First off, don’t worry too much about me, I still have that memory. I was pissed about it for awhile because I came so close to capturing it. They just put me on so fast I didn’t have time to check everything out.
Man, that’s quite a story. I hope DOB gets to see it. IMO, the previous best blog story was about a great LAdy and a so-so guy getting together, because of the MIB DOB blog.
I think saving lives is now number one!

If you read any of my longer posts about the guy you know that I was a bit disappointed about the pick cause some others had higher upsides, but that I think that he will get to the show fairly quickly and probably be around a #3 starter.

Yeah, I think a guy in the final year of his contract before free agency is going to intentionally pitch poorly so team he got traded to will lose, because he made a comment five years ago after leaving said team. Yeah, that makes sense. Cost yourselves millions of dollars potentially in a free-agent contract so you can, well, what exactly? Get even?
This isn’t grade school (I’d say this isn’t high school, but such ridiculousness belongs with a much younger age group).

We should be torching this blog over Cox’s stupidity in getting Venters up in the bullpen today.
We should especially be going to the castle with our pitchforks and torches trying to ride Glaus out of town. The #4 spot is crtitical, and worthy of all our blogging energies.

Wow. Simply. WOW!
First of all, he turned the Braves down (6 years ago) to go play for the Yankees. Some questioned his “heart” that he’d rather be a set up man for the Stanks, than the closer for the Braves. Whatever. To each his own, right?
As for the photo? Dude. Do you REALLY think he showed up from KC and quickly drove down to the Ted to have the Braves PR people shoot a photo of him, and then THAT is the facial expression he would make?
It’s called photoshop dude. The Braves tok the photo from the Royals and converted the Royals cap into a Braves one. You know…. just like ESPN does everytime there is a trade and two minutes later they have a photo of them in the new cap?
Like I said….. wow.

Dude, that’s a photoshopped picture. He didn’t pose for a new picture in a Braves cap today. To get a photo up right away, before players join their new teams, websites or other media outlets will often just take a previous photo and photoshop the new team’s cap to replace the one he was actually wearing when the photo was taken.
The photo you’re talking about was taken during spring training with Farnsworth in a Royals cap.

Girl fight? Nope. I’m deciding whether to bring the big guns out. Because if I’m going to get called “mean”, then I might as well be mean.
But I think I’ll pass. Good day to be a Braves fan. A couple of solid, but not spectacular moves that should help. Freeman getting called up would polish off a good day!
Any time that Brad Lidge implodes is a good day. Braves guaranteed to head home 2.5 games up. Phillies 0-2 since trading for Oswalt. I love it.
Gonna watch Spies Like Us with my boys. Enjoy the cat fight kids.

shinburger, I am heading off to bed, but my sense is that it is pretty much a good trade. The only person given up that is receiving any lament is our double-A acquisition from Toronto–LH relief pitcher Tim Collins. Otherwise, Blanco and Chavez no one is crying over. Ankiel is not the big power for which people were hoping, and yet no one wanted to give up a top prospect. Farnsworth will certainly relieve Moylan and Venters in relief.

He’ll probably be better than what we had if he can stay healthy which is often an issue with him. What he does will depend a lot on how he is used. I kinda think they will platoon him since his splits are so poor, and if so he will likely be a help. actually his career numbers are not too far off Nate’s though his OPS+ is not quite as good. His CF runs saved numbers are about 0, so he is nothing special as a defensive CFer, but then neither are any of the others we have.

shinburger, I believe the trade will be alright, Ankiel not much of a power hitter as Moe Berg said, but have a good arm in the pen like Farnsworth is definitely a step up from Chavez. I believe it is a good trade overall and I believe it will help.

I agree, solid moves, nothing spectacular. Would have liked to get a Ryan Ludwick before a Rick Ankiel but what are you gonna do. Like Wren said, at least he didn’t give up any young pitching (or starting pitching, should clarify) which seems to be the hot commodity now with the “steriod era” coming to an end.
In all reality, given how poorly the Braves played in FLA and DC…if they win today they can at least salvage this road trip.
At least the Nats are helping out by beating the Phillies. Phillies pen is in shambles. I have no idea how they’re going to hold up down the stretch…but maybe that’s what is going to push the Braves over the top to the NL East title.

Thanks for the reviews guys I have been trying to get updated on the days events and just from first glance i kind of agree that most are probably disapointed we didnt get a new all star on the team but hey we got another reliever and some outfield depth and theres no more chavez.we didnt give up the farm either.Now there just needs to be some decisions made on kk and glaus.
