The Braves have requested outright waivers on pitcher Chris Resop and sent him to Triple-A Gwinnett, Resop’s agent B.B. Abbott confirmed.
Resop made four appearances during a rehabilitation assignment in his recovery from a strained oblique muscle, the last of which came Sunday afternoon when he gave up four runs in 3 2/3 innings for Gwinnett. If he clears waivers, Resop can either accept the assignment or declare free agency.
Resop gave up five runs in two relief innings in his only major league appearance with the Braves this year on June 15 against Tampa after he strained his oblique warming up.
