We don’t need a trade… We have Diaz, Infante, and Hinske. Those guys are just as dangerous as the Phillie hitters.

You guys expect a little too much from journeymen and over the hillers. This is a gutty team, but it is middle of the pack in the NL in terms of talent. Over the course of 162 games, that tends to catch up with you. And none of the bats that are available on the trade market will make enough of a difference to give up young talent.

I’d rather see Kawakami out there than Lowe, the guy never gives us length and seems to make at least 3-5 pitches a start where you just go “what the hell was that”… he’s the highest paid 5th starter in the majors

The Braves seem to be taking a swan dive at the worse possible time, I can not understand why in the hell Bobby left Diaz in to hit against a righty. I mean Diaz was batting 217 you have to put Hinskie in. After all to give Diaz some credit he is one of the very few that has produced today. Chipper sucks, Glaus sucks, Heyward is slumping.

Its worry time folks. we have lost almost 5 games on the phillies in less than a week. we are starting to look like the Mets who collapsed 2 yrs in a row. oh and then we go to cincinnati.. good luck there with this pathetic offense right now. 2.5 games back is nothing.. within the next 7 days we are out of first place guarranteed. WHEN you lose to The Marlins and the strasburgless nationals you deserve to not be in 1st place.

Over/Under 7 on days left in 1st place?

This time next week, we will be a game behind. Not saying we won’t make playoffs or even get on a hot streak and recapture 1st, but it is what it is. Not playing good ball right now, we were do for a streak like this and we’re getting it, let’s just hope we can regroup and go on a run. You have to beat the teams below you, especially in your own division.

Wren is in a bad spot. I think this team has the parts to get to the series with the addition of a peedy outfielder who can hit for average thereby getting on base, or a power corner outfielder. It would take a manager who would massage the lineup everyday based on who was hot and not just lefty/righty matchups. He does not want to give up too much for a bat, but he knows that Cox is not going to make the day-to-day moves to do this he will continuosly do the righty/lefty moves and call that proactive managing, so the pressure is on Wren to get a bat that is similar to the Fred McGriff trade.

Whether some of you want to admit it or not, this team is in some trouble. They’re not hitting or pitching well right now. Oh, and Danga?

Adam Dunn just showed you the value of a legit #4. With one swing in a playoff drive, you turn a tight 4-3 lead into a better 5-3. THAT’S what the Braves have been missing from their regular lineup, and will miss dearly in the next month.

That little anecdote you mentioned earlier about stringing hits together? Cute stuff.

Playoff teams, as a rule, win with power – and guys you depend on to drive in runs in bunches. Don’t let the anomalies of baseball rule common sense. Wren did the team a lovely when he took a flyer on Glaus.

Stack Troy along the tinder that was Garrett Anderson and Raul Mondesi, please.

luckily the Braves are more level headed than this blog. The highs are way too high and the lows are drastically low.

That being said it does look like the Braves have lost their fire, their edge. They often look like they are going through the motions now. Some players through their motions and expressions almost have an “oh well” appearance.

Even though it is still the end of July, every game matters. We cannot dig another hole and expect a big run in the last 2 weeks to carry us. I expect the Braves and Phillies to battle until the multitude of games between them at the end of the season.
