Yep I went back and looked, he specified the jinx comment. Safe to say he does not like you.
Duh, he doesn’t like jeffrey. Ever since he made fun of DOB’s jacket.

I have a feeling Heyward’s knee might be worse than the team is letting on…How else do he not pinch hit the past few days
I will not loose my emoties . I will fight to the death for the right to use them.
August 11th, 20107:00 pm
old man: Lately, JJ has gone seven, so has Hanson, Hudson is soooooo dependable on that count, Medlen more than held his own, and even the kid Minor went six Monday night, allowing only three earned – a helluva first start.
Derek Lowe – a pitcher whose greatest claim to fame is eating innings in the absence of a sub-4.00 NL ERA – hasn’t been able to reach six innings in SIX of his past 8 starts; AND, has only hit 7 innings pitched in TWO of his past 10 starts.
What does this guy see in the mirror??? He is being paid #1 starter’s money AND HE DOESN’T EVEN EAT INNINGS LIKE HE IS REPUTED TO DO!!! Thanks to his half-assed performance on Sunday, the bullpen had to pitch 3.2 innings the day before a rookie starts a road game!!! An already abused Moylan had to come in for an ineffective Farnsworth(less) – after pitching in Sunday’s game – and allowed two hits that continued the deluge in that disasterous 7th.
The only thing Lowe-tard reminds me of is how galatically stupid Wren was to throw $60 mil for 4 years at this wasteoid!!!
nolie, everyone wants to move Marteeeen to all these different positions and I don’t like it.
August 11th, 20107:02 pm
I have a feeling Heyward’s knee might be worse than the team is letting on
I hope not. If I see many more lineups with both Melky and A Gon in the top 3 I may become permanently nauseous.
August 11th, 20107:03 pm
lol, I didn’t make fun of it. I think I just made a comment about him wearing the leather jacket in a non-leather jacket situation.
everyone wants to move Marteeeen to all these different positions
I think we should move him to CF in order to find out if it is the place on the field or the players what we put there that prevents them from hitting.
August 11th, 20107:04 pm
just shows how GREAT he is Sopheeee. he could be an all star anywhere.
Yeah, jeffrey and then you got O’Burned.
Soph & SB_
I’m glad you two got on the same page earlier. I was going to post a comment about lunch today , a beautiful woman dropped her tray . It was funny, but convoluted, and I just wanted to listen to the Braves play
August 11th, 20107:05 pm
Did he ever say what the annoying comment was?
August 11th, 20107:06 pm
Still puttin the aloe on that one
During the summer DOB’s header should have him shirtless sportin’ a speedo. Save the leather jacket for the winter months.
August 11th, 20107:07 pm
Danga, I’d rather Marteeen not be the guinea pig for that experiment.
Jeffery d wants to hug the RBI and have others let go of the W love. Where is Shaun?
August 11th, 20107:08 pm
That would’ve worked too.
August 11th, 20107:10 pm
.579, You’re right!! With all the problems I see no way this team can win anymore! When does football start again?
August 11th, 20107:12 pm
I constantly dig at David over the jinx thingy and his vacations and he hasn’t put out a contract on me yet, Jeffrey. Or it hasn’t been fulfilled yet at least. You are probably safe no matter what you say.
August 11th, 20107:13 pm
You actually used one thing in there which might give it away to most folks. But not our kitten. Whoosh.
August 11th, 20107:14 pm
a lil’ O’burn just means that he notices you
August 11th, 20107:15 pm
Did anyone witness the biggest man hug fest that was called the cards-reds fight?
I’m sure you are in his book though. The all knowing one makes note of all of us troublemakers. When he gets back, we wont know what hit us. Poor RHR must be still smarting from that takedown.
Damn the sky is falling.I swore we won today.Enjoy this psycho team.Gotta admit they never quit. Its crazy and fun to watch and all these teams get nervous with a lead in the late innings.
August 11th, 20107:16 pm
yeah SB. he set me up and burned me pretty good a week or 10 days ago.
They all so buzy copin feels nobody even throws a punch.
August 11th, 20107:17 pm
Just got home from the game. I gotta say it was a pretty boring game until the 9th. But any afternoon at the ballpark beats an afternoon at work.
August 11th, 20107:19 pm
If Hanson had Derek Lowes run support he would have 15 wins but he still would have 8 losses
Wren had to go after a pitcher. The only ones available were Lowe or Burnett. I think its safe to say he took the best option available. It amazes me how some of you ignorant people just utterly bash Wren at every opportunity without having the slightest clue how the business side of baseball works.
Remember, the deal for Jurrjens? That turned out pretty well.
Remember how everyone here railroaded Wren for signing Hudson to an extension instead of Vazquez? That worked out pretty well too.
August 11th, 20107:22 pm
Posnanski interview with Dewan.
Dewan created the defensive metric plus/minus.
August 11th, 20107:23 pm
Just got home. Has the phils80 bitach been here today ?!? Probably not, bitach !!
Long Time Braves Fan
Good win today with the C team starting. The Braves are for real, they seem to find a way to win when they have to. We will finish 1st in division. Hopeing we have a good run in playoffs.
