Wandy Rodriguez really helped himself in this inning. He walked a guy into scoring position. Whenever that happens with two outs, you deserve any bad thing that comes your way.

Robdawg 400 Hrs is not a requirement. Ask Al Kaline (399), Jim Rice (382) or Ralph Kiner (369). Maybe he just needed another child in the hospital to inspire him to hit those two homers. Look what he did for Elizabeth Smith. It is true stories like that which demands his induction into the hall.

Not a Hall, that was exactly what I thought. I doubt any contending teams are looking for him to fill a starting role, and why would a non-contender trade anyone for him when they should be able to sign him in the offseason? I seriously doubt there’s going to be a big bidding war among teams who want him as a starting OF.

Chop Chop, one way you can do that is to have a team that doesn’t have any good power hitters. That would describe the Astros. Also, the Braves don’t tend to give up many homers. I think they have given up the 2nd fewest in the league if memory serves.

Tom Glavine wrote a book in ‘96 after the Braves won the title where he specifically mentioned that that WS crown was won for a lot of people, the city of Atlanta, etc., but also Murph, b/c he never had the chance to do it and Murph was a tremendous influence on the youngins like Glavine and Smoltz in 1988/89/90.

Murphy was an influence on the whole organization. Guys like Claudell Washington, Chris Chambliss, Glenn Hubbard and others had to play hard because they saw Murph do it everyday.
