Unbelievable! Yay Big Mac!
BravesQueen (aka Dee)
Too bad Hanson couldn’t get the Win!!
Take note, Glaus has hit a couple of balls on the nose today, along with the HR last night. Remember in April when he was struggling, he started to hit into some bad luck before he went on a tear.
And now if Bobby brings Farnsworth in we can have one of those one run road wins that proved to be so elusive years ago and we can feel even better about ourselves.
ITP Braves Fan
“Safe for Farnsworth yet?”
No – it’s never save for Farnsworth in Houston.
and boom goes the…
Why can’t these guys put up some runs earlier in the game?
Stupid me thought SS was replaying yesterdays game and the WHAMMMM…..McCann Grand Slam!

Braves 3rd pinch hit grand slam of 2010
I don’t want them to be resiliant against the Astros. I want them to kill the Astros. I want them to play like the first place team their record says they are.
Seriously, the Braves might drop down in the BCS rankings if they don’t start murdering these teams instead of simply beating them.
SHOCK AND AWE
TELL ME ABOUT SOME SHOCK AND AWE!
-Conrad flies out LF Carlos Lee
-Hinske pinch hits for Wagner
-With Hinske hitting 1b Feliz misses pickoff throw from Catcher Castro
-Ankiel advances to 2b
-Hinske is intentionally walked
-Infante 2b, Ankiel scores, Hinske to 3b
-Lyon walks Cabrera intentionally
-Gonzalez singles, Hernandez (PR) scores
-McCann PH for Diaz and hits a GRAND SLAM
And here we are
BMac just so happened to hit the slam when I was explaining it…so 4 more during the explanation…
Glaus is an Albatross
I’m sure Hanson is very happy that the team is on its way to a W….. these guys are professionals and don’t take it personally when relief pitchers don’t get it done. Honestly today it was a fluke single and good base running by the Astros, not bad pitching by Wags.
Game ain’t over yet kids.
As Skip Caray used to say – “You now have permission to walk the dog!”
OK DOB, now you can say, Damn those Braves are resilient.
This team never fails to amaze me. For what they lack in talent, they sure make up with heart.
Yeah, get Prado back, give Troy a day off every week. He might come around.
August 11th, 20104:57 pm
Even Farnsworth could hold this lead. Wait … Six run lead in Houston …
So who is going to pitch the 10th
Woo Hoo, B-Mac! Take that, Phillies!!!
Psch, why not?
Hey, whoever said the other day that Ross should get some starts at 1B had a good idea…. I really like his bat.
I was actually sitting here thinking, “It didn’t go to extra innings last night, did it?”
Home of the Braves
Don’t know if this has been brought up (haven’t been reading today), but…
If you get a chance will you ask Glaus after the game today if his back is bothering him? Every time they showed him standing/walking/running, he looked like he was in pain. Might just be sore, but he didn’t look comfortable.
I know he’s not the best runner usually, but today he actually looked like something was bothering him.
LOL, Reality Check. I thought, “I can take the dog for a walk now.” Still glued to the tube.
true glaus is an albatross
Glaus is about to give us another May. Mark my word. Like I said before this team will rally around the Chipper injury and put together a nice streak.
hahaha@ the farsworth noise

Trade this Strohs pitcher to the FEEL- WEES
I Hate Troy Glaus (formerly I Hate Liberty Media)
Kawakami time! Oh, wait…
Marc in FL
This may be the most exciting team I’ve ever seen. Lots of downs to go with the Ups, but the when you get the Ups they’re freaking throwing you in the air at 200MPH.
Barnacle Bill Bavasi
Man, that guy who said he was leaving has a surprise coming, huh?
Now let’s hope Bobby pitches Billy IN ROTATION WITH his other capable relievers. If not because Billy is obviously not as fresh as he was 2 months ago, just to get the others more in the habit of being in save situations.
Then again, Bobby never caught on about Greg Norton maybe not being the best choice for a pinch hitter either.
Aww, I miss ole Skip.
bobby should have saved wags for the bottom of the 10th..pretty sure that’s enough cushion for him.
McFann :Ô: :Ô:
I’m gonna hafta rewind that to find out what was going on…
Reality Check That was for you, McFann!!
And folks wonder why I stick up for his D all the time.
A very nice day.
C’mon Joe. Screw Hanson’s “record.” As long as we win ballgames…..I don’t give a **** what his record is.
August 11th, 20104:59 pm
Here we go again, David Ross with a two-out double.
We’ll stop trying to score if you stop trying to score.
That was fun.
I still feel bad for Hanson. Dude should at least have 11 wins.
Brian from SC
I didn’t notice anything particularly wrong with Wagner. Made one bad pitch on the single to Lee. It’s not like he was wild. Stuff was good.
If Chipper wants to be in the game maybe he should show it a little more. He looks as bored as any player in Baseball. I wish he would retire and fade away to his ranch in Texas. Has anyone ever noticed how the Braves decline when Deer Season begins?
One thing I like about this blog, like a good baseball team, the highs are not too high and the lows are not too low.
I like that.
And kudos to Bobby for making that pinch move, Matty D is my favorite but don’t think he would’ve hit that salami, so yeah for Bobby!!
