Glaus and Chipper = THE SUNSHINE BOYS. Painful to watch.
July 31st, 20109:53 pm
.573 — Hanson leads the NL in HBP.
Good job by wren today. He was able
to upgrade the outfield and the bullpen without giving up a
top tiered prospect. This will pay off big
time when the braves can acquire an impact bat in the offseason via or trade
or maybe even sign a werth or crawford. If this team
can make it to the post season they have a shot to
make some noise. Their bullpen can shorten a game provided eof is healthy. Very similar to the 96 yanks in that regard.
July 31st, 20109:55 pm
noleeeee, that’s not a bad idea. but, we are stuck with KK, so who is the odd man out in the pen?
July 31st, 20109:56 pm
PHILADELPHIA 4 WASHINGTON 4 TOP 9
July 31st, 20109:59 pm
Hermida DFA’d today by Boston – we can get him for CHEAP!!
FW, please sign Jeremy Hermida to a minor league deal. Thanks!
July 31st, 201010:03 pm
I don’t get the Medlen to the pen thing. What is our record when he starts? 12-1 or 13-1 ? Nolee you and I disagree at times but I respect your opinion generally speaking, and it sounds logical, but why tamper with success, if it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it. If Medlen’s mojo stops, then we can talk about the pen. RIght now Medlen starting and us winning is as close to a sure thing as we have.

Steve from OH accept my trade please… DOB/MIB fantasy!

A-bomb- maybe more like the golden girls.

Ease–I forgot my password to the league and haven’t checked my team all season!
I didn’t even draft…
How am I doing, btw?
I didn’t personally care for the little laugh Melky and Hinske had out there between innings after he made a fool of himself costing JJ an extra run. Whatever, I just hope that Ankiel can produce so we see much less of MelkDud patrolling CF.
This now might go down as one of the best pens, if not the best, the Braves have had during that long run of titles.
July 31st, 201010:06 pm
What was the offer, just for sh#ts and giggles?
July 31st, 201010:07 pm
Monty, that is what I am saying with Medlen…. I kind of feel its the same thing like sending Blanco down just cause McSuk came off the DL.
July 31st, 201010:08 pm
RBI single by Ruiz…..
PHILADELPHIA 5 WASHINGTON 4 TOP 9
Hanson doesn’t have the nads to plunk anyone. That’ll be up to Johnny.
Might be a good time to get Farnsworth in the game. Good thing about him is he immediately boosts our cred in a street fight.
July 31st, 201010:09 pm
Back to 2 1/2 huh?
PHILADELPHIA 5 WASHINGTON 4 BOT 9
TnBrian, the 2002 Braves had a good pen. Smoltz as the closer, had 55 saves that year. Chris Hammond had an ERA of 0.95 in over 70 innings, Remlinger had an ERA of 1.99, and Daren Holmes had an ERA of 1.81.
That damn Carlos Ruiz always gets clutch hits it seems. He just put Philly up 5-4 in the 9th.
July 31st, 201010:10 pm
Salty, wish we had some street cred with 3/4 of our infield… Those guys are nancy’s. At least with Esco, he had some kind of attitude apparently.
July 31st, 201010:11 pm
Brad Lidge, yes come on Nats walkoff.
Let’s hope BAD LIDGE shows up tonight.
July 31st, 201010:13 pm
The umpire for the Phillies vs Nats game has been really awful.
Morse leads off with a single off Lidge….
Morgan sacrifices Morse to 2nd… 1 on 1 out
July 31st, 201010:14 pm
leadoff single for Nats.
Well at least it’s the good part of the order for the Nats.
July 31st, 201010:15 pm
Phillies-Nats game on MLB Network.
3-0 to Kennedy. Zimmerman and Dunn to follow.
July 31st, 201010:16 pm
wow that was ball 4.
Kerwin Danley is AWFUL
July 31st, 201010:17 pm
Runners on 2 and 3rd.
Anything but not a double play Ryan.
1st and 2nd, 1 out.
sorry 1st and 2nd
July 31st, 201010:18 pm
What kind of a name is Kerwin Danley, anyway?
two on one out
July 31st, 201010:19 pm
Zimmerman pitched his pitch right there.
Hearing Rob Dibble homer makes me miss Skip.
Braves need some serious help. Come on Nats, mess them up like you guys messed us up.

