What is up with our rough pitching lately. I will be worried come play-off time (assuming we make it). The only pitcher I KNOW will give us a solid chance to win 99% of the time is Huddy.
-Tommy is still young and learning how to pitch in the bigs.
-JJ, I think, is just having a rough year, what with injuries and such. His year last year was too good to give up on him.
-Minor or Medlen are young and will have ups and downs
-Lowe is…well…Lowe. He is just no better than a number 4 or 5. Sometimes good…sometimes bad.
Way to take a pitch Melky, you dumbass.
They would be getting the entire contract…there is $30 million left on it, right? Unless they know they will be able to trade him in the offseason, which seems unlikely…so the $5 million we would send would cover whatever is left this year and a fraction of next year. Cubs aren’t doing that.

Bad hop or not, JJ gave up a hit to one of the worst hitters in MLB. Then walked the next batter
Yet he did what he had to do to get out of it, thats what good pitchers do you know. If that dp is turned he gets out of it. One needs only to look at Jojo Reyes starts to see what bad pitchers do in that situation.
McFann :Ô: :Ô:

Sam Fossela, i expect pitchers to give up runs, but i don’t expect them to give up a lead 5 minutes after getting it, and to a series of below average to terrible hitters.
well he can hit tonight at least
August 30th, 20107:57 pm
Jon Greenville: Damn, you’re absolutely right. Wow, I need to send a comment or something to that site to clarify, just in case Kolb gets wind of it. He wasn’t a bad dude at all. Didn’t have a closer mentality, but a good guy. Wickman, that’s who, as you said, got thrown under the bus by Andruw and others after they dumped him (Wickman).
no cab, 5 mil per from Atl to Cubs

I Miss Ted Turner (formerly I Love Derrek Lee)
The hit machine.

Check out Roy Halladay’s start against the astros last week at home and see who he gave up some hits to.
we can always count on omar, jason and prado…………..most of the time. haha
August 30th, 20107:59 pm
Jason! BOMB right here.
Francouer is playing tonight because he kills the Braves. Otherwise his butt is on the bench as is usually the case. You just cannot blame JJ for a bad hop. If not for the bad hop, then maybe the Mets don’t score. In any case, he’s given up 2 runs, big freaking deal. Get over Colorado and focus on this game. (Though it’s funny how the same people whining about JJ make all kind of excuses whenever Hanson blows up)
August 30th, 20108:00 pm
Sounded good. Looked even better.
Whoa. JoeBrave’s psychic.
Mr. Turnip-Green Jeans
After Hudson, I feel more confident with Minor taking the mound than JJ or Hanson.
Anybody else get the feeling that Minor knows more about HOW to pitch than either of them.
Joe Brave called it.
Called it Oh happy DAMN!
..and where are the H
So you think the Braves will pay $5 million each season? Don’t see that happening either (plus, I still don’t see the cubs taking on $10 million per year for DLowe) – not trying to be argumentative- just disagreeing with you
can ya keep this lead JJ?
Way to get the lead back J-Hey!!!!
That’s a huge, huge hit. Way to grab momentum right back. All because of JJ starting it off.
Now let’s keep the darn lead, big guy.
Josh from NY (not NYC)
August 30th, 20108:01 pm
…and where are the Heyward haters tonight?
JJ started that rally
I had just written on Twitter that the “resurgent Jason Heyward” was coming to bat with two on and two out, when he CRUSHED that pitch. Now that looked like the Heyward from early season.
JOEBRAVE!!!!! Good call……………oh and nice shot heyward!
now Prado single! Lee bomb!
Just a thought – how sweet would it be to watch Heyward get hot and carry the Braves in and through the playoffs?
J-Hey aka ROY
JJ helped himself w/ his AB… time and place to hit a three run bomb… thats one of them!
well maybe not

