Next for Braves
Who: at Marlins
When: 12:35 p.m. Thursday
TV; radio: FSSO; 680 AM, 100.5 FM
Probable starters: Braves RH Derek Lowe (10-8, 4.48 ERA) vs. LH Scott Olsen (2-2, 3.77 ERA)
Thursday’s matchup:
• Lowe gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings including a Dan Uggla two-run homer in his last start against Florida. He’s failed to make it out of the sixth inning for three starts. He gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings in a June 29 loss to the Nats.
• Olsen makes his return from the disabled list where he’s been with shoulder inflammation since late May. He had shoulder surgery a year ago. Olsen held the Braves to two runs (one earned) in 7 1/3 innings of a no-decision on May 6.

I think there has been a mix-up. Lowe will face Stammen and the Nats tomorrow.

Lowe is streaky….not as bad as Glaus…but it seems like he needs to make the innings interesting in order to pitch out of them.

If you ignore all the hype that Halladay has received and just go on performance, Tim Hudson is right in the middle of the Cy Young race. Better record, similar ERA and just seems to win those games that stop a losing streak. Now about that right handed power hitter.

And Ubaldo hasn’t been the same Ubaldo of April and May…But the speculation is probably just a bit too soon. :\

It is definitely not too late for Huddy to win the Cy Young Award. He’s been steady all year and several of the front-runners (Jimenez, Lincecum, Halladay) have been hit hard recently.

I said two week s ago that the Phils will catch the Braves by August 15. They have Charlie Manuel; we have Boby Cox–big edge to the Philies!
Think the bold and courageous Manuel would still have Chipper batting 3rd?
That’s the big difference between a winning postseason manager, and the worst ever in Bobby Cox!

Picky Picky – How many major league games have you managed? That is what I thought. The real baseball people will put Bobby Cox in the Hall of Fame. The real Braves fans appreciate what he has done and we are rooting like hell for him this year. If you are a true Braves fan you would too. Anybody knew this race wasn’t over. So many injuries for the Phillies. I will take the Braves starting pitching and that will be the difference.

Want to go to the game but they are pretty serious about calling for t-storms around here all afternoon tomorrow. Not hoping for a double header.

DOB, I would like you to type this before tomorrow’s game: “Scott Olsen has had the Braves’ number lately. He’s 1-0, with just 4 ER allowed and 13 K in 16 IP over his last two starts against them, dating back to July of 2009. By the way, the Nationals have won both games.”
Somebody please jinx him!

tristan – you missed a bit … “pending Oswalt’s permission” He has the final say as to whether or not he goes to the Phillies, so its not official.

atlanta has no hitting coach, just a figure in the team, perhaps just a lack of talent, thank you mr. wren for your crummy hitters
