You are blessed with a saintly patience.Next test for you is spending a few hours with Joe Morgan on air.
Jacoby might cost us a arm and a leg.
“Please tell me BravesFan2010 is a troll.”
Oh yeah, and one with a zen-like ignorance of baseball to boot.

@Snotboogie: I enjoy an argument after a 10-hr day at work, to be honest. Especially when I can win.
tyler nj brave…Monty, Glaus will hit again. Gonzalez just provides stability out of the 7/8 spot and plays solid D. Pretty much the same thing ESCO was doing the first half but he fits in the clubhouse a little better it seems.
Actually, Gonzalez is a notch or two below Escobar. See, when Escobar was here, we were winning. Now he is gone, the Braves are 1 game below .500. Can’t win on the road AND can’t win at home. Great trade, Wren…you freakin douche.
Bartholomew (Bat) Masterson
July 30th, 20106:56 pm
Bartholomew, not many, but then again I can’t think of many home grown players who had star potential like Heyward. _ BravesFan2010
I can’t name even one. I can name a few they did keep as long as they wanted them.. Chipper Jones…. Andrew Jones …. Tom Glavine …. David Justice
“Explain how the Braves never have any money to get Big Name Players.”
Wren’s had money to get Big Name players. He’s just happened to pick the wrong two big name players (Chipper and Lowe) to give it to.
“See, when Escobar was here, we were winning.”
Lisa, I want to buy your rock!
Colin seriously dude, you need a tissue.
We’re in first place right now….quit your cryin.
Gregor is coming!
Toronto’s Jose Bautista to Atlanta? | Ben Maller
[...] are believed to have discussed, the asking price – so far at least — has been too steep for Washington’s Josh Willingham and Toronto’s Jose Bautista, both having career years. In the words of the Nationals’ GM, they’re not trading Dunn or [...]
Especially when I can win.
I see you are also slightly delusional……… but I digress. Carry on.
July 30th, 20106:57 pm
agree with this, Esco had that lockeroom united………solidly against him but united none the less. To much happy times can lead to complacency. Seems like Esco kept them on their toes, for better or for worse. Jake
yup just like the A’s club used to be united in their hatred of Finley back when they were winning. a little hate is a god thang, just look at many of our bloggers
“Jacoby might cost us a arm and a leg.”
I vote for KK’s left arm and Nate’s right leg.
nope be realistic lets see..2.5 up with the Phillies improving by getting Oswalt for garbage..we got some nonsense minor leaguer.
July 30th, 20106:58 pm
Okay _ Furcal
haha nice N8..take away from our best players.
Hearing rumors that Minor was pulled from tonight’s start. Haven’t confirmed that yet.
i hope and pray maybe wren will pull a couple of amazing deals between now and 4pm tomorrow like say tori hunter, downs from toronto, and maybe a good starter so medlen can be a long relief just dreaming though
Jon, I realize the Braves payroll is 15th in MLB but with the Braves being one of the top 10 biggest markets, shouldn’t they be able to afford a larger payroll ?
Red Sox Jacoby Ellsbury to Braves? | Ben Maller
July 30th, 20106:59 pm
[...] most recent name connected, however tenuously, to the Braves is an interesting one: Boston center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury. Red Sox have made it known he could be available, and if the Braves can swing that without giving [...]
I can completely understand why people are thinking the Braves need a trade. I, personally, would like to see a game changer. However, while the Braves were tearing up the NL after that 9 game losing streak, there was a constant contribution from EVERYONE on the team. There wasn’t one single person who drives in runs, who hits home runs or does anything that would constitute “Fantasy baseball worthy” other than Martin Prado. The Braves were known as a patient team who gets on base, wearing down starting pitchers and getting to a bad bullpen where they could win. That’s how the Braves were winning. We just ran into a few decent pitchers, many playing well above what they normally do. We’ll be able to turn it around, I think.
Despite that, I think that the Braves would position themselves better with the RIGHT trade. I don’t know what that is, but I think that Wren is definitely weighing every single option.
N8 is correct. If you are going to have 2 player take up 34% of your payroll while handing out another $7 mill to a banished 5th starter that is never used, you better make darn sure they are impact players.
Win now for Bobby blah blah blah… why is it we can’t make a deal? Been a Braves fanatic for 40 years. And I was there through the lean years when TBS had so little programming they would show a replay of the days game late at night. Many days I would watch the Braves stink it up twice in one day and it is nowhere near as frustrating as watching this lack of effort by the powers that be. I hate the thought of having to root for the Fu@#ing Cardinals,(live in the midwest) but i can’t take it anymore. Once PROUD franchise is nowhere to be found. Guess winning just isn’t that important to FO or Liberty Media. We have an abundance of prospects and supposedly saved some money for a midseason pickup, meanwhile the teams who are comitted to winning seem to be able to pull the trigger. Just sucks.