YES WALKOFFFFFFF Homerun
Wow, what a freakin’ day.
Just wrapping things up here at the ballpark. Didn’t forget about quotes. Oh, no. We take care of the denizens who wait around for the whole package:
Hysterical – Gameday shows the 1-1 pitch to Zimmerman in the middle of his body…
WALK OFF! WALK OFF! WALK OFF!!!!!!!!
July 31st, 201010:21 pm
And thats why the Phillies wont win the division.
Our boy Zim!
Oh, those Phils, they never lose like that.
Sweet. At least one team in the NL East has some power.
AND THE LEGEND OF LIDGE LIVES ON!!!
yessss baby still 3 1/2 games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3-run walkoff HR by Zimmerman!
WASHINGTON 7 PHILADELPHIA 5
Screw you Carlos Ruiz.
Whod thunk it–Nats take 2 of 3 from Bravos and now 2 srraight from Philles and dont even have a closer
ZimmerMAN. They got no closer.
July 31st, 201010:22 pm
Ha, thanks DOB. Keep up the good work, man!
Thanks for the quotes DOB, I am sure it has been a long day for you!
hahaha!!! The Phillies’ pen is absolutely terrible. I will give FW credit for shoring up an already solid Braves pen with the addition of Farnsworth. But the Nats really do know how to score runs.
that a boy Ryan!!!
gosh than goodness they didnt improve that bullpen
The Phils needed a closer more than they needed Oswalt
July 31st, 201010:23 pm
Thanks DOB. What do you think of the trades?
BamaDude @ CowCollege AL
Nats WIN 7-5 b9th…whoo-hoo …
COME ON D-BACKS… burry those Metros
Not to sound like one of those corny and arrogant blogger people, but I told ya so. Me and Lew told the ones worrying about Philly that their PEN sucks. Their starters aren’t as good either. They won’t hold on against Atlanta. Our pen is 100 times better and will win us many, many more games just like they have all season. It won’t change.
July 31st, 201010:24 pm
The culture has officially changed in Washington.
And here’s game story, since it’s tough to find right now on our site (lot of news and columns, etc, today)
I think the Nationals are very close to being a serious competitor in the NL east. If they improve their defense, watch out.
do they really think they can make postseason with Lidge closing games?
Its a long season and it will come down to who can hold leads.
DOB–ur the hardest working man in show business…..errr the AJC

METS WIN. CRAP. LEAD DOWN TO 6.5
if Glaus is truly hurting, a 2 week DL stint would be well worth the time now to get him ready for September and beyond. We could either give Freddie a 2 week audition or move Hinske to 1B.
Infante may be hitting his way into a daily SS role when Prado returns.
If Infante keeps hitting in the leadoff spot I would leave him there and put Prado 2nd.
Prado 2B (when he returns)
NY METS 5 ARIZONA 4 FINAL
Well, cant win em all. Dbacks get beat finally by the metropolitans.
July 31st, 201010:26 pm
the Nats are the offcial spoilers of 2010 ……
Its time to bring Freeman up and finish this thing
Phillies lost again to Nationals, Braves retain 3.5-game lead

I asked the question about the Phillies’ bullpen problems after the deadline passed. How can they possibly think their bullpen is okay? Do they even care?
Seems like they don’t.
Furman, 6.5 games back at the end of July isn’t hard to overcome.

Mets are a non-player in this game
Yea maybe, I just like burrying them.
Very scared of the Mets…
For them it is. Their pitching is a complete mess. They will far back in 2 weeks
Mets win too.
Sometimes professional teams lose…..f’n deal with it.
