Dave O – two things 1. enough already with Cox platooning Diaz and Hinske. Put Heyward in center and play those two every night!! Melky should be fourth outfielder!!!! 2. Braves won’t make substantial move and roster they have now is wildcard at best and will exit playoffs after first round.

Thanks for the new Blog, Chief!

At Cincinnati’s ballpark, Brian McCann has a .367 average with seven homers, 15 RBIs and a .767 slugging percentage in 15 games

Oh yeah! One of the first things I do when the new schedule comes out is look up when they go to Cincinnati, and how many times. :P

Tonight would be a very good night to begin to right the ship., Bravos! Put your hittin’ shoes on!

The speedy Jacoby Ellsbury in CF would give the Braves a new dimension – but I honestly believe the more pressing issue is 1B. Glaus was great in May, but, unfortunately, that’s been about it. To keep the pressure on the rest of the division, we need for him to find his May stroke – or even something close to it! If he can’t…

Thanks for the new blog, DOB!

Lets hope the Braves follow their previous trend: playing to the level of the competition. They lost two straight series to two of the more bottom-dwelling teams in the division. Now they are facing a contender in another division. The competition level is higher. Last year, it seemed we could win games against top teams and lost to the dwellers.

Too bad Mac and Ross can’t play simultaneously with those numbers.

I really don’t wanna think about some of the trades we have made over the years to “save us”.Wasn’t it just last year we got a franchise player in Nate Mc Clouth? And even this year we got Gonzales for Escobar. Esky is on fire in Toronto And Gonzales is a good guy, but he isn’t hitting either. We got Mike Church for Franceur and released him at the end of the season. We also let Javier Vasquez go for Melky, who also is a good guy, but he hasn’t helped either.

These guys you’re talking about are not very good hitters eiher. Idon’t believe any ofthem are any better than what we already have. Please don’t upset the applecart with another “franchise player” who isn’t one!

Are you talking about RBI’s during May and June? Cause they don’t really do anything for you when your in an RBI situation in August. You put speed in our #1 spot and it will come down to Chipper and Glaus to drive them in. You already know how that’ll end up. Bobby won’t move Jones.

Jacoby Ellsbury is the only guy I really like from the current field. Thats a deal we need to make if we don’t have to give up more than one good arm.
Glaus isn’t generating any power because his legs are gone and he needs to sit for a week. How about putting Ross at 1st base???
Bobby needs to get Hinske or Ross in at first and play Diaz and Infante (anywhere!!) everyday. To have Infante on the bench is a crime. He is one of our best hitters AND best fielders. Chipper and Glaus are killing us right now and their action needs to be limited until they can get it together.

Chavez and KK are taking up roster spots that Kimbrel and Minor should be using…that just seems like a no- brainer.

But I would stand pat on the trades given the options unless you can steal Berkman or Guillen, ie. we don’t have to give up prospects. I like our backups to do a better job than those guys.

Ellsbury is the only guy I’d want. he is young and may be around more than a rental. The question is for what price. the red Sox are still contending so it’s not a buyer vs seller scenario. The deal shouldn’t be lopsided. But knowing Wren, we’d give up too much anyway.
Dealing with the nats would be a msitake as they apparently are looking to rip teams off.

One name I haven’t seen connected to the Braves, but I know is available is Luke Scott. He’s 32, doesn’t have a big contract and can play corner OF. He also swings for some power. Seems like you could get him at a modest price.

If Ellsbury is affordable AND healthy, that’d be a hell of a deal. He’s great at the plate, loads of speed and other than 2009 is a very, very good OF.

I would love to get a lead off guy. I’ve been thinking that that would work just as well for the Braves as a home run guy, maybe better. You could move Prado to the 2 hole, and then move Heyward to the 5 or 6 spot depending on R or L pitcher. Think what Prado can do with a guys on base. I would like that move, and would probably be a whole lot cheaper for the Braves than Willingham, who I don’t really see helping us all that much. He would just take Diaz and Hinski out of the lineup, he’s not a CF.

Ellsbury would be a great addition (to pat myself on the back this fantasy GM made the suggestion of Ellsbury last week). The BoSox are looking for bullpen help. Might Dunn and a prospect help. He would be a big upgrade in CF, could hit 1st or 2nd, and would be a Brave for a while.