Willy Taveras is the answer to all
Is the question “How can we make our team worse?”
my friend is in Cincy this weekend for the series, he is a Redlegs fan..I told him enjoy losing
July 30th, 20107:00 pm
“with the Phillies improving by getting Oswalt for garbage”
I’m pretty sure we could acquire a starter with a 3.7 ERA the last three seasons if we wanted one. They ain’t that hard to get.
Not when we’re in the middle of the pack in attendance. Although it is on the up
Call up Freddie Freeman (Rob from SC)
I am calling a sweep
We will destroy the Reds
July 30th, 20107:01 pm
So how does a small city like St. Louis have a larger attendance than a large city like Atlanta ?
It’s going to be interesting seeing what Oswalt does against the Nationals tonight. The last time he faced them was in Houston on May 31st. He gave up 4 runs in 2 innings and got thrown out of the game. Probably got himself thrown out so he would’nt hurt his ERA anymore than he has.
thats the thing viral, we wouldnt trade for them if I could get them.
@Snotboogie: No, if you want to put in your two cents, I will gladly let you tell me where I am wrong. I don’t argue just to win. I argue because it’s fun to do.
@BravesFan2010: If you could point me in the right direction, where are the Braves known as a top10 market? I won’t deny you if you give me stats, but if we’re a middle of the road payroll team, I don’t necessarily agree that we’re a top10 market team.
Its offical Minor is not making his start
July 30th, 20107:02 pm
Minor is on the lineup card
The rumor was started here by the resident dingbat. Minor appears to be warming up at Gwinnett right now. Will let you know if it changes.
Jon, in terms of fanbase I guarantee you the Braves are in the top 10 in baseball.
St. Louis isn’t “small,” and Pujols
where did you read that
July 30th, 20107:03 pm
Minor is gone for Votta
July 30th, 20107:04 pm
You are not wrong – you are making the right arguments. I am just not sure you are going to convince BF2010 of your points since he is trying his best not to see your logic.Sorry if it appeared otherwise.
Even Milwaukee is averaging 4,000 more fans per home game than the Braves. I’d like to know how that is possible.
Jon, in terms of fanbase I guarantee you the Braves are in the top 10 in baseball
maybe but half of it is too far away to attend games and thus swell the coffers
July 30th, 20107:05 pm
I’d like to know how that is possible.
more folks buying tickets?
I think because the Cardinals are the best sports team in town
In Georgia you have the Bulldogs, the Falcons, Hawks, Georgia Tech, lots of competition
We traded Minor for Joey Votto’s sister?
July 30th, 20107:06 pm
That’s really really realy sad about the Brewers averaging more fans, good lord
BravesFan2010: I could also guarantee you that only 10% of the readers of this blog produce a post that makes any sense in the scheme of baseball. Even if that is generally agreed upon, it might not be true. I’d still like to see stats before I would agree with you about that point.
Jeffrey, you make a good argument with Pujols, but can you explain how Milwaukee and Colorado have better attendance than the Braves ?
nolie_ How are you? Are you having a good time?
Are Greg Norton or Pete Orr available?
Brewers have really good brats.
Anyone watching the Gwinnett game? Is Minor indeed pitching?
July 30th, 20107:07 pm
@Snotboogie: Sadly, that’s true. Despite that fact, I don’t think I’ll relent for at least a few innings once the Braves game starts.
“Even Milwaukee is averaging 4,000 more fans per home game than the Braves. I’d like to know how that is possible.”
It is pleasant to sit outside for a few hours in Milwaukee for much of the baseball season. In Atlanta, it is really hot.
Patrick, please do not tell me the Georgia Bulldogs and Georgia tech are competition to the Braves. That is an insult.
“Are Greg Norton or Pete Orr available?”
That’s AAA manager Greg Norton!
minor and blanco pulled
Andrew in PA
July 30th, 20107:08 pm
6:04pm: The Astros are picking up a lot of the money owed to Berkman and won’t obtain top prospects in return, according to ESPN.com’s Buster Olney. The Yankees expect to make one or two more moves and continue working on trades
nice good work franky
So looks like the Astros are picking up a good amount of Berkman’s salary AND not receiving solid prospects in return. Same as with Oswalt. Sound strategy right there. If they just got bricks and mortar back, that would’ve helped them rebuild better than the way they are doing it now.
