Dang it…..come on braves! I feel a big comeback later in the game.
sha-BAM! Now who’s the smarterest??
Hate to break it to you jeffrey but smarterest isn’t even a real word.
Just please release the losers (melky, ankles, diaz, hinske). We can get the same production for minor leaguers.
Brave4life-1995 all over again??
Hopefully Strasburg can throw a gem

Thanks offense for not prolonging the day. Quick three down gets the pain over.
Trey - 10
I Love Liberty Media. Hm, trying to insult me, eh.
Says the one who just said that calling people names is immature, yet has the moniker that says I hate Troy Glaus.
We were due a loss like this! Poor defense and spotty offense, the great pitching has been wonderful, but Lowe, Hudson, Jurrjens, and now Hanson have struggled in their last start Unfortunately, there is so little room for error in making the playoffs this year. In past years. our record at this point would be enough to almost be a sure bet for the wildcard, but the defense and the offense are going to have to have a major surge to keep us in contention!
Had Diaz hustled that all the way, he would have been safe.
This can’t be true. Diaz always hustles. Besides, we got rid of the only guy that didn’t hustle/pouts/pops up/makes errors at critical points in the game/etc….
Apparently I am a child because I said “boo frickin hoo”……
This guy pitching for the Cubs is exceptional!
August 21st, 20105:25 pm
Wow- Now Nick is releasing our entire outfield (minus Heyward, but hey, it’s only the 4th inning…)
ccrider…they haven’t lost yet.
Sorry, your name is so dang long it is hard to get it perfect, I Love Derrek Lee.
Soph – that’s impossible because everyone’d have to be in on it.
Mitchell – Booby blows another one.
Robert – HEE HAW!! Bobby forgot to teach everybody how to hit
jeffrey d – Soph! We just hit our second grand slam!! We won!!!!
Nick – This ballgame was over 6 innings ago. The team can’t hit, field, pitch, or eat.
August 21st, 20105:26 pm
Oh I Love Derrek Lee, I joke with Nick and Mitchell and pretty much everyone else on the blog.
Bartholomew (Bat) Masterson
Next time I go fishing I’m taking Nick.
Braves might want to think about a comeback in this game, since they face Randy Wells tomorrow and haven’t done much against him in past. Wells is 2-0 with a 1.43 ERA in three starts against the Braves, including six scoreless innings in an April 8 win in Atlanta
I Love Derrek Lee (formerly I Hate Liberty Media/I Hate Troy Glaus)
“Says the one who just said that calling people names is immature, yet has the moniker that says I hate Troy Glaus”
How original. Think for yourself much, “bud”?
Gorzelanny made every efot to walk Ankiel there and clear the pitcher’ spot. Alas, Ankiel’s Frenchy-ness proved too much to overcome. He can play some D though…
“I’ve lost count as to how many times you’ve called Nick, Mitchell, and the various Phillies’ fans “idiot” and other names.”
Yeah, but calling Nick and idiot is hardly stretching the limits of reality. Calling Nick and idiot is about equal to calling DOB a beat-writer. Sometimes the truth is hard to ignore.
One who sticks up for Nick = douche.
Big Tom Callahan
Ah, Nick, how predictable. He’s already called “Ballgame!,” as well as coin these Braves pathetic. He’ll ramble on, predicting the Braves demise. Just another day on a once great blog gone terribly wrong. Thank God Mitchell opted to turn away for a bit. He’ll be back in a while, though, obsessing over how one game will cost the Braves their season. Now all we need is the return of Don to suck off the Phillies and hand them the division.
DOB, I don’t envy you having to deal with these idiots.
bravesgrl4lifeeeee ♥ Heap Prado JHey Venters Wagner Huddy Hanson ♥
Gorzy is one strange lookin’ dude.
Katherine, no it was because you posted a comment that was typed like a 13 or 14 year old.
Caution….these comments are produced @ a factory that manufactures tree nuts

I just read your back and forth with Trey about Favre. I remember a SciFi story about euthanizing people over 40. I have a feeling that Trey would be in favor of of such a policy.
