.
September 29th, 20109:22 pm
hey are they doing the blog awards this year?
Thanks, the always erudite Berg.
Wagner, Kimbrel, Venters, Dunn, Moylan, Farnsworth, & Martinez (bullpen)
Hudson, Lowe, & Hanson (starters)
JJ, Saito, & EOF are out for the first round (Beachy & Minor can sit in the dugout and soak up the experience).
McLouth is still out.

Crime dog-you don’t think I own my own company having the time to tee off on the baseball imposters of all time. When the hell are you going to win a series? Last time was 2001 as you lost in 1st round 4 consecutive years as you will this year. You don’t deserve that surname as Mcriff was a stud, not Ryan Howard but a stud. I’m, part owner of 5th largest textile company in US. I may seem like a sophmoric wizard posting this nonsense as I’ve never done this until I started reading this swirling spheer of gas commentary about everybody sucks when you lose and we’re the greatest when we win. Please be realistic about your chances of making a decibel of noise in the playoffs as they are rated #8 of the teams going into the suicidal attempt as a playodff contender with zero offense and shoddy defense. Relievers impressive but your ace Hudson will end up floating down the pardon the pun Hudson as you’re the last team the networks want in the big dance due to most fans are at home plugging in play by play. Leave that to the two bozos in the booth and go support your team for the one and only playoff game.
To clarify: Freeman is in, McLouth is out. He’s used to it.
September 29th, 20109:26 pm
And folks, puleeeeeeeeeeez IGNORE the interloper in the room from philly.
September 29th, 20109:29 pm
The Bloggies? I hope so
September 29th, 20109:30 pm
McJeffrey lee – those were hilarious last year
September 29th, 20109:31 pm
Who made them?
September 29th, 20109:33 pm
Proctor, Farnsworth, Martinez, Minor, Beachy, & KK – yes, KK – need to pitch this weekend once we clinch.
The best part of the bullpen needs to rest BIG TIME!!!
McJeffrey lee – i dont remember. I dont think he ever said who he was.
September 29th, 20109:34 pm
Well in that case it was me
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:

McJeffrey lee Well in that case it was me
Is it a heart attack when one of your arms starts tingling and you feel dizzy?
At any rate, that’s what happened when I tried to read the punctuation-lacking crap.
I actually think the Braves would be “ranked” seventh out of eight teams in the playoffs, but you know what…I say they go ahead and play anyway. Just in case. You know, crazier things have happened.
September 29th, 20109:39 pm
This bothers me…the question is “Which pitching line is most deserving of a Cy Young,” and America voted for the one with the option with the highest ERA but most wins
September 29th, 20109:40 pm
Wilbon was on the radio today and he basically agreed with America. It annoyed me too.
September 29th, 20109:41 pm
Greg Giraldo died.
Brave4life- We almost had it
September 29th, 20109:43 pm
many of us living outside of Atlanta dont get the feed of sports south and Peachtree. I get it because of MLB extra inning but dont have the luxury of watching the pre/post game interviews with the players, because they only provide the game. Is it possible You and the rest of the staff could do a live feed when they clinch (hopefully) inside the clubhouse. ESPN only shows like 1 minute of it. I am just asking if its possible??? I want to see the celebration
The Cy Young award, to me at least, shouldn’t be decided by your team’s offense. It’s an award for the best pitcher, and he can’t always control if he wins the game or not

September 29th, 20109:44 pm
Bringing up the showboat topic from yesterday (in regards to those who thought Hinske showed up the Marlins after his homer). Do you guys think Babe Ruth was showboating when he pointed out where he was going to hit a homerun? FYI – I appreciate showboating when done in the right spots. If done all year then it would be annoying but when your team is fighting for the playoffs and to score runs I WELCOME THAT KIND OF SWAGGER ANYTIME.
September 29th, 20109:45 pm
Halladay deserves the Cy young
He has like 10 CG this seasons, thats called being a reliable
Huddy will win Come back player of the year
Great win for Braves! Press on.
September 29th, 20109:46 pm
Anyone see that Javy only went 4.2 w/ 7ER
September 29th, 20109:47 pm
Wilbon said he doesn’t care if a pitcher has an ERA of 1.10. If they’re 13-12, they shouldn’t win. Their job is to win for their team, even if that means giving up 0 runs. I was shocked because I actually agree with Wilbon on a lot of stuff. I couldn’t possibly disagree more with this opinion though.

