Dave just listened to that radio interview you gave and really enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed your description of the Braves clubhouse chemistry. I used to think that was overrated. After all winning teams have great chemistry because everyone is happy while winning. The early 90s teams where always complaining about playing time especially in the outfield and they still won. But your observation about seeing how the Braves genuinely want to help their teammates is a major reason the Braves are not just a wild card team but are fighting for the NL’s best record.

I also wanted to compliment you on the way you handled the Yunel questions. As Ron Burgundy would say you stay classy Dave O’Brien. It is a shame Yunel never learned that from you. He might still be a Brave. Way to elevate your profession in today’s world of gossip and unnamed sources (Werth and Utley’s wife).

Everyone should listen to it.

cab,

Here’s a special recipe I’m sure you’ll absolutely love.

1. Go to a carniceria & get some of the marinated carne asada

2. Place carne on hot Barbecue

3. Pour beer over top of carne as it begins to cook

If a AL team offers us a pretty good prospect for Glaus Might have to think about it.

Derrek Lee got the Cubs 3 young pitchers. Lee is injury prone with back problems and having a bad season as well. Also will be a FA. Lee and Glaus are pretty comparable with Lee having the edge but not by much.

Really interesting take by DOB on the Yunel Trade around minute 36.

Yeah, I enjoyed that segment. Glad DOB didn’t throw the dude under the bus, either…he’s taken enough abuse. Didn’t like the trade, but I really can’t argue that it wasn’t necessary…sure seems so. Also, I really liked how the club took so much offense to his half-arse style of play. Tells me they take the game seriously and want it played the right way.

Coach–RC Cola and a Moon Pie?

Love RC Cola. Love it. Never had a Moon Pie. Is it strictly a regional thing? I’ve never seen one. Maybe I’m just not looking hard enough (or was never looking in the first place).

I came up with a little recipe for some grilled Carne Asada steak for sandwiches.

What I do is grill it till it’s almost done and then I take a big stainless steel bowl and cover it to finish it off, but before I put the bowl over it to finish it, I sprinkle/spritz a decent ale or beer and close it right away. Cook it off for a few minutes till it’s done and after it’s done I put it on a plate and drizzle some of my favorite BBQ sauce on top and mix to coat it and then put it on the sandwich.

It’s pretty good. The ale/beer steam process at the end makes it so moist and juicy.

A couple of thoughts:

1. I think we can universally agree that the Braves struggles of the last few weeks were caused entirely by Hudson’s beard.

2. Can someone figure out why on Earth Martin Prado was so determined to dump dirt on McCann after the walk-off yesterday? He seriously did it like 5 times.

There’s only one BBQ sauce I like I on my steak is a nice spicy chipotle BBQ sauce. I think of it as an alternative to A1 Steak Sauce (don’t get me wrong, I like it, but the spicy chipotle BBQ sauce can’t be beat).

Normally I don’t eat BBQ sauce with my steak, but cooking steak that way, the BBQ sauce is the only way to go for me.

Frankie–I’m still not terribly pleased with it, but I’m coming more and more to understand the reasoning behind it. I would say I’m more sorry that it had to happen like that than sorry that it happened, if you know what I mean. If the man can’t play the Braves way, I guess he can’t be a Brave. Guess I’ll have to deal with it. But Gonzo has done a decent enough job with the stick and plays pretty good D. And we’re in a pennant race. My mind’s on other things.

But man, I sure do miss watching Yunel backhand one in the hole and show off that great throwing arm. That’s one thing Gonzo for sure don’t have.

Yunel phoned him and told him to do it. That bastard, still causing trouble even from Toronto. In all seriousness it did look like Martin was trying his hardest to piss Mac off and bring him off his high of the walkoff. Just clubhouse hi-jinks I think. Good fun, at least for Martin.