Alright…looks like we’ve got our obligatory “Cy’s pitching another scorcher against the Braves today ” out of the way
Tom Gorzellany gets my Cy Young vote
N8, and you know that when I talk like that I am rarely serious.
Hudson and Jurrjens did not struggle in their last starts. We have to get out of the mentality that giving up 2-3 runs=struggling. It only feels like they were struggling because the offense really only functions after the 7th inning.
Even Gorzo (sloth) crushing the ball of Hanson.
Give it up, Katy, my heart (and heinie) belongs to Mr Hat!
August 21st, 20105:28 pm
Don’t worry, cabravesfan. Heyward is next on Nick’s chopping block. It’s only a matter of time.
Seriously, is something wrong with Tommy? Doesn’t have anything extra today…not breaking 90.
Does anybody know how the NL East faces in the division round this year?
Thanks for your opinion Trey…..I guess when trying to be sarcastic on this blog you have to take into account people that have a stick up their arse.
*who, not how

DiamondbackMac says,”I just read your back and forth with Trey about Favre. I remember a SciFi story about euthanizing people over 40. I have a feeling that Trey would be in favor of of such a policy.”
Well Mac, you obviously do not know much if you think that. You know nothing about me, nor do you know anything about what I believe.
“Oh I Love Derrek Lee, I joke with Nick and Mitchell and pretty much everyone else on the blog.”
If that’s true, then it’s lost over the internet. That’s the difference between personal communication and electronic communication. If you’re sincere, then I guess I took your words out of context.
This blog has to be your life. You can’t have other obligations, considering you spend countless hours here. Wait, you’re a 12-year-old glue sniffer, who lives in your mother’s basement? My bad. Carry on.
August 21st, 20105:30 pm
We are due a crappy game that we lose instead of coming back late to win, but it’s still very early and we may yet remain due.
Katherine, not really.
I got no beef against Nick. All he does is intentionally tries to get people riled up. And keeps doing it because he succeeds every time, even with the most out there comment.
Guess that makes me a douche
Walkin ‘em ain’t helping Tommy…
August 21st, 20105:31 pm
I Love Derrek Lee, apparently. Now with the Phillies troll I am serious.
Hanson looks like @ss today. Embarrassing.
another walk, 2 of them scored last inning
The A Bomb
Not watching the game due to the Soviet invasion of TV but Jim Powell is consistently using LINED and DRIVEN to describe every at-bat….except for the walks, of course.
Guy needs to learn how to pitch on the road more consistently. Not every mound will be the same.
Even if the braves do lose, and even if they lose first place….I still wouldnt count them out. I think it will be very exciting right down to the end.
why is T. Hansen still in this game? It’s not like the bullpen is over used of late.
if you want a chance to win this game, you can’t give up any more runs.
In most cases, anyway.
August 21st, 20105:32 pm
Hopefully, Derek Lee gets a chance to do some damage in the next inning – and finally capitalizes!
I don’t understand why Hanson is still in the game though….he obviously doesn’t have it today.
I guess when trying to be sarcastic on this blog you have to take into account people that have a stick up their arse
A stick? Some people have a whole tree up there
Sarcasm definitely flies over certain people’s heads on here.
“Hanson looks like @ss today. Embarrassing.”
It could be more embarrassing. Somebody could have said he looks like Nick.
August 21st, 20105:33 pm
Wonder who started the stock blog insults such as “living in your mother’s basement”? Gotta be a passed ball there…
A whole tree up there.
jeffrey, ohhhh I know.
Honest question: What is Tommy’s put-away pitch? He had been dominant before today, chiefly due to trusting his fastball when he gets into trouble. Not the case today. He’s constantly throwing off-speed. I don’t get it.
Paging a proctologist!
August 21st, 20105:34 pm
My bad, automatically a SB since he was running…
It just goes as a stolen base because the runner was going on the pitch
MIBraveeeeeeeeeeesFan, nooooo not yet, just give me a few more minutes.
