“hanson may have to shut them out to win today”
yeah, it’s hard to see right now the “C” Lineup scoring many runs today
The fact that it hurt is probably a good thing. A lot of times, tearing an ACL or something like that won’t bring a lot of pain.
jeffrey d and shaun, thanks that answers my question.
This game has 2 hours flat written all over it.

@Hershel Talker—like the name by the way………..Frenchy, unfortunately has been catered to alot….conflicting, in my view, the basic values his Dad taught–effective as a parent is–the kid is himself, a man, and growing up in baseball has proven to be a ‘mental’ challenge for him–he appears to psyche himself out and continually ask why? Why am I not an all-star? Just my take, and I do wish him well.
AG tried to get out of the way of a high and tight fastball – and managed to strikeout swinging in the process.
Brad Mills: “Wandy, check out the Braves lineup today.”
Wandy: “Wow, really? I thought they were trying to stay ahead of the Phillies?”
McFann :Ô: :Ô:
DANG, but does corn beef smell amazing when it’s cooking! Can’t believe we have to wait a whole nother day before we cann eat it.
Herschel, would you happen to mean introspective?
It’s Melky’s birthday? I guess I’ll cut him some slack then.

Rob – are u a Braves fan? Why wouldn’t you root for Hudson?
I love Hudson and he has pitched like a Cy Young this year, but I also know that voters looks at WIns, CG, and K’s…… Wainwright and Ubaldo are so far ahead of most starters
so much for the perfecto.
Bartholomew (Bat) Masterson
I can hear Francouer bitching to Bradley or someone now, claiming he should be starting over Heyward.
44 is King
E-1 on Tommy’s foot LOL
Also. Wainwright deserved the award last year IMO
Nice, Nick actually questioning someone else on their loyalty to the Braves.
Twilight zone time.
August 11th, 20102:58 pm
Other than Ross for McCann, why is this a “C” lineup?
August 11th, 20102:59 pm
He almost looked out there…
Deb – But it’s easy to root for a guy like Conrad isn’t it? He hustles every play and comes up with some huge hits. That grand slam against the Reds will be talked about for years
They’re going to run all over Hanson.
Frenchy could start in RF for the Mississippi Braves… Think he’d be up for it? Hey, it’s a starting gig!
bozz…..Your rotation sounds great, but you’re forgetting one very expensive pitcher….Lowe.
AGon is batting third. Nuff said.
Bleh…I guess he stuck his foot in there…
Not me. BOOOOOO Melky!

