Call up Freddie Freeman (Rob from SC)

Great AT BAT
Nice looking double there by Heyward.
J-Hey with a nice double there
Man the hoses
What about CF Marlon Byrd? He hist for average, reasonable power, is inexpensive, & can play strong defense. The Cubs should be selling soon too…
Chop It Up All-Star
Jason came to play, great hit the other way!!
Andrew in PA

sorry but dominic browns got nothing on heyward
McFann :Ô: :Ô:
People weren’t coming to Braves games even before the recession…I think around Buckhead would have been a better location or at least north of downtown, since most of the commuters live north of downtown and have to fight traffic going both ways to go to a game…
Maybe the hot weather is a factor in attendance. I mean out of the top 13 teams in attendance, none of them are in the southeast.
so what is your best guess as to why the Braves attendance is so bad
that has been discussed ad nauseam over the years
Let the RISP futility begin.
Way to work the count, Gimper.
Yep. What I thought.
chip needs to work some counts
J-hey with 7 more pitches
July 30th, 20107:16 pm
I agree mark, Buckhead would be much better than downtown.
Another first inning run about to be squandered.
Whomever is in charge of bringing young HITTERS into this organization is what has destroyed the Braves.
Just in complete shambles………………..destroyed with no future…………OH MY!!!
Jeez. Whaddy know. Prado and Heyward got to a full count, Heyward laces a double down the LF line and Chipper taps a weak flyout to CF on the 1st pitch that can’t even advance the runner.
Yup. CF is our problem alright.
That is why Larry gets paid the big bucks
THere is a hole in the 3 spot
The A Bomb

Glaus knows how to play third
But regardless of whatever makes the Braves not sell out every day, there isn’t one single reason and everyone could name something they think why that is.
The big point about that is that it translates into reasons why the Braves don’t have such a high payroll
Bold pre-game prediction coming up… okay, here it is:
The Braves will have a scoring opportunity in the first inning and will fail to take advantage.
Just a hunch. Don’t ask me where I come up with this stuff. I mean, usually they go crazy in the first inning, scoring runs left and right but, this time I’m betting that won’t happen.
Wow – it’s eerie that you knew that…
Why does Chip even have to say the name Ian Desmond? I need at least 2 weeks before I can stand to hear that name again…
“Is Oswalt that good anymore?”
He’s an above average pitcher who probably won’t be worth the money he is paid by the Phillies from now until the end of 2011. The Phillies had to make this move to undo some of the damage of the Cliff Lee trade, though.
Brooks Conrad never swings at the first pitch
Maybe the Braves shouldn’t have lost four World Series, four League Championship Series and five Divisional series.
Did we ever think of that?
Chipper and Brian, gettin’ it done.
July 30th, 20107:18 pm
Braves them song for 2010: Stranded
Venice Jim–Don’t say that to that idiot…He doesn’t need encouragement….
McCann carrying that extra weight and it showed there. Fat roll got in the way of the swing
WHy is it that other teams are trading for all of this talent without giving up practically nothing, but Wren apparently has to chop his balls off to get players that’s not even half has good?
Jon, but there’s more than just attendance that goes into having a high payroll. It would be nice if the Braves had their own TV station.
July 30th, 20107:19 pm
I think somewhere around Sandy Springs would be more of a central location, since the Atlanta metro is much more heavily populated north of I-20 than south. Downtown isn’t really central from a population standpoint.
But who makes up most of that population? People moving here from every where else in the country. They aren’t going to suddenly become braves fans if you move the stadium. The Braves have fans that come from everywhere throughout the southeast and every throughout the country. Downtown for better or worse is a solid location because its easier to find if i’m not from here. There can be some improvements but I think they need to stay downtown and usually on the southside of the city there is more room to build.
Yeah, tristan. That makes total sense.
(ITS big time)
I’m already pissed off because the one night I thought I would get to watch the game on my TV (MLB network), since my guide said it was the Reds/Braves game, but when I go to turn it on, it’s the frickin Red Sox!!
Then I get the damn mlb.tv logged in in time to see Heyward’s walk and Chipster hit a ball that would have been an out on a beer league softball field.
I backed off of the Heyward into the 3-hole and Chipper to the 2-hole for a while because they were winning. But this is frickin’ ridiculous.
Bobby has lost his mind.

