We were due a loss like this! Poor defense and spotty offense, the great pitching has been wonderful, but Lowe, Hudson, Jurrjens, and now Hanson have struggled in their last start Unfortunately, there is so little room for error in making the playoffs this year. In past years. our record at this point would be enough to almost be a sure bet for the wildcard, but the defense and the offense are going to have to have a major surge to keep us in contention!

This can’t be true. Diaz always hustles. Besides, we got rid of the only guy that didn’t hustle/pouts/pops up/makes errors at critical points in the game/etc….

Braves might want to think about a comeback in this game, since they face Randy Wells tomorrow and haven’t done much against him in past. Wells is 2-0 with a 1.43 ERA in three starts against the Braves, including six scoreless innings in an April 8 win in Atlanta

Ah, Nick, how predictable. He’s already called “Ballgame!,” as well as coin these Braves pathetic. He’ll ramble on, predicting the Braves demise. Just another day on a once great blog gone terribly wrong. Thank God Mitchell opted to turn away for a bit. He’ll be back in a while, though, obsessing over how one game will cost the Braves their season. Now all we need is the return of Don to suck off the Phillies and hand them the division.

Hudson and Jurrjens did not struggle in their last starts. We have to get out of the mentality that giving up 2-3 runs=struggling. It only feels like they were struggling because the offense really only functions after the 7th inning.

Not watching the game due to the Soviet invasion of TV but Jim Powell is consistently using LINED and DRIVEN to describe every at-bat….except for the walks, of course.
Guy needs to learn how to pitch on the road more consistently. Not every mound will be the same.

Honest question: What is Tommy’s put-away pitch? He had been dominant before today, chiefly due to trusting his fastball when he gets into trouble. Not the case today. He’s constantly throwing off-speed. I don’t get it.

O.K. I’ve read some of their (Phillies’ fans) posts, and some of them have certainly been out of line. I believe that most of the people here are Braves’ fans. We don’t all see things the same way, but that’s what I like about interacting with others here. I actually learn a lot about the team (past, present, and future) by reading the contributions of others who follow the day-to-day operations of the organization more closely than I do. To me the difference of viewpoints and opinions here is what appeals to me. I don’t agree with every opinion of Nick, Mitchell, or anyone else; and I don’t expect everyone to agree with all of my opinions. A page worth of “go to hell, Nick” posts is as annoying to me as a page worth of “ballgame” posts in the third inning is to others.

Dave, I wouldnt mind if both Bobby and Billy came back for one more year, but, they both have the right to leave if they want to.
I really hope that whoever the manager is next year, makes Johnny Venters the closer. The guy has just been lights out this year, and would seem like the logical candidate to replace Billy Wagner.
