Andy, if you think Bobby would use Venters to intentionally hit Fielder, knowing he could get suspended, when we are facing a REAL team starting tomorrow and need him badly, well, you may be missing a few brain cells. Anyone who follows the Braves knows that he would have used KK or Chavez if he wanted to plunk the Corpulent One. And no, I don’t resort to calling him fat because I have nothing meaningful to say, I’m just stating a fact.

Andy, the Brewers fan is back today to gloat because his pantywaist, unprofessional manager went and complained to MLB because his obese 1B got plunked by a rookie who is known to throw wild pitches. The fact is, Andy, your pitcher hit our player yesterday and received a warning. Two batters later, he hit another player and our manager did not demand that the pitcher and your pansy manager get ejected as happened to the Braves the night before. He could have demanded that the umpire enforce the rules, Andy, but he didn’t because he’s a professional who isn’t petty. Perhaps your wussy manager should stop having his players hang out all over the plate and they wouldn’t have the most hit batsmen in baseball. As for Prince Fata*s, maybe he could lose 130 pounds, you know get around 180 ( good weight for a 5′11″ guy), and he wouldn’t be such a gargantuan target for an errant pitch.

After seeing the way the umpring has gone, it is no wonder fans look at the MLB as trying to force bigger market teams in to the playoffs. It is all about $$$, not who has the best team. Besides, in the golden era of baseball, this kind of thing happened all the time. Fielder has enough padding on him to take a small passenger train without feeling anything.

this is yard waste, nothing more. Apparently the fans in Milwaukee have been wailing on Macha for not having cajones to stand up for his players. Just our luck the lowlife would piss and moan to the MLB home office….now he looks like a hero to his hometown and we are out a key reliever for 4 games. I just wish Venters had really drilled him instead of hitting him between the shoulder blades…

Objectively? Yes, I am looking “objectively” at the fact that after the umpire warns the pitcher and both benches the next guy who plunks someone gets thrown out. So, why didn’t the Brewers pitcher get thrown out? Fielder leans his fat butt almost covering home plate. You try to throw inside to him and not hit him. All people who lean out over the plate know they will get hit and most take it in stride. Just because he is a crybaby is this a big deal.
Next time they should drill him with a 95mph fastball and not a breaking ball

1.) Crybaby? What did he say? The only comment I heard was him saying its part of the game.

3.) It wasnt close. if you hit a guy in the elbow that is brushing him back, putting it between the numbers is not tring to pitch inside, consdiering the catcher was setting up on the outside corner.

Did Venters hit Fielder on purpose? No doubt aboutit. If you’ll look back to our series in May, Hanson hit Braun and Davis hit McCann after Glaus hit a HR. Ok, we’re even, right? Next night in that same series, we’re blowing them out and they hit B-Mac again. He left the game. As Don Sutton often tells us, ballplayers have a long memory. To my way of thinking, there is payback due to the Brewers even though it will come next year since we are done with them this year. If Macha wants his prima donas to not get hit, he needs to talk to his pitchers.

I agree with other posters here. I was a pitcher and played a little in college. I would never try to plunk some one with a friggin breaking ball. I would have aimed at Fielder’s large @$$ with a fastball (mine’s more of a Niekro fastball. It wouldn’t of hurt him too much, but he would have gotten the message.

I would like MLB to review the entire Brewers team…they have the 4th best offense in all of baseball and are currently 10 games out of first place….Perhaps a suspension is merited for impersonating a major league baseball team????

Braves Fan80 Now I think that the Brewers pitcher should have gotten tossed after hitting Glaus, but not suspended. The reason Bobby and Venters got suspended is because Venters was throwing at or near the head. If Venters would have not thrown one at his head and then in his upper back there would be no suspension. MLB considered it head hunting and thats why they got suspended.

Wow, a lot of people have a lot of opinions when it’s obvious they didn’t even watch the game. First of all, Venters drilled Fielder with a “sinker” (that’s a type of fastball) not a breaking ball. Even Joe Simpson called it intentional, especially since the first pitch was right at Fielder’s ear.
As far as the Braves who got hit, look at the game situation and it’s clear it wasn’t intentional. Glaus got clipped with the catcher setting up inside and it LOADED THE BASES! Only an idiot would think that was intentional. Heyward got dusted with an inside fastball that basically only hit his uniform. Considering that they were pitching him inside for the whole game and that was the third consecutive pitch to the same location, one could actually argue that he leaned into it as much as you could argue that the pitcher was throwing at him. If you watched either game, it’s pretty clear who was headhunting. I’m a Braves fan, but our guys were the bad guys in this one (and Fielder didn’t “watch” any of his homers – the replays were pretty clear on that).

Ya this is total bulls**t. Cox and Venters not only get ejected but also fined and suspended for the same actions two of the Brewers pitchers did in the same inning and they get…nothing? Are you kidding me? I watched the highlight and saw the umpire step out and point at both benches after Heyward got grazed. Is that not a warning? Then Glaus gets plunked and nothing happens. It’s gotta be the same for both sides.

I get it man, this is the first time all year the Brewers have backed up their own. I wish the Brewers were more like the Braves in that way. I havent come on here knocking what the Braves are doing. I think they have a great team and I love that Bobby cox gets into it when backing up his guys. All I ever said was thishappened because of the location of the mis and the HBP.

Milt, Yost did a very good job of handling the young players. When they were in the hunt for a playff spot the word was that he became very uptight and made all the players nervous. The Brewers wanted someone a little more even keeled but it seems like Grandpa Ken is napping through most of the games, the need to find someone with a pulse that dosnt freak out when the pressure is on.
As far as the GM, most of the fans want him gone after the year too. This year his signings have cost us a lot. Souppan and Hall are playing for other teams while making 20 million from the Brewers. Also he takes a lot of heat for not developing any young pitching beside Yo.

Escobar’s trade was a dead-head culling. He would never have helped the Braves, he had quit playing.Wren got the better end of the deal.
I hope Excobar does great in his career, and Reyes too, but neither one of them were helping the Braves.
