Happy Birthday, Melkito: .299/.368/.478 last 25 games since ASB, including 76 PA. That’s my boy.
Ankiel can run but can’t hit. So just pinch run him. Can we get a 1B & CF ? What kind of GM keeps a .290 hitter with power in Gwinnett while Glaus hits .161 with 1 homerun ?
Wandy Rodriguez really helped himself in this inning. He walked a guy into scoring position. Whenever that happens with two outs, you deserve any bad thing that comes your way.
August 11th, 20103:25 pm
BTW Im the original Headley Lamar. Other guy isnt even spelling it right.
About the 4th or 5th time someone has stolen my name
Sophee – I don’t know Soph, he always looks really pale and weak to me.
Brian from SC
August 11th, 20103:26 pm
Jeff321…your comment has been reported. We all hope you’re banned.
Snot – ha, I have no proof so it’s just a suspicion but just watch them next time.
DOB handles it by letting Carroll run the blog for weeks at the time…
Infante is starting to hit that wall part time players hit when asked to play everyday
Hey Hedley (Heddy??), yeah, that pitch-by-pitch stuff only makes sense in October, when every AB has a heightened significance. These guys think this is the NFL.
August 11th, 20103:27 pm
Actually, Headley, no one is stealing your name. And if you had actually seen the movie, you’d know the way you’re spelling the name is incorrect. But, sure, claim someone’s stealing your username. I’ve used ever since I joined this blog two years ago.
What kind of GM keeps a .290 hitter with power in Gwinnett while Glaus hits .161 with 1 homerun ?
A first place one.
Headley Lamar – I’m about sick of your drivel son. Temper that crap whydoncha!
Nice Hanson! Doing everything.
Not a Hall of Fame w/out Dale Murphy
August 11th, 20103:28 pm
Robdawg 400 Hrs is not a requirement. Ask Al Kaline (399), Jim Rice (382) or Ralph Kiner (369). Maybe he just needed another child in the hospital to inspire him to hit those two homers. Look what he did for Elizabeth Smith. It is true stories like that which demands his induction into the hall.
–It is sad to see this happen in Cox’s last year
–You know what’s not sad? THE BRAVES ARE IN FIRST PLACE!!!
You know what makes me sad? YOU DO!!! Maybe we can just chug on over to namby pamby land so you can find some self-confidence, ya JACK WAGON!
Not a Hall, that was exactly what I thought. I doubt any contending teams are looking for him to fill a starting role, and why would a non-contender trade anyone for him when they should be able to sign him in the offseason? I seriously doubt there’s going to be a big bidding war among teams who want him as a starting OF.
So F’ed gets ya banned ? You would need uck to in there too to get banned…
man everyone is in one bitchy mood today
Nice play, new guy.
But, sure, claim someone’s stealing your username. I’ve used ever since I joined this blog two years ago.
your right. I am spelling it wrong. but I just starting using the name a couple weeks ago and Ive been reading this blog for years and have never seen you.
Im keeping it. Like I said about the 5th time this has happened.
August 11th, 20103:29 pm
Let’s pretend Gonzo just prevented a couple of runs.
McFann :Ô: :Ô:
GREAT PLAY, New Guy!
NC State Nate
That a baby. He needed that. Like a gapper when you’re in a slump.
The Astros haven’t even hit a homer in this series. How can you play in this park and not hit a homer in three games?
Brave4life-1995 all over again??
its funny he makes some amazing plays when no one is on base, but when its a tight situation he chokes………..nonetheless nice play
August 11th, 20103:30 pm
robdawg, that’s not my call. I just reported the comment because it was a vulgar attack directed at me. Anything else is in the webmaster’s hands.
man everyone is in one bitchy mood today
When are they not. This whole blog is one big bitchfest for idiots. A little baseball is discussed occasionally.
That was lot better than what I had Headley… I had a dumazz…
commercial is friggin hilarious
Bartholomew (Bat) Masterson
August 11th, 20103:31 pm
You guys are all vastly underestimating Jeff321’s comedic value.
Headley, I could really care less. Like you said, you started using the username a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been here for years. Do I care that you claim you haven’t seen me? No. Continue to use it and spell it incorrectly, because I’m not going to argue over such a ridiculous topic on a sports blog. We’re not in middle school.
Chop Chop, one way you can do that is to have a team that doesn’t have any good power hitters. That would describe the Astros. Also, the Braves don’t tend to give up many homers. I think they have given up the 2nd fewest in the league if memory serves.

August 11th, 20103:32 pm
Sweet catch at SS!!!
GM, that is…
Tune in to ESPN2 on breaks. They’re televising the LL SE regionals about a mile from my house. We’re the new home for the SE regionals partly due to our exceptional history and development of the younguns….boy & girls. HOT day here in Gawd’s country!
