how in the world was signing Glaus for a fraction of LaRoche money a mistake. Glaus leads the team in RBI’s. I know, everyone thinks he is washed up now and want him out. Do most first place teams replace their leading RBI man in July??
Bonesaw is Ready
July 30th, 20103:39 pm
Bonesaw says, make a deal to get Kelly Johnson and Adam LaRoche back…then put Kelly in LF. Snap it to a Frank Wren!

July 30th, 20103:41 pm
Dye? That is a typical Braves move…. hire the old garbage
Now the precedent has been set: Milwaukee pitchers, feel free to head-hunt against Braves batters.
July 30th, 20103:42 pm
According to MLBtraderumors.com The Braves have just sent KK and Medlen with cash to the White Sox for Andruw Jones.
July 30th, 20103:43 pm
Wren should check into getting Aflac for the Braves, because how many time have the Braves been hurt when certain players keep missing work..”He may even get cash, which is just as good as money”..Bring on tha Duck!!!
July 30th, 20103:46 pm
@tristan, you joking or not?
July 30th, 20103:50 pm
the Rangers aren’t messing around they are getting everybody they need.
They are joking obviously its in reference to their old garbage comment BUT I personally think Andruw is having a great year and would be a very cheap pick up who is out performing all our center fielders.
July 30th, 20103:51 pm
yeah joking !!
July 30th, 20103:52 pm
I wake up and see everyone having fun with it and thought I would try. Sorry to get hopes up.
@BuckheadBraves, he is having a great year and it was kinda believable. Although, i don’t think they would give up Medlen for AJ. I was away from the computer and that was the first thing i saw.
July 30th, 20103:54 pm
@tristan, i understand man.
July 30th, 20103:55 pm
912 that is why I added KK and money. It would be a plus for the Braves to get rid of him so thought we could throw Wren giving away the future but also getting rid of that bum for a bigger CF bat.
July 30th, 20103:58 pm
I’ve always been a fan of Chipper but think how much better our team would be without him this season. We could have Infante playing, and we would have enough money to get the big bat we all know we need in our line up.
July 30th, 20104:02 pm
Danny, they keep Chipper in the line up because he is hitting .320 and has an on base percentage of over .400 the last 30 days. I would like to see him hit second and Heyward third but Heyward has not hit a homerun in a long time so I don’t know that it matter much, Jay Hey hits the ball harder than Chipper, that is for sure.

Philly is snipping at our heals as the division lead cushion continues to disolve right before our eyes. What happens when we are frustrated? We vent! With that in mind, are we not then all VENTERS? I think so!!

MLB overruling the suspension reflects badly on Bob Watson, who imposed the suspension.
where is Rowland Office?
July 30th, 20104:46 pm
This lack of public accountability towards upmires has been one of my biggest gripes for a long time…the post who said we should fine and or suspend Angel Hernandez has it nailed…Heisenberg nailed it too…its a joke how these umpires are so quick to escalate anything, then nothing ever happens to them when its proven that they blew the call blatently- by that time the manager and player have been tossed and they have to go through all this suspension appeals game and NOTHING happens to the ump who started the confrontation in the first place…and trust me I am not one of these guys who blame the umps (or referees) on loses and such, but I do feel there is an unfavorable bias that does not hold the umps in the same public court of accountability as a player or manager…they just need to get off their high and almighty and understand we don’t pay 50 bucks to watch you umpire….
July 30th, 20105:01 pm
Bobby had his fingers crossed, when he said we don’t play that way.
July 30th, 20105:20 pm
Venters did it on purpose but since he hit Fielder MLB should have given him player of the week honors instead of suspending him in the first place.
Angel Hernandez should be demoted to rookie league.

July 30th, 20105:50 pm
You HAVE to be kidding me! They dropped Venters’ suspension all together? This must be part of the Bobby Cox, farewell, pity-party that MLB is throwing hoping Bobby can lose one more WS for the National League before he goes home to beat the wife again. If Venters is not suspended, MLB should NEVER suspend another pitcher for throwing at a batter again. What a joke. What a travesty.
July 30th, 20106:08 pm
After reviewing videotapes of the umpiring in that series it would be a major scandal if the league doesn’t suspend some or all of them. Geez, it was horrible.
So, Venters is declared innocent (snick, snick). Does the ejection then get scrubbed from Bobby’s record, too? (as if he cares).

