At this point I almost hope Lowe is hurt so he has to go on the DL for an extended period. I hate taking that stance, but you have to admit that it gives the team the best chance to win.

And regarding Lowe, I hate to say this but it’s possible he’s got an elbow problem and doesn’t even realize it. Remember 2 years ago when Hudson was shocked that his ligament was torn, and they discovered it had been for some time. Could be a similar situation with Lowe.

We was wondering, does anyone else have the same problem with Mitchell on the blog like we have with him on Jeff’s blog? We think he is like a bad rash that could be cured with some Preparation H.

Lowe has got to pitch unless he is hurt. He has not looked good in his last few outings, maybe he’s hurt… not sure. But if he’s healthy, he got to take his turn.

He’s been very good in the post-season in his career by the way.

Lowe is just getting a few years on him(long in the tooth) and worn down. The heat is getting to him(that’s happens to old folks).
He will rebound with some adjustments and cooler temperatures, also Cox needs to stop pitching him in day games.
Unless something has pulled loose(that happens to old folks too), I think he will be good to go.
He’s a good kid.

Seriously, “fredi is next”, do you really think the best manager in MLB could only win 1 WS in 14 playoff attempts? Really?

Every time I read this poorly constructed argument I fear for the country, for the game, for the world. There are few levels of life quite as moronic as this. Unfortunately they too post regularly on the blog.

Of all the teams in baseball, Atlanta could use CC the most. He brings speed, defense, both of which the Braves have little of. He will go to one the big money teams. Living in the Tampa area is is a joy to watch the Rays play. Great defensive team at all infield and outfied positions. Pitchers and catchers are average at best.

True, but that was not going to happen. Wagner was signed once the Braves decided Soriano was not going to resign, then he surprises them and accepts arbitration.

Essentially, we did a Soriano/Gonzo swap for Wagner and Saito. I think we might have gotten the best of that deal overall.

The Braves weren’t going to have two high buck closers on the team.

Hanson, has had a few rough games, but I think the Braves are fortunate to have him(I think Carey said he was a 20 something round draft pick, if I’m not mistaken).
He gives the Braves a chance to win games when he pitches, even if he doesn’t get the W.

Totally apropos of nothings, with Manny Ramirez going to the ChiSox, any chance Andruw Jones would become available? Still strikes out a lot (about as often as Hinske) but would lead the team in homers and stolen bases in only 251 at-bats. Plus his OBP is about the same as Melky’s. Also, may be a good cautionary tale for J-Hey. Finally, I think he may have put his baby in me.
Discuss!

Lowe won’t say if his elbow’s hurting, but said he’s going to know more after his bullpen session Tuesday. Braves don’t think it’s anything serious, just soreness pitchers typically get during season.

Lew

Hanson has started 27 games this year. In 20 of them, he’s given up two or less Earned Runs. In another of them, he gave up three Earned Runs. Seven of those he’s given up two or less ER in, he’s been the losing pitcher.

Now that means he has a bad outing every 4.5 games (on average). Keep in mind he’s just turned 24 and finished his first full year in MLB. He could just as easily be 17-5 with any type of decent run support. If he were 17-5, none of you would be griping at all. Give it a rest.

Suppose Wren could put together a package of Glaus and a couple of tradable players (none of the top Minor League pitchers)for Jacoby Ellsbury. The man’s value is far beyond some would be prospect. The idea itself is just stupid to the point of idiocracy. I mean, Derek Lee has done nothing to date, Hinske is a back up and in spite of the hype surrounding Fredddie Freeman he has yet to see one single big league pitch.

Troy Glaus is going nowhere, period. End of story.