Wags owes Tommy something big…I still don’t want to see Farnsworth, rather Saito.
this whole series has been freaking bizarre
wooooo!!!! i figured he’d do something awesome like that. i wonder what the record for most PH grand slams by a team in one year is…?
I don’t care how far we are ahead….don’t bring in farnsworth PLEASE
Hope Saito comes in to get this one in the books.
True that, Mixxo. Heartbreaker for him but it’s all about the W’s right now.
Please, no Farnsy.
D*mn that Conrad for making the 1st and last outs of the inning
August 11th, 20105:00 pm
Genius move by Bobby to put in McCann.
I like this pinch-hit grandslam theme the team has been working this season.
Glen @ 4:59 –
Finally, Mac has come back, to Houston!!!! and lauched a rocket!!
I’ll give the old Cox his due there…
Usually won’t use his 2nd catcher for the game in that type of situation…
But then again, most dont have a BMac just sittin on their bench…
Way to go 16!
Why does both MLB scoreboard and the AJC blog start boggin gdown and taking forever to update when sooooo much is hapening????????????
August 11th, 20105:01 pm
now we all can enjoy the rest of today and the off day tomorrow!!!
Brave4life-1995 all over again??
I say OFFICIALLY rotate Saito and Wagner
Very funny Glen
Notice that AT&T phone never calls McLouth…. just the bullpen.
I was on the way home from work and heard the Grand Slam on the radio
I have the game going on DVR
August 11th, 20105:02 pm
errors-errors-errors are KILLING us
Chip Carey, Forget a pitchers record, it is all about the team and we want the win. When a hitter hits it to the second base to move a runner over we do not say too bad he loses points on his average. If the team wins the pitcher should be happy if he gets the win or not.
Huh ? Conrad come on dude…
deja vu on the start of the bottom of the 10th
Farnsworth loosening up
Why does both MLB scoreboard and the AJC blog start boggin gdown and taking forever to update when sooooo much is hapening???????????? —SoCal Mom
Um…Chino got hungry?
Has anyone ever noticed how the Braves decline when Deer Season begins?
It all makes so much sense now.
dang that’s how the 9th started as well … I’m glad they’re leaving the bloops and slow rollers town after the game
*lol error? ……
August 11th, 20105:03 pm
Error all day long. Easy call.
McFann ;Ô; ;Ô;
10Paul Genius move by Bobby to put in McCann.
Brilliant move! This is why he’s a HOF manager.
Braves could be 4 up before they play again…
That’ll get changed to a hit.
YOu could rotate Saito, Wagner, Venters, even Moylan. Farnsworth on the other hand hasn’t shown me ANYTHING–I’m not sure we wouldn’t be better off with KK out of the bullpen than KF.
Your right Allen. I mean Cox only became the 4th winnigest manages in baseball history because he doesnt know how to manage a team.
Wagner is the closer. He should close the games.
If you pitch Venters in the 9th somebody has got to pitch the 8th. Didnt think about that did ya.
Go Takashi. I agree with the idea that Wags can’t go back to back so much anymore. We have other options than him, let’s use them. Crap runner is on. No Runners, please!!
Too bad that Wags is the pitcher of record. He has continually been rewarded this season with wins, in games where he blew the save.
The starters deserve better!!! But at least, they’re keeping the Braves in the game until the bats can come through.
Mac is on a roll…if they can get 1 or 2 other players to join him, with this pitching staff, and the Braves will be a tough team to beat.
What do the denizens think – Astros get 3-4 runs this inning?
please lord do not put in farnsworth….he doesn’t do well in houston….
August 11th, 20105:04 pm
This inning is so easy, even Chavez can do it.
Please…ain’t nothin’ wrong with Wagner. He’ll be the closer the rest of the year, and a fantastic one.
That wasn’t an error! Boo on that.
@ Headly – Wagner would do whatever it takes to win this season… even if it means he needs to be an 8th inning specialist in certain times
late inning relief doesn’t want the game to end
Shouldn’t you be getting some ice?
Allen @ 5:03 pm
Ain’t THAT the truth. I couldn’t believe we took him back. It’s like getting a Reyes or Chavez back.
August 11th, 20105:05 pm
what about venters to close. kid is a bad ass
Quit nibblin’ Takashi!
There ya go!
He has continually been rewarded this season with wins, in games where he blew the save.
As long as someone in a Braves uniform gets a win, I don’t care if it’s the ballboy. LOL…
Mac now tied with Henry Aaron for Grand Slams? My goodness.
THROW FREAKING STRIKES, saito.
Troy has had a hard day at the dish. Zero for 5! Yikes!
Don Sutton just said that the Phillies must be going through an emotional roller-coaster, too. They’re a game out of the wild-card. I don’t think they’re too worried. If the Braves keep having stuff like this happen for ‘em, it will be impossible for the Phillies to win the division. However, they can win the wild-card.
Actually, I want to come back in so we can go back to ATL, for Pete’s Sake.
Damn that HOF manager!!! What’s he doing sending B-Mac up to pinch hit? He needs to be fired right now!!!!
Jeff321 – Did I get that about right?
8 errors for the series, that NEEDS to change
Yeah, that was funny stuff in the dugout after the Grand Slam. Brian throwin’ PowerAid cups everywhere…and trying to mess up what hair he has.
And, OK, he looked cute with his hat on the way he just had it.
