If you read any of my longer posts about the guy you know that I was a bit disappointed about the pick cause some others had higher upsides, but that I think that he will get to the show fairly quickly and probably be around a #3 starter.
my one liners are facetious.
Ewwww! Gonzalez. I just dont see what it is that enticed us to trade for him. I know this is a what have you done lately thing, but has he done anything since being with the braves? Not to my recollection. His career numbers arent good either.
Oh, I don’t know if he does, but I have read comments from folks saying stuff that sounds like he doesn’t like being on the Braves and he honestly doesn’t look to happy in his Braves photo.
Yeah, I think a guy in the final year of his contract before free agency is going to intentionally pitch poorly so team he got traded to will lose, because he made a comment five years ago after leaving said team. Yeah, that makes sense. Cost yourselves millions of dollars potentially in a free-agent contract so you can, well, what exactly? Get even?
This isn’t grade school (I’d say this isn’t high school, but such ridiculousness belongs with a much younger age group).

“Dumbfound, he didn’t say anything but folks say he turned us down and he does not look too happy in a Braves uniform. I saw his picture on atlantabraves.com on the 40 man roster.”Trey
Wow. Simply. WOW!
First of all, he turned the Braves down (6 years ago) to go play for the Yankees. Some questioned his “heart” that he’d rather be a set up man for the Stanks, than the closer for the Braves. Whatever. To each his own, right?
As for the photo? Dude. Do you REALLY think he showed up from KC and quickly drove down to the Ted to have the Braves PR people shoot a photo of him, and then THAT is the facial expression he would make?
It’s called photoshop dude. The Braves tok the photo from the Royals and converted the Royals cap into a Braves one. You know…. just like ESPN does everytime there is a trade and two minutes later they have a photo of them in the new cap?
Oh, I don’t know if he does, but I have read comments from folks saying stuff that sounds like he doesn’t like being on the Braves and he honestly doesn’t look to happy in his Braves photo. — Trey
Dude, that’s a photoshopped picture. He didn’t pose for a new picture in a Braves cap today. To get a photo up right away, before players join their new teams, websites or other media outlets will often just take a previous photo and photoshop the new team’s cap to replace the one he was actually wearing when the photo was taken.
The photo you’re talking about was taken during spring training with Farnsworth in a Royals cap.
Girl fight? Nope. I’m deciding whether to bring the big guns out. Because if I’m going to get called “mean”, then I might as well be mean.

which bad boys is that Newnan, your pink bunny slippers?
————————————-
Nah, just a quote from Rex Kwan Do in Napolean Dynamite.
shinburger, I am heading off to bed, but my sense is that it is pretty much a good trade. The only person given up that is receiving any lament is our double-A acquisition from Toronto–LH relief pitcher Tim Collins. Otherwise, Blanco and Chavez no one is crying over. Ankiel is not the big power for which people were hoping, and yet no one wanted to give up a top prospect. Farnsworth will certainly relieve Moylan and Venters in relief.
nolie, yeah Jim already left. He and cab leave in tandem. In Atlanta, Jim & his chihuahua used to stay up until 1:00, 2:00 am. Now, in LA with cabravesfan, he’s gone before 10:00.
I’m still trying to figure out the reason behind this. When I come up with a theory, I’ll share.
He’ll probably be better than what we had if he can stay healthy which is often an issue with him. What he does will depend a lot on how he is used. I kinda think they will platoon him since his splits are so poor, and if so he will likely be a help. actually his career numbers are not too far off Nate’s though his OPS+ is not quite as good. His CF runs saved numbers are about 0, so he is nothing special as a defensive CFer, but then neither are any of the others we have.
shinburger, I believe the trade will be alright, Ankiel not much of a power hitter as Moe Berg said, but have a good arm in the pen like Farnsworth is definitely a step up from Chavez. I believe it is a good trade overall and I believe it will help.
noleeeee–Surely, you were not expecting so giant move at this point? They certainly seemed to be more in tweaking mode than moving in a new, enormous piece.
wow, just got home and logged on! i missed everything today! what seems to be the general view of the trade? good, bad,or ugly?
shinburger, word for word what Moe just said at 1:42. (I sometimes have Moe Berg pop out for me, on the blog. He usually gets it right. And he spells perfectly!)
nolie, you’re right, but I am glad we got someone. It’s better than what we did have. I think this trade we did get the better of the deal than when we got A Gon, but it is nice to see Yunel play a lot better now.
u are reaching with your comments on Kyle F. and his “attitude”.
N8,
when did you become so “mean” ?
I agree, solid moves, nothing spectacular. Would have liked to get a Ryan Ludwick before a Rick Ankiel but what are you gonna do. Like Wren said, at least he didn’t give up any young pitching (or starting pitching, should clarify) which seems to be the hot commodity now with the “steriod era” coming to an end.
In all reality, given how poorly the Braves played in FLA and DC…if they win today they can at least salvage this road trip.
At least the Nats are helping out by beating the Phillies. Phillies pen is in shambles. I have no idea how they’re going to hold up down the stretch…but maybe that’s what is going to push the Braves over the top to the NL East title.
A funny tidbit, when KC was here in ATL earlier this year and Kyle F. was pitching, the braves radio guys were saying how he had the biggest “jacked up truck” they’ve ever seen (from any baseball player)…so we know he’ll fit right in with that kind of shall we say redneck vehicle
Tommeee, you had to catch my typo of David O’Brien’s name I didn’t even know I misspelled it, haha.
Yeah, Trey, but not only that, I’m still reading this blog several pages back. I recently came across where you told someone that they didn’t have a period at the end of their sentence. How could they have credibility?
I found that to be real funny. You and jeffrey d shared a laugh over it. I couldn’t believe that at the present time, I could use it against you. I couldn’t resist.
noleee, off to bed…That is what I would have guessed your take to be. Think what I was expecting. I was fine if they made no move. Think they are in a marginally better place, but no significant gain.
Tommeee, I was just being a smart ass to them because they were calling people idiots. If you are going to call someone “ignorant”, “stupid”, or anything with a lack of intelligence, make sure you have things correct. Normally I don’t care about spelling or punctuation, as long as they are not doing that or just being rude to other people.
Thanks for the reviews guys I have been trying to get updated on the days events and just from first glance i kind of agree that most are probably disapointed we didnt get a new all star on the team but hey we got another reliever and some outfield depth and theres no more chavez.we didnt give up the farm either. Now there just needs to be some decisions made on kk and glaus.

Whoa. You guys are in the future. Cool.
Never been happier to be in Alabama in my life.
I lost my radio signal just about the time I was entering the Yellowjammer State. Did you know Alabama was nicknamed the Yellowjammer State?
That’s what it says on Wikipedia at least. I trust they checked their facts.
The last thing I could make out was the double by Rolen. The now infamous 7th inning.
“Enjoy the winning,” I was told recently.
Enjoy the winning? That’s like telling somebody with a brick wall outside their bedroom window, “Enjoy the view.”

Check back in later. Hope you are doing well.

Tommeee, I was just being a smart ass to them because they were calling people idiots. If you are going to call someone “ignorant”, “stupid”, or anything with a lack of intelligence, make sure you have things correct. Normally I don’t care about spelling or punctuation, as long as they are not doing that or just being rude to other people.

that is probably why KK has been such a failure and been ostracized so lately, he shoulda bought a jacked up pickemup truck

Tommeee O’Hawkeee, you can always use something against me, because I can definitely put my foot in my mouth, especially when I am tired.

But what to do with KK because we all know that Cox is gonna let him rot in the bullpen, effectively leaving the Braves with a 24 man roster.