Loved Kris’s little dance there in the dugout!
Hope cabravesfan saw that…
McFann – did you catch what Simpson said about BMac after he went back to the dugout with his ankleburger? Mac started strapping on his right shinguard first “so Lovell couldn’t go over, lift his pantleg and find out what was going on.” We had to crack up ’cause that was just what I was saying!
Did you also hear Simpson saying that last night’s dirt in the face was in lieu of a shaving cream pie?
You just gotta love these guys, especially Mr. Indestructable behind the plate. I was looking forward to the collision between the old roomies though.
I was hoping we would see more of that this season back in April.
Where have you been all my life J-Hey?
Bring the Kid back.
August 30th, 20108:03 pm
Love the 2-out Magic!
OMG Meds is too freaking adorable!
Had to rewind so I could see it again! <3 <3 <3!!!
I wonder how Jeff Francoeur feels when he sees Jason Heyward being the homegrown future star RF for the Braves? Envy and jealousy are my guess.
I was almost sorry JJ got that hit. Not because I wasn’t pulling for him but because I thought we’d do better having Infante leading off the next inning than trying to get him home from 1st with 2 outs. Glad they showed me.
Meds is hilarious. cab, you missed it.
August 30th, 20108:04 pm
Shouldn’t McCann have been in the on-deck circle?
Ah, you did see it. Good stuff.
Had that feeling on Jason right there, Misch was dealin too much in Jason’s wheelhouse there.
got to start throwing strikes here CMON!
Nevermind….I was thinking he was cleanup and not DLee
August 30th, 20108:05 pm
he’s not even close to the zone here…
Now I usually hate ESPN announcers, but I have to give it to Dan Shulman, he is one of the better announcers in sports. He does a great job in basketball too; I didn’t even realize he did much baseball.
still not getting strikes…..cmon Jair whats going on!?
YES!!! I get the home feed today so I fortunately missed out on the joy of having to choose between the mets and ESPN feed
August 30th, 20108:06 pm
Damn, Jurrjens. He doesn’t look nearly as good this year.
Seriously. This is nuts. JJ was one of the top 4 or 5 pitchers in the NL last year … and until last week he had been really good since coming off the DL.
But he’s officially got me worried now.
Perhaps we will see KK replace JJ? Come on JJ get going.
“not getting strikes” is one thing… he wasnt even close on the first three pitches
August 30th, 20108:07 pm
good 0-2. finally…..
SIT DOWN DAVID!
Braves All the Way
that is the JJ we know
Yeah, I heard him say the thing about strapping on the shin-gaurd. BMac’s a toughy…he doesn’t want to be taken out because of some little ol’ foul ball.
Didn’t hear the thing about the dirt, though…that’s very int’resting…
I was looking forward to the collision between the old roomies though.
Ah…no thank you.
We rewound it, too! Hilarious…glad you got to see it!
JJ’s kind of sucking at the moment but good Lord does he own David Wright.
August 30th, 20108:08 pm
BMac’s batting fifth against the lefty tonight.
Sit Down Ike!
Kris Medlen a.k.a. James Brown
“I got Soul, I’m supper Bad”!!!
August 30th, 20108:09 pm
i guess all JJ needed was Brian to go and talk to him… now he’s on is game
JJ figures it out…….hahaha
August 30th, 20108:10 pm

Maybe I should have waited a few more minutes before jumping off the ledge. That was an impressive bounce-back from the lead-off walk.
Frenchy is a windmill.
and THATs that Frechy we know!
that is the Frenchy we know
Thats the Frency we know!
awesome comeback for JJ – that’s very encouraging…
BMac definitely got him straightened out somehow!
Wow! Wonder what Mac said to JJ.
McCann has a career as a motivational speaker after he retires from baseball.
Not worried about JJ…..at all.
August 30th, 20108:11 pm
Replace JJ with KK? Hah, he made you look real smart by striking out the side…
lol – 3 guys in a row say “that’s the Frenchy we know”…. it was so true that everyone thought it at the same time
LOL …. Jim Powell just suggested that the Mets might think hard about not non-tendering Francoeur if they didn’t have some other bad contracts. No way. Francoeur is one of the most obvious non-tender candidates ever. The economics have shifted a bit and it would be pretty easy to replace him for far less than he would make through arbitration (which guarantees no less than a modest pay cut).
August 30th, 20108:12 pm
cabraves fan, what I was intending to say was send Lee and 5 mil per year to cubs for Byrd.
That would be Chi actually taking on 10 mil,
10 they receive from the Braves, 10 they drop from Byrd, as he is signed I believe for 2 more years at 5 per, so in real money Chicago would only be taking on 10 mil.
Lowe at 30
Byrd at 10
leaves 20, minus the braves 10 sent to Chi.
leaves 10 mil.
And If I were Wren which I’m not but I would do it in a flash and never look back.
August 30th, 20108:13 pm
watched a replay of that J-Heys homerun…. that thing popped up off the bat like you rarely see on a homerun
D Lee seems to be heating up!
Love it! a hit is a hit…
MIBravesFan BMac definitely got him straightened out somehow!
Nice hit, Derrick!