2 months ago I thought Wainwright was the obvious choice for Cy Young. 1 month ago I thought Huddy had a slight edge. Now I’m pretty sure it beongs to Halladay
Trey – funniest thing he ever did
September 29th, 20109:51 pm
FEAR, that’s a little harsh don’t you think?
September 29th, 20109:52 pm
Yo cabravesfan and anybody else out here in cali…you planning on going to SF if the Braves do?
well first of all he wasn’t funny. second of all he OD’d. I don’t respect that. Not like he died of cancer, a car wreck, or was mugged.
September 29th, 20109:53 pm
Hi guys any word if the Cubs game tonight is going to be on MLB network thanks
Tomas…I feel like they might want Diory or another middle infield type, maybe instead of Boscan?
September 29th, 20109:54 pm
FEAR, well he could have been drunk behind the wheel and gotten killed.
5th best record in baseball…not too shabby
Playoff rosters I think are set Monday for the 1st round. The one pitcher sure to be left off is Farnsworth especially if Saito is back. Freeman will be on the roster instead of Glaus as Lee’s backup ditto Diory for SS if needed. Freeman just brings too big a bat not to be included not to mention defense. Glaus? Well we all appreciate what he did for about a month and change but it’s a new season now and it is evident Glaus is not in the plans.
September 29th, 20109:55 pm
Trey and that would be stupid too.
no one has mentioned Martinez. What happened to him? he’s been good.
September 29th, 20109:56 pm
Btw how did the make it 5-1 ? The only reason that I’m asking this.Is because Time Warner Cable which i have.Lost the single to sports-south right when it was 4-1 braves .Thanks alt
hinske walked with bases packed

>>> not happy that Saturday game is on fox .That mean by the time the game is over. And by the time we clinch the wild cards.I will be working at espnu logging college football games. We must clinch on Friday night
September 29th, 201010:02 pm
FEAR, very true.
September 29th, 201010:03 pm
Diory will have to be on the roster. Dunn will also be on the roster – he has been too effective of a reliever. Even if the Braves go to a 3 man rotation for the 1st round, Beachy should be there as a starter if needed and long reliever (hopefully not needed). The Braves will only carry 2 catchers. Farnesworth has pitched better lately but I do not see him beating out Kimbral (or at least I hope he does not). Freeman will be on the team not for his bat but for his defense
September 29th, 201010:04 pm
When Bobby brought in Wagner in a non-save situation with Farnsworth warmed up I think that tells you all you need to know about his post season roster chances. Thought that was a very interesting move especially after Wagner had pitched the night before and thus could have had two nights off.
September 29th, 201010:09 pm
Brian….unless Lee gets hurt Freeman will only be a late inning replacement if that in the playoffs. Much more valuable as a PH threat. Agree otherwise with your assessment.
September 29th, 201010:10 pm
Kosuke walks, 0 outs
September 29th, 201010:11 pm
1st and 2nd, 0 outs
Come on Marlon
September 29th, 201010:12 pm
If the Braves can just acquire a CF in the offseason and if the injured players can return to form, I see no reason why the Braves will not be a favorite for the World Series next year. Pitching will be strong with Hudson, Hanson, Jurrjens, Lowe, and Beachy/Minor. Bullpen will again be a strength. McCann, Freeman, Prado, Gonzo, Chipper, Infante LF, new CF, and Heyward will be a formidable lineup. Resigning Hinske will be key for our bench along with Brooks Conrad. Diory is a good backup middle IF.
As much as Cox has done to deserve criticism this year, credit has to go somewhere for the Braves to be where they are despite the injuries and carrier bad play. The Braves have missed Jurrjens for much of the year. Medlen who was our 2nd to 3rd best pitcher has missed most of the second half of the season. Chipper had very little production until the end of June and then shortly after the all-star break tore his ACL. Nate has been historically bad in CF. Glaus, except for an incredible 5-6 week period, has been terrible. Prado has missed the crucial last week. Diaz, Melky, and Ankiel have given little to no production. Heyward basically was unproductive for 6+ weeks (1 month after the injury then the actual DL stint). Saito has been only used sparsely the past 4-6 weeks.
Most of the other playoff years the Braves avoided serious injuries while getting carrier years from many – JD Drew, Jaret Wright, and the whole list of 4-5th starters we ran through. This year has been nearly the opposite.
If the Braves can make the playoffs despite the significant obstacles, that will be as good a tribute to Cox as any ceremony can be
September 29th, 201010:13 pm
stolen base babay
2nd, 3rd – 0 outs
September 29th, 201010:14 pm
agree Rock on but if the Braves have the lead late I would look for Freeman to take over at 1B and Ankiel to take over in CF. I don’t blame Cox at all to put them in late in games after watching time and again our D fail us.
Lee may not have range but he is a vacuum cleaner at 1B
thanks Rock On
doubel steal for da cubs!
September 29th, 201010:15 pm
cmon aramis. go yard.
September 29th, 201010:16 pm