NC State Nate
August 11th, 20107:24 pm
Does anyone realize Mike Hessman is STARTING for the Mets right now… wow.
August 11th, 20107:25 pm
McFann, what did you think about your boyfriend’s grand slam today??? Amazing huh!!
August 11th, 20107:27 pm
Oswalt looks sharp for the phillies so far.
Don’t know, don’t care when football starts. I’m a baseball fan first and foremost. When the last pitch is thrown for or against the Atlanta Braves….I’ll worry about my Falcons. My Braves need my full focus until then.
We’re not blessed with Phillies/Yankees talent. We’re a smoke n’ mirrors club, marginally talented, gritty and somewhat lucky.
August 11th, 20107:28 pm
NC State Nate, you mean Jon Niese?
From the article:
More Dewan: “People ask me: When do you believe eyes, when do you believe numbers? Well, with newer players, I tend to believe the eyes. We have such limited data — a quarter season, a half season — and so if some of the coaches and managers say, ‘This player is very good defensively but the numbers don’t show it yet,’ I tend to believe the evaluation. But as I start getting a full season of data, multiple seasons of data, when coaches say that a player is good defensively, if the numbers don’t show it, I go with the numbers. Maybe they’re seeing good skills applied on occasion. Maybe they’re seeing a few great plays. But the player is not good defensively.”
.579, we are and always have been better than those Phillies.
Really like the good news with Chipper, hope he is back soon. Even if his numbers arn’t what they used to be I beleave he has become a true team leader.
August 11th, 20107:30 pm
LTBB, you can say that again. Honestly, when Chipper retires I would love to see him as the Braves manager. That won’t happen, but one can only dream.
August 11th, 20107:33 pm
Best defensive players in 2010 by Dewan Plus/Minus
First base: Daric Barton, Oakland, +20
Second base: Orlando Hudson, Minnesota, +18
Shortstop: Yunel Escobar, Toronto, +32
Third base: Ryan Zimmerman, Washington, +23
Left field: Carl Crawford, Tampa Bay, +22
Center field: Austin Jackson, Detroit, +22*; Franklin Gutierrez, Seattle, +18.
Right field: Jason Heyward, Atlanta, +19*; Justin Upton, Arizona, +15.
Whoosh is right.
August 11th, 20107:35 pm
C’mon Trey, the Phils OWN us when it comes to fundamentals, clutch hitting, speed and defense. If not for their injuries and subsequent meltdown, we’d be staring THEM in the tookus and taking deep breaths…..and likin’ it!
Bank on it.
August 11th, 20107:36 pm
What did AG do? Apparently it sucked
Lets be realistic here….for a change.
August 11th, 20107:37 pm
Trey you are right, I don’t think he will have much interest in baseball after retirement.
August 11th, 20107:38 pm
I don’t think he will have much interest in baseball after retirement.
I’m not so sure. The man obviously enjoys the game and knows hitting as well as anyone.
August 11th, 20107:39 pm
@.579, why don’t you go watch them ?!? If you can afford it !
August 11th, 20107:40 pm
Those Escobar numbers give me another reason to be happy (as a Phillies fan) that Atlanta made that stupid trade . Jon from Pos article
August 11th, 20107:42 pm
I just read that JoePos article you posted. I had no idea Heyward is considered the best RF this year according to +/-. That’s awesome!
August 11th, 20107:43 pm
I saw that too, nolie. My gut reaction was to defend my team, but I soon realized I agreed that it was a stupid trade. Especially with no obvious SS waiting in the wings.
I talked last night about the fantastic defensive season that Escobrat is having. He was 2nd one year and third the other one b4 2010. great great year
August 11th, 20107:44 pm
Me either, RG. When you watch the guy you can tell that he moves pretty well and that he has a nice arm, but he doesn’t wow you out there with lots of diving plays.
August 11th, 20107:46 pm
What I have always liked about Chipper is he could have gone for free agentgy but he played for less money to stay with Braves, not many players stay with thier team thuer whole career. Also when we got Vinnies big bat to play 3rd base Chipper willingly went to left field.
August 11th, 20107:47 pm
I watched the Tom Glavine Spotlight today after the game, and he made a reference to Yunel getting traded because of his attitude and so on. Then they panned to Bobby and he just rolled his eyes.
Much like Alex Gonzalez likes to let the ball roll under his glove.
.579, you are a true Phillies fan aren’t you? You think the second rate Phillies team is better than our team? I don’t think so, you know, you can root for them all you want, but the Braves are the ones I root for.
August 11th, 20107:48 pm
One of the many things I love about him. He doesn’t have to make “spectacular” plays because he gets good jumps and takes good routes. Unlike, say…Melky.
August 11th, 20107:49 pm
“If not for their injuries”
We’ve had worse injuries than the Phillies this year. They just weren’t repeated over and over as excuses as they have been with the Philadelphia Underachievers.
Bank on it. .579
You should’ve said, “Citizens, bank on it!
Jason was always graded by scouts as a plus plus defensive RFer.
