If the Yunel trade was a kneejerk reaction then the Braves have the slowest reflexes on record. Yunel has been a hotdog for too long.

Is Ellsbury really a high-OBP guy? The .355 mark last year is quite respectable, but the .336 mark in ‘08 is barely above league average. It’s kind of difficult when you’re talking about a guy with a short MLB track record, but his career OBP of .347 is nothing to get excited about, even if it’s possible that he’s going in the right direction…

Greg, be concerned about the Nats by 2012. They have some nice young players beside that pitcher on the DL like Desmond & Morse. Plus this years first round pick. They look like they finally have a plan and could be on the upswing about the same time the Phillies & Mets start getting old.

It seems like Ellsbury would help us with speed on the bases, he stole home on Andy Pettite in 2009. He also can play CF, he went 178 games without an error. Seems like a good fit for us.

Most Boston fans view Ellsbury as a bit of a diva…They doubt the extent of his injury and questions his demands to use his own trainers and get his own medical opinions outside of team doctors…He’s also made some comments about discussing a contract extension only once he’s playing up to his potential so that he can maximize his pay day…While that may need to be every player’s strategy, probably not a good idea to say anything along those lines to the media…Send Melky or McLouth, Dunn, cash, and some prospects for Ellsbury and give it a shot…Its been so long since we’ve had some serious speed on this team.

The Braves need speed and a power bat…BAD. Chipper IS no longer an everyday player and Glaus has fallen apart. The Braves have too many platoon or near platoon situations right now. 1B, 3B, LF, CF. This is what a Espn writer said when asked if the Braves want a big bat, why would they be interested in Ellsbury? “when teams say they want a bat, it doesn’t always mean a middle of the order type. Sometimes it just means they want a position player. And even if they acquired a Crisp, Rajai Davis or Ellsbury, it doesn’t mean they can’t still go try and get Ross, Willingham, etc…”

The braves dont need to make a trade, but they need chipper out of the lineup i dont get it y are they so loyal to him but not Andruw or Murph or Justice. I really don’t see the Braves being interested in Ellsbury. He’s hurt and hasn’t played hardly at all this year. I do see the Braves getting Willingham or Ross, but regardless of what happens in the next 24 hours, the Braves need to take at least 2 of the 3 games against the Reds. They play 19 home games in August which should help.