The late inning rallys are nice now, but those wont’ work in the playoffs against teams like STL or even the Yanks, if we get that far. Offense has gotta turn it on.
August 21st, 20105:35 pm
“Guy needs to learn how to pitch on the road more consistently. Not every mound will be the same.” The A-Bomb
Not a very researched point. Here are Hanson’s home/road ERA’s before today’s game.
2010 Home ERA: 3.70
2010 Road ERA: 3.00
Sopheeee, I just decided to start taking mostly everything as sarcasm.
Cubs don’t score! Yeah!
August 21st, 20105:36 pm
Hopefully Wren is searching the waiver wire for an actual legit hitter.
Ok…they will score at least 1 run this inning I call it lol
DOB, you just laid the DOB Whammy on Wells for tomorrow’s game. The Braves are going to pound him now.
Hanson better not be hitting to start the 5th…
August 21st, 20105:37 pm
Hanson was still in the game partly b/c he’s due up first in the 5th.
Now, Bobby can pinch-hit for him and perhaps get 2 innings out of his next reliever.
I Love Derrek Lee, I am one that is rarely serious though. Some others may be, but I am rarley, unless I have to be serious.
and as I hit “submit”, I hear that Tommy is batting for himself.
August 21st, 20105:38 pm
apparently he is pitching in the 5th
Ummmm…..why is Hanson batting?
Now, consider this.
Maybe the Braves come back and take a lead by the 6th.
Tommy “steals” a win after going winless in his last five great starts.
Would be sweet justice.
Trey – 10

Paging a proctologist!
Sorry, couldn’t help but think maybe a little obvious (or too obvious) humor was called for
It’s ok uk…..good thought
lol Tommy didn’t even know where he hit it
August 21st, 20105:39 pm
I’ll take a C for effort.
MIBravesFan, of course. It is always called for.
Nick, do you actually think there is a “legit” hitter, as you call it, that would be available that wouldn’t cost us a player we don’t want to lose?
Come on braves!
“Ummmm…..why is Hanson batting?”
The pitchers hit in the NL.
I just don’;t get how NL pitchers can be so bad at hitting
“I Love Derrek Lee, apparently. Now with the Phillies troll I am serious.”
O.K. I’ve read some of their (Phillies’ fans) posts, and some of them have certainly been out of line. I believe that most of the people here are Braves’ fans. We don’t all see things the same way, but that’s what I like about interacting with others here. I actually learn a lot about the team (past, present, and future) by reading the contributions of others who follow the day-to-day operations of the organization more closely than I do. To me the difference of viewpoints and opinions here is what appeals to me. I don’t agree with every opinion of Nick, Mitchell, or anyone else; and I don’t expect everyone to agree with all of my opinions. A page worth of “go to hell, Nick” posts is as annoying to me as a page worth of “ballgame” posts in the third inning is to others.
August 21st, 20105:40 pm
Good bunt, Omar.
“To a man” Hanson is bad today.
You got to be kidding me!!!!!!!
Come Bobby, you F’ing idiot.
You are down 5-0!
Tim McCarver is talking about it now… “How many managers (in this situation) would allow the starting pitcher to hit…”
Answer- ONE MORONIC MANAGER. Bobby freakin Cox.
Dave, I wouldnt mind if both Bobby and Billy came back for one more year, but, they both have the right to leave if they want to.
I really hope that whoever the manager is next year, makes Johnny Venters the closer. The guy has just been lights out this year, and would seem like the logical candidate to replace Billy Wagner.
August 21st, 20105:41 pm
cab – I would have preferred LaRoche to Lee.
The cubs pitcher needs some serious dental work.
Yeah, Tim McCarver….that’s who you want to quote when trying to defend your point
Nick, clearly either LaRoche wasn’t available or his price was too high…
August 21st, 20105:42 pm
I think we can still win this ballgame. After all, we are playing the Cubs.
Miss me? Had to go spank the old monkey. It is so small took me a while to find it. The Braves and Hanson, suck. Hard to believe that Cox is still the manager.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