“Do most first place teams replace their leading RBI man in July??”
Most first place teams don’t have an RBI leader go like 0-for-July. Those that do would or should.
Glaus is so rent-free I’d opt to keep him around under any circumstances. Bring in another first baseman to take the load off his back, but if he plays less and keeps the body parts screwed in tight he might actually hit better. He’s still working counts and drawing walks, and he isn’t a complete stiff defensively, but his power melted like ice cream in the summer sun and he looks like Mr. Potato Head limping down the base line.

Matt Diaz should be the LF everyday. Bobby Cox , the same guy that took 2 years to plug in Prado (and then only because of injury) is stubborn as a mule. If Johnson had not gotten injured prado would still only be a “bench guy”. And even then when KJ came back Bobby tried to give him 2nd base back but he continued to suck.. Bobby is 70 years old and has his mind made up about things. Think of your grandfather. Love grandad but he doesn’t embrace change very well. He decided 4 years ago that Diaz couldn’t hit righties and will not rethink it. Same for platoonong Glaus and Hinskie at first – that is the platoon you want, not left field but Grandad has made up his mind that Glaus is an everyday guy. What has Glaus done to deserve everyday status? This is the most frustrating thing about BC, his stubbornness. and inability to adapt. Some ball players are streaky – Glaus seems to be one of them. Do you just ride the cold streak forever? Or do you try something else until the hot comes again? Ok, I’m sorry – I thought this was the vent
July 30th, 20106:33 pm
I believe we just got a blown call in our favor on this one, no way I believe Venters didn’t rightfully plunk Princess.
July 30th, 20106:52 pm
Breaking News, the Braves just signed Albert Pujols!!!!!!
JK- that was mean…

Younger Than That Now
July 30th, 20107:48 pm
“Angel Hernandez, Bill Hahn, & Cowboy Joe West are the 3 worst umpires in all of baseball.”
How could you possibly make a list of the worst umpires in MLB and C.B. Bucknor’s name not be on it? He’s the biggest joke on whatever field he’s on… and we all know why he still has a job… we’re just too politically correct to say it.
July 30th, 201010:00 pm
What a crock………… A professional baseball pitcher can’t control two pitches in a row? It was either intentional or he isn’t quality enough to be in the big leagues – pick one. The excuses above this are enough to make any true baseball fan wretch. The bottom line is that Venters is a dirty baseball player and there is no two ways about it.
Cry all you want – the scoreboard does not lie and it doesn’t look good for Venters.
Social Justice – Venters gives up a HR and then a 2B.

July 30th, 201010:37 pm
Braves need this one badly
July 30th, 201010:39 pm
If Prado goes to DL season over for the Braves
July 30th, 201010:41 pm
Gotta love the effort of Prado! Love the make up of this team but still don’t understand it – should have swept Marlins, then lose 2 of 3 to Nationals, then come back and take game 1 (apparently) against the Reds….At least the Nationals remained hot tonight against Philly
July 30th, 201011:04 pm
Nice. Good job MLB. Now, just recognize Hank Aaron as the all-time home run king and make the world a better place.
July 30th, 201011:11 pm
Prodo is one tough competitor.
July 30th, 201011:17 pm
Justice is done—it was all a bunch of B.S. to begin with. I never understood why Bob Watson came down with such a ruling to begin with. I am so glad that Venters did not have to sit out even one game for that cry baby Fielders.
July 31st, 201010:31 am
Great news! Just shows the respect that MLB has for Cox and Wren; not to mention the facts of the case-the other side’s pitcher not being thrown out after plucking Glaus.
Yeah, coach joe; how does Bobby get that game back? LOL
August 1st, 201012:37 pm
Oh for crissake. Throwing the ball at the batters is part of the game. What do you think Nolan Ryan and Bob Gibson think about having a 1 1/2 hr hearing about a pitcher throwing at a batter?
August 2nd, 20109:40 pm
Its a shame that the MLB brass didnt have this kind of understanding and willingness to exmine and overturn the botched no hitter for Armando Galarraga back on 6/3/10, even after Jim Joyce acknowledges and admits that he DID make a bad call.
