How can anyone be optimistic when you see the Phillies cut into our lead this week? It is bad enough that we are not scoring but we are giving up four or more runs each game. And we blow two games we should have won. I too like keeping our pitching prospects but I am willing to trade a couple of them for some offensive help.

WTF man, this team is falling and falling fast, 6-6 since the All-star break and only 3.5 games in front of the Phillies who just dealt for Oswalt. Meanwhile, we have Derek Lowe, Tommy Hanson, Jair Jurrjens and Huddy, with Huddy being the only one pitching consistently. Our offense is horrible and yet, Frank wants to stand pat, I will bet my entire months salary we are in 2nd place by monday. Bet on it.

there is a GIANT whole in our lineup and it is the #3 hitter!!! Chipper has simply not gotten it done, he is a shell of himself and is no threat to opposing pitchers… Chipper will string together a good game or two and everyone will declare HE IS BACK!!!! THE NUMBERS DONT LIE PEOPLE!!!

Carrol put up the new stat of the day. Nats bullpen ERA against the Braves this year near or under 1.00. Yeah that was one!! “first place” braves can’t hit against that stellar Nats bullpen. Just sickening.

The blog is proving again today why no one here is a GM in baseball. Its a 162 game season with some good streaches and some bad. We are in a bad one right now but built a large enough lead during our good streach and the phils bad that we even if we lose today and they win for the 8th time in a row will lead by 2.5 games. I think I am ok with that

Ok…seriously….did you guys ever think Wren was using the Nats series as a gauge to whether or not hes going to have to make a trade….why the hell do you think Mclouth saw so much action in Florida??? It was a gauge…he didnt produce and they sent him down….now…this series was a gauge….and Wren will adjust accordingly…i mean seriously i had no clue of the Agoz trade until i got an ESPN Alert on my phone…..I was blindsided….as everyone else was…..hopefully we will be blindsided by Saturday. Chris Young or Marlon Byrd…put it on the board.

There have been a lot of posts today about trade deadline panic, what will the Braves do now that the Phillies are getting Oswalt, etc. There’s no reason to haggle or complain about what Wren won’t do, isn’t doing, hasn’t done, etc. All Wren has done is build a team that is in first place and 16 games over 500. So, I suggest nobody overreact and complain until after the trade deadline. See what happens first before speculating and complaing about what Wren has done, won’t do, ought to do, etc.

No we beat them yesterday…..and I dont have an algorithm for when Lowe pitches….as far as Tuesday…Hanson pitched great…..got screwed my shotty defense….and that POS Nyjer Morgan…..hes not a player….he benefits from slap hitting and speed…hes garbage.

Best part of this series with the Nats is that we have been making them use their bullpen up so when the Phils come into town this weekend, the bullpen won’t be rested! We get the Reds rested bullpen without Huddy pitching, and the Phils get these Brave killers.

Forget making a trade. If we want to keep pace with the Phillies we need to fire our hitting coach immediately.
You know, it’s one thing to fire a guy in haste when you’re in a slump even though you’ve made back to back World Series appearances. But for a guy like Terry Pendleton to still have a job with the same team after presiding over the kind of offensive futiltity we’ve seen in recent years, after so many promising young stars and proven veterens crashing and burning, not to mention multiple playoff defeats, is just unconscionable.
If the Braves got rid of Terry Pendleton, I’m convinced this team would see the same kind of results the Phillies have experienced over the last two weeks.

we are 3.5 up right now…if we win tonight and they lose tonight they will have one 7 of 8 and only made up 2.5 games. So it could go either way. Yes if we play like this the rest of the way and they play like they have the rest of the way it would be a problem but with the braves having such a good record at home and having so many more home games comming up I like our chances

Even as a Braves fan though, I mean we can realistically say we SLIGHTLY over-acheived in May-June. This slump does not surprise me one bit…no pitcher is scared of this line-up.