inning going down the drain
Lincecum gives up a leadoff homerun.
September 29th, 201010:17 pm
Cubssss…………….Aramis and Marlon fail miserably now it’s up to Nady.
Cito Gaston reflecting on being hired as the Jays manager.
“They asked me if I’d take the job and the first thing I asked was whether I could take care of my coaches. And they looked at me, like, ‘What’s wrong?’ I said I want to be able to take them out for dinner, take them for drinks. Because that’s the way Bobby Cox was with us (in the early 1980s). I never had a coaching staff as close as that coaching staff. There were only four of us, (pitching coach Al) Widmar, Jimy (Williams), (bullpen coach John) Sullivan and myself. We went everywhere together, with Bobby. That’s what I wanted, too.’’
- A. Ramirez struck out swinging
do we want the giants to win or lose?
September 29th, 201010:18 pm
i know none of you want D Lowe in the rotation. he sucks and doesn’t need to be in MLB
right??? oh wait, that was last month….sorry…
September 29th, 201010:19 pm
September 29th, 2010
lose i think.
they could have used Lee right there
September 29th, 201010:20 pm
FEAR, without question, we want them to lose.
Bravefaninok – then wouldnt that mean it’s closer to a 3 way race for the WC?
If the Braves win the WC, we look likely to play SF in the NLDS. With as bad as the bats are, I would rather play Cincinnati. That requires some losses by the NL West winner and wins by Cincinnati.
September 29th, 201010:21 pm
It would be nice to have a better record than SF and the pads on friday.
Brian…the Braves are where they are because the bullpen has been incredible all year. A true constant. Tim Hudson had a great come back year which was critical. Offensively it was Prado and Infante and some heroics now and again from Conrad/Hinske. Heyward has been as expected. In fact if you go back we actually said Heyward would hit about .270 with 20 HR and 80 RBI’s. Not certain but I think he is close to that. Unfortunately his free fall of late has probably cost him the ROY.
September 29th, 201010:22 pm
Hate that the game is on Fox Saturday. Local radio station will not carry Braves even though they are part of the Braves’ radio network. They normally do Ga Southern football on Saturdays. Then on Sunday, obligated to be at a family reunion! On the last day of the regular season! DVR will be on for Saturday tribute and for games on Saturday and Sunday!
September 29th, 201010:23 pm
sadly jason’s crappy sept. probably gives the ROY to posey.
Rays give away 20K tickets, 36,973 shows up and the Rays are shut out 2-0.
Maybe should have done that promotion last night Rays
September 29th, 201010:24 pm
don’t tell me kelly johnson hit another leadoff homer…………
September 29th, 201010:25 pm
Ankiel or McLouth on the roster? but definately not Lowe…
September 29th, 201010:26 pm
I’m pumped! This is WAY more exciting than ‘05 because it was so routine then. Now I know what it feels like and it sucks. It sucks to lose in the playoffs to begin with, but not even making the playoffs is a miserable feeling.
Not a given just yet, but I have a pretty good feeling.
“I feel like a school boy with his first crush all over again”.
“don’t tell me kelly johnson hit another leadoff homer…”
Nope, it was Stephen Drew. Johnson is batting third.
September 29th, 2010
1 or the other will win the west,it is just a matter of wich team…. If SF loses tonight they will bring the freak back on sunday…..If we have to face them in round 1 it only helps if he is used up.
September 29th, 201010:27 pm
Going to top of 2 in SD.Come on Cubs get on the board
Hopefully the sinker is working well for Wells,
3 groundouts in 1st
September 29th, 201010:28 pm
for tonight i say go arizona and go cubbies.
rooting against the Giants too.
Braves can actually clinch a tie for the wild card tomorrow. Would be nice to do that before the Philly series even starts.
September 29th, 201010:30 pm
TnBrian i totally agree with you. After not making the playoff for 5 years. And this year to make the playoff again it would feel More great. Then all this year when we won the east year after year.you grow to appreciate it making the playoff even as a wild card team
FEAR, we want the Giants to lose as well as the Padres…………….Giants are tougher than the Padres in every way, shape, or form, ideally you’d like to see the Padres win the West and the Braves the wild card…….But I just want to see the Braves make the playoff’s and don’t care who wins the west because the Braves can beat them, and since the Padres are the team behind the Braves in the wildcard you want them to lose more than you want the Giants to lose………
You get my reasoning, good because I don’t
September 29th, 201010:33 pm
I think if we face the Giants .I think we can beat them. Both teams have great starting pitchers .As far offenses it even. And i give the edge to the braves as far Bullpen goes
September 29th, 201010:38 pm
True, it is a three team race for the wild card. In fact if my calculations are correct it is possible for a three way tie. In that case SF would host SD for the division title and the loser of that game would play in Atlanta for the wild card entry. If SD wins tonight and tomorrow that could well be the case.
September 29th, 201010:39 pm
Tater, good quote. everybody in baseball loves and respects Bobby.
September 29th, 201010:40 pm
720 / 681
2.98 / 3.13 (2nd and 3rd place behind the Padres)
3.82 / 3.52
September 29th, 201010:41 pm
Is SD loses tonight and tomorrow then we could get swept by Philly and still make a play-in game for the wild card at home.
September 29th, 201010:42 pm
yes, we need both teams to lose !
September 29th, 201010:44 pm
*looking at the rest of the Playoff teams