Just a hunch. Don’t ask me where I come up with this stuff. I mean, usually they go crazy in the first inning, scoring runs left and right but, this time I’m betting that won’t happen
Nostradamous, is that You ????
Venice Jim, they do it every game.
You were being sarcastic, right?
BravesFan2010: It would be nice, but it wouldn’t be realistic. I would believe that that would tie in, exponentially, to what the ownership is willing to put into the team. If the team is only willing to put the 15th most into payroll in the MLB, then they’re more likely than not going to have their own TV station.
July 30th, 20107:21 pm
why are we so afraid of roy oswalt? at this point, hes a big name only. hes an average pitcher whos past his prime…
So, we couldn’t get the Astros to send us a bunch of money for non-top prospects?
While weather is a factor, the layout of the city has a huge impact. Atlanta has the 4th longest commutes of any cities. The three cities with longer commutes–NYC, DC and Chicago, are much more densely populated. By the time, one leaves work, commutes home, it is a huge schlep to get back to the stadium. The city sprawls and so is not conducive to having large attendance. There are many other factors, but the city layout, combined with a large population of people who relocated from elsewhere, i.e., have loyalties elsewhere, would significantly impact attendance.
more lineup obsession? sigh
July 30th, 20107:22 pm
Roy Oswalt is a bum. He’s 6-12. Case closed.
@BraveMan: We’ll not go there tonight. Save that argument for when we’re facing the Phillies and you’ll have 500 people arguing for/against you.
If Oswalt is just an average pitcher past his prime, why did the Phillies get him ?
who-hoooo!!!!!…got my chinese food, got my beer; lets see Meds pitch a gem

Venice Jim–Don’t say that to that idiot…He doesn’t need encouragement….
Mark, you totally did not mean that. I accept your apology.
it’s a transient city whose newcomers already have favorite teams.
Outs are outs, but taking Medlen to the warning track isn’t great to see in the first inning.
I don’t know if it was said here earlier but Miss Iowa — the butt of Batista’s joke the other day — threw out the first pitch in D.C. Very nice looking lady.
Actually, the Braves were the butt of that joke the other night.
Living on the edge, Medlen…
Brave4life- 1995 all over again???
All the contenders have made a move this deadline
Padres- Tejada (scrub)
Rangers- Cliff lee-Gizman-cantu
Braves- NOTHING other than trading for a good defensive SS
BamaDude @ CowCollege AL
good work for Meds !!! …btw, Hi ! to everyone !!
Besides, I have to get in whatever digs I can in the next hour because we’re going out to dinner, and watching the TIVO later will not allow the interaction we all know and love…
It was 1-2-3 first inning for Medlen, but two balls were smoked to the LF warning track
Wow, really nobody left on the trade market. What the hell is up with Wade in Houston? Does Philly and New York have some dirt on him or something?
July 30th, 20107:24 pm
If the Braves dont win tonight, i might have to kill someone
welcome to the blog, DOB.
According to Gameday, Hinske caught that ball in the 4th row in left.
Meds is medium
July 30th, 20107:25 pm
SoWeGa, weren’t you watching? Hinske climbed into the stands and stole it from a fan.
may I suggest Mitchell?
Remind me not to tell Brave4life- 1995 all over again??? where we’re going to dinner…though it might be a bit out of the way…
who is that stranger in gray and what is he doing on out blog???
July 30th, 20107:26 pm
well, the getting taken to the warning track in Cincy doesnt mean much, does it?
MLB Network cut out of the Tigers-Red Sox game earlier to watch A-Roid strike out. Why does anyone care that he’s going to hit 600 homers? He took roids for quite a few of his good years
nice swat EH !!!!!
What did I post earlier about having glaus hit BEHIND Hinske!
July 30th, 20107:27 pm
Ok, lets take a poll. Do the Braves come through in the clutch here or do they squander another opportunity ?
Let’s hope we don’t start the game 0 fer 4 with runners in scoring position.
Hey, maybe if McCann cann come up second in an inning, he’ll hit a Double, too!
This freakin’ Budweiser commercial is intolerable.
Guys today, they’re such meanies to each other but deep down, there’s a lot of love there.
Every beer comercial these days always has to feature a bunch of douches being completely anti-social and mysoginistic and frankly, I’m tired of it.
Big E! with the nice double as the Reds’ announcers dissect how weak one might think the Braves lineup is just looking at the names…(they should just check here to see HOW weak…)
maybe ill go to one of the games this weekend
Infante is quite likely to get a hit. he’s been pretty good with RISP this year.
July 30th, 20107:28 pm
Get ‘em over, Get ‘em in…
Mitch Jones traded to Pirates for cash. Braves haven’t announce it yet, but it leaked in Pittsburgh.
Mitchell showing his kinder, gentler side…
Another RISP opportunity. These will make or break the Braves down the stretch.
bring him home Omar !!!
There’s our big move!!
July 30th, 20107:29 pm
There’s that big move….
or Melky …hehe
Nate McLouth … hits another home run …. for the G-Braves …. head case.
WASHINGTON 1 PHILADELPHIA 0 TOP 3
Can our stud CF come through?
Hm. Omar, you need to hit the ball fair to get a runner home. Didn’t anyone ever teach you that?
Big at bat, Kris!
David O’Brien the cash that the braves got from the Bucs do they plan to use it to make a trade and improver this lineup?
Who the HECK is Mitch Jones ?
Brave4life1995 all over again???
Wow, this cant be a playoff lineup
Don’t they know Medlen can hit?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
