Dave just listened to that radio interview you gave and really enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed your description of the Braves clubhouse chemistry. I used to think that was overrated. After all winning teams have great chemistry because everyone is happy while winning. The early 90s teams where always complaining about playing time especially in the outfield and they still won. But your observation about seeing how the Braves genuinely want to help their teammates is a major reason the Braves are not just a wild card team but are fighting for the NL’s best record.
I also wanted to compliment you on the way you handled the Yunel questions. As Ron Burgundy would say you stay classy Dave O’Brien. It is a shame Yunel never learned that from you. He might still be a Brave. Way to elevate your profession in today’s world of gossip and unnamed sources (Werth and Utley’s wife).
Everyone should listen to it.

Here’s a special recipe I’m sure you’ll absolutely love.
1. Go to a carniceria & get some of the marinated carne asada
2. Place carne on hot Barbecue
3. Pour beer over top of carne as it begins to cook
Coach (2011 or Bust)
Let’s go kick some metroid ass tonight!
If a AL team offers us a pretty good prospect for Glaus Might have to think about it.
Derrek Lee got the Cubs 3 young pitchers. Lee is injury prone with back problems and having a bad season as well. Also will be a FA. Lee and Glaus are pretty comparable with Lee having the edge but not by much.
August 30th, 20106:45 pm
But I don’t think the In-N-Out will hot (or edible) by the time it reaches you.
Ha, cab has a chef so that recipe better be passed onto him.
August 30th, 20106:46 pm
My dad’s cousin’s husband is from Argentina…he makes the most amazing carne asada- not sure if he beer’s it though
August 30th, 20106:47 pm
That’s okay, Bobbeeee’s. cab’s springing for my airfare and accommodations to come out there next month. I’ll get to try it in-person.
Bay Area Steve
In-N-Out’s legit. Without question. But, a guy’s gotta draw the line at hours later out of a cardboard box. It’s a freakin’ fast-food burger. (And they need to cook the fries just a shade more.)
Not sure I would trust someone from the East Coast (by way of the south) with Carne Asada
August 30th, 20106:48 pm
Not paying for airfare… !!!

Really interesting take by DOB on the Yunel Trade around minute 36.
Yeah, I enjoyed that segment. Glad DOB didn’t throw the dude under the bus, either…he’s taken enough abuse. Didn’t like the trade, but I really can’t argue that it wasn’t necessary…sure seems so. Also, I really liked how the club took so much offense to his half-arse style of play. Tells me they take the game seriously and want it played the right way.
Coach–RC Cola and a Moon Pie?
Love RC Cola. Love it. Never had a Moon Pie. Is it strictly a regional thing? I’ve never seen one. Maybe I’m just not looking hard enough (or was never looking in the first place).
Gotta beer the carne cabraves, gotta beer it.
Beer as a verb. Awesome. I like to beer my New York’s a bit. And I like to whiskey my liver, a lot.
Don’t have In-and-Out Burger here, either. Crap. I could really go for a good burger. At least we have 5 Guys.
August 30th, 20106:51 pm
Heck, don’t beer the meat, beer me. It’s been a long day and it ain’t quittin…
August 30th, 20106:52 pm
I came up with a little recipe for some grilled Carne Asada steak for sandwiches.
What I do is grill it till it’s almost done and then I take a big stainless steel bowl and cover it to finish it off, but before I put the bowl over it to finish it, I sprinkle/spritz a decent ale or beer and close it right away. Cook it off for a few minutes till it’s done and after it’s done I put it on a plate and drizzle some of my favorite BBQ sauce on top and mix to coat it and then put it on the sandwich.
It’s pretty good. The ale/beer steam process at the end makes it so moist and juicy.
Wouldn’t it be sweet if Troy came up, worked into 3rd everyday with Omar in left, and went on a May like tear? I know, but wouldn’t it?
Steve from OH… Moon Pies are up here in Maryland and PA so probably out your way as well. My favorites though are OCPs (Oatmeal Creme Pies) Yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A couple of thoughts:
1. I think we can universally agree that the Braves struggles of the last few weeks were caused entirely by Hudson’s beard.
2. Can someone figure out why on Earth Martin Prado was so determined to dump dirt on McCann after the walk-off yesterday? He seriously did it like 5 times.
August 30th, 20106:53 pm
I do like OCP’s…gotta go foraging for this “Moon Pie” sometime soon…
I’ll bring Medlen if you pay for airfare
I was with ya Chris. I really was. And then I think I saw something about bbq sauce on a steak. That sir, is wrong.
August 30th, 20106:54 pm
Steve from Ohio-
Wow man big 180 from you regarding Yunel. You were not a happy camper for a long time.
August 30th, 20106:55 pm
Sold! I betcha she’ll pay for all of our airfare then.
August 30th, 20106:56 pm
If Jet Blue flew to Atlanta, they have an All You Can Jet pass going on right now. All you can fly for a whole month for $699, or $499 if you choose not to fly on Fri & Sat.
Awesome deal. Was thinking about it, but just joined my 3rd soccer team… Maybe next year. Would love to see Fenway, Wrigley, etc…
Yay, Peachtree game!
Bay Area Steve
There’s only one BBQ sauce I like I on my steak is a nice spicy chipotle BBQ sauce. I think of it as an alternative to A1 Steak Sauce (don’t get me wrong, I like it, but the spicy chipotle BBQ sauce can’t be beat).
Normally I don’t eat BBQ sauce with my steak, but cooking steak that way, the BBQ sauce is the only way to go for me.
August 30th, 20106:57 pm
Ever try a fried Moon Pie?
Why should’t “beer” be used as a verb? I like to beer chicken and then fry it every now and then, but I don’t usually beer my beef (and by “I” I mean “VJ” )
Meds is from here…he has to come back at some point (right? please? Meds? )