August 11th, 20107:50 pm
@Trey, You don’t know ?!?
August 11th, 20107:51 pm
LoL. That kid must’ve been really annoying. That trade baffles me.
And I would agree. He gets to everything you expect him to get to and balls rarely get over his head.
August 11th, 20107:52 pm
That trade baffles me.
It does more than baffle me, but I shouldn’t get into it. Blood pressure and all that, ya know?
Citizens, bank on it!
Nice.. very nice. (JP)
August 11th, 20107:53 pm
Dumbfound – I watch almost every night Chief!
I’m gettin’ in your pocket hourly, whether you know it or not boss. Bank on that too.
August 11th, 20107:54 pm
Yeah RG. It isn’t healthy. Gonzalez could make it a little easier to stomach though by making a few routine plays and getting on base more than once every other game.
August 11th, 20107:56 pm
.579, I wouldn’t hire you to sweep up elephant sh!@t !
scoots: You left out “raw-dog”.
Yes, it probably should have been “rag-tag and raw-dog ragamuffins”. That would have been better. Not much, because the original was pretty bleepin’ good…but better.
Agreed. I also wish Bobby wouldn’t keep saying that he never makes errors. Obviously, the guy makes errors.
August 11th, 20107:58 pm
poor ol’ Mixxo, had to deal with a Braves win today
August 11th, 20107:59 pm
why do you care what Bobby says? It ain’t aimed at you
C’mon man, you KNOW you don’t wanna start with me. You can bait these other chump poser fans, but it won’t work on this old dawg son.
Been a Braves fan for 38 years, a baseball fan for 48. You don’t change allegiances just like that….I don’t anyway. I have much respect for a good baseball team. It’s like beautiful music if you’re paying attention.
August 11th, 20108:00 pm
nolie, what did Bobby say?
August 11th, 20108:01 pm
Don’t be a smartarse, nolie. I know it isn’t aimed at me, but it’s meant for me. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be telling the media that crap. It’s one thing to defend his players, but it’s another thing to keep saying something that just isn’t true.
August 11th, 20108:02 pm
.579, but I can always try! The Phillies aren’t awful, but the Braves are better. Every team has their strenghts and weakness. However, the better team is the first place team, even if they aren’t playing like a first place team.
August 11th, 20108:06 pm
Oh, now RGeeee shows up. Perfect timing.
Y’all still cryin’ over Escobrat …. dude’s toast …. toes is dead …… fingernails are dirty …….
but it’s meant for me. RG
no it aint, not really. It is meant for the player and has never changed.
If you want an actual evaluation read elsewhere.
August 11th, 20108:07 pm
Of course, I am able to recognize that I’m slightly biased against Gonzalez and that anything nice said about him will get under my skin.
August 11th, 20108:09 pm
August 11th, 20108:10 pm
RG, when do classes start for you?
Jesse Chavez gave up a walkoff home run to Bobby Abreu to lose a game for the Kansas City Royals today. Yeah, I’m still not missing him.
August 11th, 20108:11 pm
Bobby says E Gon does not make errors, so he will think, “that’s right I don’t make errors,” and stop making them. He needs to say it louder or in spanish or something, quick.
Trey – Fair enough. I like our chances. I get grumpy and whiny when things aren’t going our way, but I haven’t given up on them…..ever. It was a whole lot easier to take between 1972 and 1990 because we were just plain terrible except for ‘82….then the Cards clowned us in the first rd.
Then we went on our nice little run for 14 years. All that did was make me hungrier.
If you want an actual evaluation read elsewhere.
That’s not the point. I’m not saying that Bobby should say something bad about Gonzalez, because I know that won’t happen. Normally I don’t even care what Bobby says because I know it’s a big, flaming pile of BS, but after a certain point saying that a player never makes errors gets old.
August 11th, 20108:12 pm
Not this coming Monday, but the Monday after that. I’m moving in this weekend, though, for work. I’ve barely begun packing. Gotta get moving on that…
August 11th, 20108:14 pm
ok whatever you say. personally i don’t care what he says. and I still fail to understand why anybody would.
August 11th, 20108:15 pm
.579, yeah it is definitely normal. I am happy we have been in first place so long, especially after the nine game losing streak.
Dr. Kenneth Noisewater
August 11th, 20108:23 pm
great game folks. i asked this question a few days ago and someone might’ve answered but what was the final verdict on Medlen- tommy john surgery??
August 11th, 20108:25 pm
personally i don’t care what he says. and I still fail to understand why anybody would.
Again I say: Normally I don’t even care what Bobby says because I know it’s a big, flaming pile of BS.
McFann ;Ô; ;Ô;
August 11th, 20108:26 pm
Trey what did you think about your boyfriend’s grand slam today??? Amazing huh!!
It was wicked awesome!! (Read that with a Boston accent…I have figgered out how to type with one. )
August 11th, 20108:27 pm
great song DOB- jammin out to Bob Marley’s There She Goes right now. like more of the “non popular” stuff.
August 11th, 20108:28 pm
Why a Boston accent, McFann?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
