What is up with our rough pitching lately. I will be worried come play-off time (assuming we make it). The only pitcher I KNOW will give us a solid chance to win 99% of the time is Huddy.
-Tommy is still young and learning how to pitch in the bigs.
-JJ, I think, is just having a rough year, what with injuries and such. His year last year was too good to give up on him.
-Minor or Medlen are young and will have ups and downs
-Lowe is…well…Lowe. He is just no better than a number 4 or 5. Sometimes good…sometimes bad.

They would be getting the entire contract…there is $30 million left on it, right? Unless they know they will be able to trade him in the offseason, which seems unlikely…so the $5 million we would send would cover whatever is left this year and a fraction of next year. Cubs aren’t doing that.

Bad hop or not, JJ gave up a hit to one of the worst hitters in MLB. Then walked the next batter
Yet he did what he had to do to get out of it, thats what good pitchers do you know. If that dp is turned he gets out of it. One needs only to look at Jojo Reyes starts to see what bad pitchers do in that situation.

Sam Fossela, i expect pitchers to give up runs, but i don’t expect them to give up a lead 5 minutes after getting it, and to a series of below average to terrible hitters.

Jon Greenville: Damn, you’re absolutely right. Wow, I need to send a comment or something to that site to clarify, just in case Kolb gets wind of it. He wasn’t a bad dude at all. Didn’t have a closer mentality, but a good guy. Wickman, that’s who, as you said, got thrown under the bus by Andruw and others after they dumped him (Wickman).

i expect pitchers to give up runs, but i don’t expect them to give up a lead 5 minutes after getting it, and to a series of below average to terrible hitters.
Check out Roy Halladay’s start against the astros last week at home and see who he gave up some hits to.

Francouer is playing tonight because he kills the Braves. Otherwise his butt is on the bench as is usually the case. You just cannot blame JJ for a bad hop. If not for the bad hop, then maybe the Mets don’t score. In any case, he’s given up 2 runs, big freaking deal. Get over Colorado and focus on this game. (Though it’s funny how the same people whining about JJ make all kind of excuses whenever Hanson blows up)

McFann – did you catch what Simpson said about BMac after he went back to the dugout with his ankleburger? Mac started strapping on his right shinguard first “so Lovell couldn’t go over, lift his pantleg and find out what was going on.” We had to crack up ’cause that was just what I was saying!
Did you also hear Simpson saying that last night’s dirt in the face was in lieu of a shaving cream pie?
You just gotta love these guys, especially Mr. Indestructable behind the plate. I was looking forward to the collision between the old roomies though.

LOL …. Jim Powell just suggested that the Mets might think hard about not non-tendering Francoeur if they didn’t have some other bad contracts. No way. Francoeur is one of the most obvious non-tender candidates ever. The economics have shifted a bit and it would be pretty easy to replace him for far less than he would make through arbitration (which guarantees no less than a modest pay cut).

cabraves fan, what I was intending to say was send Lee and 5 mil per year to cubs for Byrd.
That would be Chi actually taking on 10 mil,
10 they receive from the Braves, 10 they drop from Byrd, as he is signed I believe for 2 more years at 5 per, so in real money Chicago would only be taking on 10 mil.

Byrd at 10
leaves 20, minus the braves 10 sent to Chi.
leaves 10 mil.
And If I were Wren which I’m not but I would do it in a flash and never look back.