Look at the demographic of the people around Turner Field…Not Braves fans for the most part…The people on the outskirts don’t want to battle traffic through town on the weeknights and during the school year to get there…The stadium was placed in a poor place, it should be north of downtown, and to compound that there is no MARTA stop in the vicinity…
Cody Ross sucks
Moe, it’s also freezing cold in Milwaukee in April, even early May and can get cold in September too.
That report was inaccurate… Minor IS pitching tonight..
July 30th, 20107:09 pm
Mark, i’ve always thought that it would be a better idea to put Atlanta’s sporting venues outside of the downtown area.
Georia is a college football state.
I’d say the bulldogs have a much bigger draw on people in Georgia
Gwinnett Braves Twitter just said Minor about to make first pitch at CoolRay Field
@BravesFan2010: You’re trying to find one single root of the problem when there isn’t necessarily going to be one thing that could be the reason that the Braves attendance isn’t as high as we think it should be.
Minor is pitching right now….Good call Nick
July 30th, 20107:10 pm
Minor has started for the G-Braves (via MilB gamecast). So chill on those stupid rumors.
I’d seriously bat Glaus 7th behind Hinsk and Infante until he starts hitting (if ever) again
Bold pre-game prediction coming up… okay, here it is:
The Braves will have a scoring opportunity in the first inning and will fail to take advantage.
Just a hunch. Don’t ask me where I come up with this stuff. I mean, usually they go crazy in the first inning, scoring runs left and right but, this time I’m betting that won’t happen.
sorry my bad saw on twitter where it said he was pulled… does anyone know if blanco is starting
July 30th, 20107:11 pm
anybody else watchin the game on mlb network hate this camera angle set up?
Chop It Up All-Star
I would venture to say Milwaukee averages more fans per night because they have a couple of superstar players on their team…Fielder, Hart and Braun. Despite the change in baseball, the long ball still gets the headlines and these guys hit a lot of them. Other than Heyward and to a lessor extent McCann, the Braves just aren’t sexy – they’re good, just not sexy.
Bravesfan2010–They should have at least put all the venues in one place, a la Philadelphia, and put a MARTA stop there so they would be easier to get to…
July 30th, 2010
minor and blanco pulled
It’s people like you and Nick with your B U L L S H I T who need to be banned from this blog…
Jon, so what is your best guess as to why the Braves attendance is so bad ? Good team, Cox and Chipper’s last year, Jason Heyward, 5 million+ metro area. What would be your best guess ?
You call Berkman old, washed up, etc. But think about him in that Yankees ballpark. Guy will hit 15 dingers by the end of the season with Yanks if given an every day spot.
July 30th, 20107:12 pm
That is a stupid rumer. Why would the Reds, who are in first place, trade their best hitter who is an MVP candidate for Mike Minor? Nobody in their right mind would believe that.
Blanco is not playing
I know one thing that could help Braves attendance. Bring back Homer the Brave !!! Or maybe have a swimming pool like the Diamondbacks do.
The other attendance problem is what someone said above that Braves fans are spread out all over the southeast, and can only get to a few games a year if any at all…
Morgan just got a triple off Oswalt
July 30th, 20107:13 pm
At least Martin got him to throw six pitches
Minor’s performance tonight is turning into Eddie and the Cruisers.
Ok, I realize Berkman has not had a graet year, but he has been playing better as of late. I still think Berkman can add a lot of value to a team.
Mark, i’ve always thought that it would be a better idea to put Atlanta’s sporting venues outside of the downtown area.
I disagree. Traffic may suck but its a central location. Sense most people do not live in the city and come from both south and north of the city it would kinda suck for people on either side to have to travel that far.
It’s hot as hell in Atlanta, BravesFan2010. I hear that on the radio and on TV on just about every game I’ve seen/heard. I’ve missed probably 20-25 games this season, so it’s stated a lot.
Also, the recession and the fact that people would rather save around the ATL than to attend more baseball games, there might be something to that.
and delicious brats.
whats the deal with the micheal noboa rumor?
July 30th, 20107:14 pm
Jake, I think somewhere around Sandy Springs would be more of a central location, since the Atlanta metro is much more heavily populated north of I-20 than south. Downtown isn’t really central from a population standpoint.
rob sorry i really thought minor wasn’t pitching. is blanco being called back up tomorrow
Nats have the lead
Way to work him – Yes, Jason!
Is Oswalt that good anymore?
very nice hit heyward