Frankie–I’m still not terribly pleased with it, but I’m coming more and more to understand the reasoning behind it. I would say I’m more sorry that it had to happen like that than sorry that it happened, if you know what I mean. If the man can’t play the Braves way, I guess he can’t be a Brave. Guess I’ll have to deal with it. But Gonzo has done a decent enough job with the stick and plays pretty good D. And we’re in a pennant race. My mind’s on other things.
But man, I sure do miss watching Yunel backhand one in the hole and show off that great throwing arm. That’s one thing Gonzo for sure don’t have.
August 30th, 20106:58 pm
I have connections: I post on DOB’s blog. I’ll see what I can do.
August 30th, 20106:59 pm
I like RC Cola and Moon Pies, but I rarely get them. So when I get them it’s like a treat.
Also a secret about me is that I am a foodie. I love to cook (and eat >_>) and along with baseball, those are my two favorite things/passions. I like to experiment in the kitchen and that’s how I came up with that steak recipe (I have an indoor grill).
Wow…that’s a lot of smiley faces. Sorry about that!
August 30th, 20107:00 pm
I love to eat, but unfortunately I’m domestically challenged. Cooking is difficult.
Good stuff, BAS
Hopefully Lowe doesn’t 151 the Marlins run column in his next outing.
Don’t worry >_>
I use a lot of smilies myself. I’m hooked on em. Thanks to AIM (aol instant messenger).
Moon Pie and Cheerwine. In my business I sell R C Cola, Cheerwine, Sun Drop, Nehi and over 100 other sodas, all in glass, using cane sugar not high fructose corn syrup. Much better tasting that way.
August 30th, 20107:01 pm
Try frying a Pie.
Y’all just made Largo leave the building. Y’all oughta be ashamed for making fun of his affection for a Johnson.
Brave4life-1995 all over again??
stadium seems to completely empty
Ok, gotta go. Peace.
Steve from OH
When I was younger I used to be in the kitchen when my Grandmother (no longer with us ) was in the kitchen and my passion just grew from there. She left me all of her cookbooks to which I still have today
August 30th, 20107:02 pm
Nehi Grape is fantastic.
August 30th, 20107:03 pm
nomar and arron boon calling the game on ESPN……that just seems odd
I still haven’t tried Cheerwine.
I wish In & Out Burger was here in FL. I feel sad and jealous of the west coast. If I ever travel to the west coast I will definitely stop there, but that’s a big IF as I rarely travel.
August 30th, 20107:04 pm
Pre game brought to us by Subway
Is making me really really hungry
Cheerwine is fantastic
August 30th, 20107:05 pm
The game is about to start but I was wondering about this comment…
“The Mets are 24-25 with a .234 team batting average and solid 3.56 ERA over their past 59 games”,
Does that not add up too 49 games… I went to a government school so maybe I got it wrong…

I have just recently discovered Smashburger. Check out their website, and it you are lucky enough to live near one, you gotta try it out.
I am OK with In-N-Out Burger, but prefer Five Guys locally. Smashburger is moving up on my list!
Video Difficulties on the Peachtree feed.
lolz to government school
August 30th, 20107:07 pm
I’ll check for Smashburger around where I live, I doubt it, but maybe I’ll get lucky and there’s one I haven’t heard about around here.
Can someone figure out why on Earth Martin Prado was so determined to dump dirt on McCann after the walk-off yesterday? He seriously did it like 5 times.
Yunel phoned him and told him to do it. That bastard, still causing trouble even from Toronto. In all seriousness it did look like Martin was trying his hardest to piss Mac off and bring him off his high of the walkoff. Just clubhouse hi-jinks I think. Good fun, at least for Martin.
Bartholomew (Bat) Masterson
Four games in a row on TV for me………….. It’s like old times
August 30th, 20107:08 pm
I haven’t tried Five Guys yet but need to… I see them all the time ’round here.
August 30th, 20107:09 pm
And that’s a big fat NO on Smashburger for here
I’ll tell you a good burger place, although I prefer its fries moreso than the burgers and that is Checkers.
NC State Nate
August 30th, 20107:12 pm
Wow… I’m amazed that Prado ranked 3rd among all NL players. You gotta think Carlos Gonzalez is close, yet when you look at his Coors numbers…
What an honor. Hopefully he keeps the same type of “blue-collar” mentality.
And I’m predicting the Braves pick up a game on the Phillies tonight.
Where are all the fans???? Geesh.
August 30th, 20107:13 pm
Get the ball lower Jurrjens
McFann :Ô: :Ô:
Baseball Question: I noticed that we picked up a third baseman named Christian Colonel about a week ago. He is from Pocatello, Idaho so I have to pull for him some. Older guy, who has knocked around the minors for the past 7 years. Anybody have any scoop on this guy?
August 30th, 20107:15 pm
I really like seeing Lee over at 1B vice Glaus….. I don’t hold my breath when the ball is thrown that way on a close play like I did before.
Good play JJ.
August 30th, 20107:16 pm
Another packed house at the TED.

August 30th, 20107:20 pm

I Miss Ted Turner (formerly I Love Derrek Lee)