I Hate Troy Glaus (formerly I Hate Liberty Media)
If Murph ever gets the call to the hall, I’ll be there.
August 11th, 20103:33 pm
We can’t lose to a dude named “Wandy.”
August 11th, 20103:34 pm
McFann, you can still say that! I said it, because I know that is your thing.
Brian from SC, have you read the TOS?
Did you happen to miss this part?
“Stalking” or otherwise harassing another;
That’s right up your alley, dude.
I’m looking on my espn gamecast, and this is what I see:
2. M. Cabrera
3. A. Gonzalez
4. M. Diaz
It’s like a heart of the order from the twilight zone. This is unless it was Miguel Cabrera and Adrian Gonzalez.
I’ve been here for years.
I havent seen you. And I read this blog everyday.
August 11th, 20103:35 pm
Tom Glavine wrote a book in ‘96 after the Braves won the title where he specifically mentioned that that WS crown was won for a lot of people, the city of Atlanta, etc., but also Murph, b/c he never had the chance to do it and Murph was a tremendous influence on the youngins like Glavine and Smoltz in 1988/89/90.
Happy Birthday, Melky.
doesn’t look like any of those strikes were actual strikes ….
August 11th, 20103:36 pm
They might have this game done by the time I get home.
August 11th, 20103:37 pm
Sea Bass goes yahd here.
With this lineup, we better hold them to the 1 run.
ok maybe not.
Damn we really need to pick up offensively
August 11th, 20103:38 pm
Why are umpires always so fat ?
guess the “non strikes” doesn’t matter now, would have been erased on the double play
Diaz winds up with a double.
Can Glaus come through???
August 11th, 20103:39 pm
Like I said, whether you’ve seen me or not, I really don’t care. It makes absolutely no difference to me. I’m here every day. This isn’t complicated. Enough.
That throw from RF looked like a girly throw…
Chipper’s mom & dad were here at the game Tuesday.
“I texted my mom [immediately after the injury] because I knew she’d be bawling,” he said.
For a mercurial defense…Bobby must cite the offenders–at least internally, and I doubt it’s a point of emphasis….until I hear otherwise…this what I feel
lets go troy
nice swing, just came up short
August 11th, 20103:40 pm
Oh, I know! I was just messin’ with ya…then I forgot to say it.
So…Thanks for the new Blog, Chief!
Nice swing by Glaus. Maybe he thinks its May again ?
Stupid 435′ CF.
Agreed. We will just both use it.
jeffrey, yes I am also McFann and Innocent Bystander.
its a good thing centerfield wall is 3/4 of a mile away b/c that ball was hit well by Troy
August 11th, 20103:41 pm
I hate Bourn. He’s like a mosquito…Got to keep him off base
I find it mildly humorous that there are two people named Headly Lamar here that are fighting with each other.
When maddux’s number was retired, they Mentioned that everyone whose Braves’ number had been retired was in the HOF … Except Dale Murphy (and of course Maddux and now Glavine).
Troy actually starting to square some balls up.
Might be a good sign.
I occasionally find myself rooting against Melky Cabrera…solely for the purpose of avoiding further exposure to the inevitable “Melkman Delivers” posts that ensue in mass quantities. <—Almost as plentiful as the "Brave New World" headlines used every spring.
McFann, I was messing with you too, that is why I said that! I saw that you hadn’t, so I was like I am going to say it to see her reaction.
I wish we’d play every afternoon………work is sweet when the game is on.
$200 per diem?
Comp meals galore
“imposing figure” upkeep
All these injuries to Chipper can’t help but bring up the “S” word. Sorry.
August 11th, 20103:42 pm
I hate Bourne
Is that so, Trey? Nobody alerted me that I’m merely Brad Pitt to your Edward Norton…
Brian from SC,
I knew why. It was more of a rhetorical question.
I was just scrolling down the page and wondered why Hedley added the “a” to his name – now I understand…
That is Michael Bourne mot Jason Bourne
Great throw Tommy.
August 11th, 20103:43 pm
Just hit Bourn in the thigh with a 98 mph fastball to take out his wheels (20’s)…
Are we still ahead 2-1?
Why does Hanson have a bandage/band aid on his elbow?
DOB … 3:39 … I hope he meant “bawling.”
They could take the CaptainMudderland, Jr. moniker instead!
Hanson has some nasty stuff
I’ve got the game on Gameday Audio at work – and Don said Glaus hit the ball to the warning track…did he mean the actual warning track or onto that stupid “hill” they have in CF? Don is not great at calling plays sometimes…
August 11th, 20103:44 pm
He can’t even throw to a bag w/o that stupid pause.
just shy of the hill
Murphy was an influence on the whole organization. Guys like Claudell Washington, Chris Chambliss, Glenn Hubbard and others had to play hard because they saw Murph do it everyday.
wheelz007 – yes, we are…
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