Here we go again.
Nova Scotia Steve
August 11th, 20103:03 pm
This team is brutal defensively of late.
Absolutely brutal – what are the chances that run scores now….
Frenchy is immature and may even be jealous of Mccann. they grew up together and he wonders why Mccann is getting all the praise and he is falling just a little short. He needs to go somewhere with some solid veterans who can mentor him.
WOW. Bad News Bears defense strikes once again. Seriously? Are we in the big leagues? Seriously?!
here we go with the offense we have out there today. runs are at a serious premium. Hey Bobby does this team have anyone like bourne. YET another ERROR.. this team is pathetic.. bring up the whole gwinnett team please.its unreal. BOURNE should of been OUT but we cant catch a stinking ball.. here we go errors = runs.. bravooo. JUST UNBELIEVABLE..
worst defensive team in the majors?
Oh crappo—but what can be said that hasn’t already re: defensive miscues, etc.?
Worst defensive team in the majors?
Surely the worst defensive team above .500.
August 11th, 20103:04 pm
Bad news Braves strike again. Fundamentals of baseball with this team are a joke.
I Hate Troy Glaus (formerly I Hate Liberty Media)
Cue Tommy Hanson meltdown.
Does the blog sometimes just not load for you guys? From the 3 minute layoff, I’m guessing yes
And here comes bad Timmy Hanson. Gonna get schalacked! Nice catch Timmy.
This game is so over.
Isn’t everybody a doubleplay candidate ? just some a little more than others…
August 11th, 20103:05 pm
The blog seems to time out a lot lately.
Worst defensive team by far. Just plain sorry. Inexcusable.
Someone get Tom Emanski on the phone ASAP.
DOB, you said that you were going to write a feature piece on Chipper around the All Star game, but I never saw it. Did I miss it or has that been shelved? Just curious. I was really looking forward to it.
Crazy Trades McGee
August 11th, 20103:06 pm
Instead of Batting Practice, they should be doing nothing but fielding practice.
The Astros are 2-2 with an RBI and a walk since DOB noted that Hanson retired the first 9 batters
@Nic k…it’s okay…they got a drink they say is made from “passion flowers.”
really need to limit the damage to about … 1 run only Tommy. This offense might not have a lot in them
how many errors in the last 5 games what over 10?.. my goodnesss this team just sucks . just pitiful.
This is what happens when you play your non-tender lineup in the middle of a pendant race.
CB, I feel obligated to be nice to people on their birthday so it’s up to you and jeffrey to fulfill club duties today.
These Braves are going down because they can’t make a simple defensive play that a high school team could make. Like the get runner who is caught in a rundown out.
The AJC needs to fix this crap blog. I’m trying to shred Cox for bringing the infield in and the defense in general for not knowing how to do a proper rundown. But, it seems the blog took a break for 5 minutes and wouldn’t load.
Tommy is way too fragile for this level. Great stuff……sometimes, but much too fragile mentally and physically.
We look like a “T” ball team on the defense side of the ball. No fundamentals…
I think the manager should direct an in field pratice on the day off tomorrow to include the pitching staff!
August 11th, 20103:07 pm
Yeesh, Tommy has to do something about holding baserunners. Everyone who gets on base against him is automatically running. If he doesn’t do something to discourage that, every walk or base hit he gives up is going to effectively be a double or triple.
Ken Griffey in retirement
Chipper, Chipper, come to the light. Come to the light. It is over, come to the light.
Nick….We all know that you’re just trying to get a reaction. It’s old, not funny, and pathetic.
Come on ump, it was a strike.
Nick, I wish they had a pendant race… First to grab the necklace wins the pennant!
With Chipper and Heyward both out with injury, this is a normal lineup other than Ross. It’s not like Bobby’s giving half the team a day off like last Sunday. Given that, who would you put in the three hole?
dear God. Tommy is already at 60 pitches.
Can they order his video instruction on “The Fundamentals Of Baseball” ? I think it was put out in 1987.
BravesQueen (aka Dee)
Man, Bourn was out twice before he ever crossed the damn plate!!
Chipper should take a hint from me. Concede and quit.
Not a Hall of Fame w/out Dale Murphy
Dave does Hinske still have the skills to play third regularly? I know he used to be a third baseman. Also what is up with Frenchy quotes? “We want to play every day. We prefer to play in New York. But if we’re not going to play every day in New York, we absolutely welcome the opportunity to play every day somewhere else.” Is Jeff going first and third person at the same time to get to we? Or is this some kind of Herschel Walker multi personalities? Weird sounding quote.
August 11th, 20103:08 pm
I wish we had Michael Bourne.
Michael Bourn is teaching young kids everywhere that if you are very fast, you don’t even have to know how to hit baseballs to play professionally and be very annoying.
Jeff321…..That’s all you do is trash the Braves and Cox. You never have anything positive to say…ever.
Captain Mudderland – great comments.
GT Fan – yes, I meant introspective. Thank you for pointing that out.
I see that the fielding meltdown of the day has arrived.
Lord above…that guy looked more out at third than he did at second.
Tommy needs to shave the freakin beard. Been this way since….
this is worst defensive first place team I have ever seen. just completely pitiful a joke and an embarrassment.
I guess THIS is Hanson’s fall-apart inning.
August 11th, 20103:09 pm
good to see more stellar defense today.
Sorry meant pennant. Typing from phone.
You’re an absolutely miserable human. I mean, for God’s sake, it’s a 1-1 game. You’re already saying the game’s over. Maybe you should try going outside every once in a while. Staying bottled up in your basement can’t be healthy. Pull away from World of Warcraft for all of 15 minutes and enjoy life. Let the real baseball fans enjoy the game.
Well it’s not like Heyward and Chipper can play
August 11th, 20103:10 pm
Yea, he looked out at 3rd. BUT how simple is a damn rundown? They should’ve had him within the first couple of passes.
GT Fan, Maddux essentially ignored baserunners too. A runner advancing one base isn’t the worst thing in the world if a pitcher is retiring hitters. Not that it isn’t helpful to keep runners on the base where they started.
.575, you’re just trying to stir things up, right? Have you looked at Hanson’s performance since he’s been in the big leagues?
Off to practice in the bajillion degree weather. Hoping to check the box score later for some good news
Hanson has the worst move to 1st base and Medlen has the best. Why can’t Medlen teach it to Hanson. Freaking DUH HUH !
Fred McGriff wearing a plain blue truckers hat comes to mind!
I hear JCPenney’s having a pendant race this weekend.
Oh c’mon Chip. Easy on Hanson brown-nosin’ chief!
August 11th, 20103:11 pm
Bourne gets credit for two steals and a caught stealing in one time on base…
Nice play there at 2nd!
there you go
THAT was a good play.
Not A Hall of Fame, I believe that quote was from Jeff’s agent.
just unrealll.. hanson got luckyy…
Braves aren’t scoring again. Hell, they might not get another hit.
Nick 2.0 – I wish we had Michael Bourne.
I wish we had Jason Bourne just so he could kick everyone of the Braves asses (especially the infield) so they’ll wake the “F” up.
Minor round-house kick still deserving to Melky for that throw in Cincy.
August 11th, 20103:12 pm
He looked safe but whatever.
Well, on the replay he looked out.
Jeff321….Very mature response, about what I would expect from you. How about another post about how you don’t agree with the way Cox manages the club, and how the season is over already. Fool.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
