I know this is a late comment, but I’ve been working while watching the game. But that run from 1st from Heyward on a single is exactly why everyone who sees him comes away flabberghasted at not his talent, which is prodigous and obvious, but his baseball IQ, which is preternatural and beyond his years. In business and in life, you come across folks who just “get it.” J-Hey is obviously that kind of individual and why he is going to be an asset to our team for hopefully 15-20 years. My 5 year old is obsessed with him and I love teaching him why Jason is such a great example of how to play the game. From DOB’s latest bloggage, it sounds as if Freddie Freeman is a carbon copy. Our future is bright, folks!

Farnsworth last had a 1-2-3 inning on Aug 14th against the Dodgers. He K’d Blake, Kemp, then Carroll flied out.
That was 5 outings ago before tonight.

Feeanch, J-Hey brings something that we haven’t seen in a while (Hinske is one also) and that is non-bobbyness. He brings hustle, grit, determination, and the willingness to take a shot and not play conservative.

cabravesfan one of my favorite clips (still) is the one from a few years back when Smoltzie was mic’d up and he was making fun of Mac and Mac got all annoyed and walked away…Smoltzie was left begging him to come back
That was hilarious!
I bought that game off iTunes.

The defensive stats like UTZ and the like are like quality start stats.
I agree with the esteemed Don Sutton on that one. Basically giving up 3 runs in only 6 innings work ain’t no real quality start. Just another manufactured stat to give the stat nerds more input into the workings and selling of the MLB product.

At least during this recent teo week strecth of Braves baseball the braves have not had to use Wagner. So he Should be well rested. By the way, does anybody know the last time wagner pitched. Was it Friday in Chicago?

Probably nothing to get TOO excited about, but Farnsworth looked really good that inning.
Of course its a 9-3 game. So that helps.
But hitting 97 on the gun is a very nice sight. Or is it? I mean, with that outing, Bobby might feel more comfortable in bringing him in in a tight game later this week.

For everyone who complains about the Lowe or KK contracts just remember it could always be worse. Oliver Perez must show up in a ski mask with a gun to get paid. 12 mil a year for 3-4 6.82 ERA in 09 and 0-4 6.70 ERA this year. He also still has a year left.

Was just thinking about a potential 2012 rotation when I saw Medlin on the bench…..Hudson, Hanson, JJ, Medlin and Minor…..and that doesnt take into account some of the other Kids coming up ( and also assumes by then they can flush Lowe’s contract…..but that could be one hell of a strong rotation

Evening all. Looking back, I see we have and idiot of the night proclaiming that Jason Heyward is a poor defensive outfielder because he misjudged where the wall was on the fly ball. He admittedly should have caught that ball, but every defensive metric shows that he is well above average defensively.
What a tool.

Yeah. What the heck is this? I’m not a huge fan of this. Only because it’s Billy Wagner. He knows what the F he’s doing. If he needs some extra work, he can get it on the side. No need to pitch in a game like this … just to stay sharp.

There’s a good chance the next three games are going to be close …. this is the Braves after all. I’d hate for Wagner not be available on Wed. or Thurs. because he pitched in a 9-3 game on Monday.
Again. He’s a vet. He knows what it takes to stay sharp and not get rusty.

Why are these idiot broadcasters concerned about our attendence? Before school started back, we had some of the biggest crowds on weekdays I can ever recall seeing at the Ted. The Mets broadcasters should be more worried about how they’ll be occupying their time over the next decade while the Mutts don’t compete.
