DOB – we are jealous – of the great job you do. Ignore the idiots. Life is too short to feel bad about what someone with lesss talent and ability might say about you.
If anyone believes that Glaus will play ahead of Infante, then I have a bridge to seel them. Infante has sparked the Braves all year, and, btw, is hitting over .340. I thought it was real class that Bobby told he and Prado to decide among themselves who was to play 3d and who was to play 2d. Typical Bobby, treating major leaguers like major leaguers. Look how well that notion worked last night.

Here’s a fun little nugget. The Braves franchise is 8 game under .500 all time. 9924-9932. I say we get to .500 sometime early Sept in Fla.
Trivia Question: Can anyone tell me the last time the Braves Franchise was at .500 or better. Current record is 9924-9932.

It said he will be working at 1st and 3rd. He is not going to come back and be the everyday 3rd baseman. Maybe an occasional fill in. If he plays 15 games at 3rd base I will eat this laptop.

I was for bringing up Freeman for playoffs, but I am likeing this trade. Troy Glaus is a class guy, he has been playing hurt for a long time and he has always given to his best effort.

Glauss will not be a regular at 3rd. Him going to AAA to get rest and work at 3rd is simply for depth purposes. No way can his knees take 3rd base if they are beat up playing at 1st. As FW said, its simply to get him some rest, and playing 3rd will strictly an insurance policy in case we need him there. Come Sept.1 Troy will bring another interchangeable part off of Bobby’s bench and hopefully with some time off his knees will get a little bit better and he can play a big role off the Bravos bench. Good work Frank and lots of class shown by a guy (Troy) who is obviously a great team player!!! Hope to see you healthy and ready to contribute down the stretch TG!!

Like him or not….Wren has not been the type to sit back on his hands. I’m REALLY excited to see Lee for the stretch run. Love the idea of Glaus/Hinkse/Conrad being the power guys off the bench (after Glaus hits the DL to rest his knees)….and for them to be potential DHs in the world series.

Hadn’t thought about that, but yes sir, it does seem like a positive to have Jason Heyward in the same locker room as Derrek Lee. For all the nonsense that somebody like Gary Sheffield espoused, he made some good points about life for black ballplayers in MLB. Lee’s an example of how to handle whatever those issues might be, as opposed to Sheff.

With the errors/ mental errors Glaus has shown the last few weeks, it’s no surprise the Braves traded for a 1st baseman. And Glaus is a team player going back to the minors and trying to play third. If it doesn’t work out it’s not a big deal, cause we have Omar and Prado with Glaus on the bench or vice versa.

Love these numbers from DOB’s 5:35 post – Lee is batting .313 with six home runs and 20 RBIs in 24 games since the All-Star break, including .306 with four homers and eight RBIs in 10 games in August. He had four homers in a three-game weekend series at St. Louis, August 13-15.
This looks like a great trade for the Braves. I’ve never heard of those 3 pitchers they gave up (not to say they won’t turn out to be good, but none of them were among the top tier prospects.)

One Phillies blogger says the Brave’s top prospect Freddie Freeman must be putting up Bad numbers in AAA because they went out and got Lee. If he don’t know, He better ask somebody !!!

I really don’t expect to see Glaus much at third base this season, unless it is for an inning or two. Also, I think if he gets his wheels refurbed for the WS, he would be a good righty DH.

I certainly wouldn’t want Glaus to start at third. Having the option to plug him in at third during late inning lineup shuffling wouldn’t be so bad though.

Funny thing is a braves blogger said the same thing earlier today. He said that this meant Wren didnt have a high opinion of Freeman and that we might never see him again in a Braves uni. A philly blogger is allowed a little more leeway after that.

Oh and also, I talked to Addison’s Granddad at work today and he said that Addison said that the hit by pitch from Lance McCullers Jr. HURT BIG TIME. He said when he gets hit by pitch normally it doesn’t hurt, but he said that one HURT. Said that it left a welt/bruise on his back.
