DOB, concerning Moylan taking a cortisone shot, how is that not a PED? It is a prescription medication, injected into an athlete’s body, to help enhance his performance, is it not? If it isn’t, then why does he need to take it? This only masks an injury and doesn’t really heal it correct?
I’m not out to get Moylan because a lot of MLB players take these shots. I just don’t see how it doesn’t constitute as a PED. I’m sure there is a bunch I don’t know about these shots, so someone please help me out.

NMB, you can’t win the pennant every year, but BC had come pretty darn close.
The team last year? You make my point, it was a bad team with a lot of flaws, yet they still made a run. Last years team had 20 games out written all over it, but come stretch time, they made a run.
I saw every single pennant fron 91-05, and every year it was like this, night after night of the braves keeping a small lead, keeping the pressure on, and watching other teams collapse.

The Phillies are now 3 games back. They are lucky to be that close considering a gift victory by a 3rd base ump & 3 extra home games against Toronto gifted by MLB. They should be at least 5 out in my book, 4 at the very least.
The offense is coming around folks, I really believe that. There are too many guys swinging the bats well right now, most of them bunched in the order. If Lee gets hot or Glaus comes back on fire I think the Braves leave the Phillies in the dust.
How ironic would it be for the offense to lead the charge down the stretch to clinch the division while the starters are giving average production minus Huddy. Minor has been fantastic, but he’s still a rookie so he’s going to get rocked sooner or later, just hope it’s not tomorrow night.
The pen & bench gets reloaded on Sept 1st. It’s great to be a Braves fan!

Trey, Sure we would. I was just pointing out they are only three games down based on a blown call & them taking 2/3 at home against the Jays (a series scheduled in Toronto, but moved to Philly because of the G20 meetings).
I’m not counting improbable comebacks or losses. For once in a long time the # of games won they shouldn’t have greatly outnumbers the ones they lost, but should have won. I know there is no offical stat for that, but the Braves are well ahead in that catagory if there was one.

I read where Lowe may have arm/elbow soreness. Glavine called it Sunday. He said Lowe was shaking his arm too much. Joe or Chip (don’t recall which) mentioned he was just shaking off sweat. I have been very impressed with the insight of Glavine with the limited time he has been in the booth.

So we finally gained a game on the Phils, we’re 4.5 games up in the wild card (hopefully we win the division but we’ve seen the success wild cards have had and who really cares if we win the pennant?), Tim Hudson leads the league in ERA and all Omar Infante does is hit. Not to mention the fact that Heyward looks resurgent, as DOB has mentioned, and BMac has homered in two straight games. Today is a good day.

Maybe it is becuase I don’t get to see them on TV that much, but last night just felt like a great atmosphere. They looked great on national TV. I would love that kind of energy in the playoffs.
Chipper, Glavine, Maddux and all those guys were obviously awesome, but this team seems to have a different level of enthusiasm. I hope they make it and stick around for a while.

Noone has brought up the fact that Heyward can’t seem to get 5 hits in a game. Not sure what is wrong with him, maybe he is injured. These 2 or 3 hits per game is not going to get the job done. The Braves should probably replace him in the lineup with Diaz or Melky.

I keep hearing so much about Triple Crown chances this year, but last night was the first time outside of the chatter on this site that I heard someone address Omar might sweep in and take the title. The annoucers talked about his at bats, but Dan Schulman (sp?) took it the step further and explained the rule about taking 0-fers to qualify. I can’t tell you how many times ESPN SportsCenter has missed it.
I hope it happens. Votto or Albert look like they have it in the final week and nobody sees Omar sitting 20 points ahead of them because he’s not in the paper for too few at-bats.
