we’ve already got a Josh Willingham on this team, his name in Matt Diaz
June 30th, 20109:15 pm
If Diaz comes back and plays the way he is capable of playing, the Braves are in pretty decent shape in LF. Of course, as Wren looks to make a move, LF may be the position with the most available trade pieces out there. So that may end up being the deal if they do go and get a bat.
That ball never had any part of the plate. That was ridiculous.
June 30th, 20109:16 pm
Let’s not get carried away GG…
JC from DR!
WOW!! How on earth was that a strike??
McFann 1 :Ô: :Ô:
June 30th, 20109:17 pm
chilidog Molina is only going to play for like four innings.
Haha! Not with Charlie Manuel! Molina will prob’ly go at least 6…course, if there are three catchers, he might come out sooner. Last year he went 8.
Oh…yes, I’ve had two Turtles for a while now…end of April, maybe.
June 30th, 20109:18 pm
So long Chip and Joe…Mudderland out!
McFann … yeah, that was crazy wasn’t it?
I figured McCann must have been hurt to only catch that last inning and never get an at-bat. Apparently, Manuel forgot he had another catcher on the team.
June 30th, 20109:19 pm
Daybed, but don’t forget the Mets are facing Volstd who complete garbage.
MikeinFL, oh, ok. That’s cool and I wouldn’t mind seeing Willingham a LF for us. I’d just hate to see one of the pitchers we would send them dominating us a handful of times a year.
June 30th, 20109:20 pm
That dude is fast.
A 3-1 bunt? Guess it worked out, but that’s odd.
TnBrian — You’re right. Mets just pushed another run across and now have a runner on 2nd with 2 outs and their lead RBI man, David Wright, up to the plate. 4-2 Mets in the top of the 2nd.
June 30th, 20109:21 pm
Oh, he got an AB last year…that was 2008 that he came in for 2/3 of the 15th and didn’t get an AB…
Apparently, Manuel forgot he had another catcher on the team.
Yeah, he took his ASG managing tips from Clint Hurdle. Of course, his excuse was, “Molina’s the ‘hometown hero’.”
Just rare back and give him the old Kentucky Blue Gas.
Brave4life-1995 all over again
Alright, that was beautiful
June 30th, 20109:22 pm
Olivo gives Charlie another solid defensive catcher. To be honest, if it’s Molina, McCann and Oliva, I don’t see McCann catching. I see him getting a pinch hitting opportunity and I would be okay with that.
David Wright strikes out looking, 4-2 Mets going to the bottom of the 2nd.
Nice work by Venters. Anyone else think he is passing Kimbrel as this teams next closer?
June 30th, 20109:23 pm
Lawton, agreed. Maybe just an emergency catcher. Molina deserves to play and so does Olivo.
June 30th, 20109:24 pm
I heart Johnny Venters!!
Heart. Heart. Heart!!
Roy Hobbs, yes. Venters is probably our closer next year. I’m with Lew … I think Kimbrel is trade bait, either this summer or in the offseason. But, don’t take it to the bank. I’m just a fan sitting at home.
Also, it looks like the Marlins’ Chris Coghlan may be a Teixeira-like slow starter. .195 in April, .252 in May, .373 in June to bring his season average up to .281 currently.
Speaking of Barajas … dude has a .286 on-base percentage. Has seven walks ALL YEAR.
That’s insane. Heck, Francoeur is telling him he’s got to work counts for crying out loud.
June 30th, 20109:25 pm
Daybed, Volstad sucks. I swear, I think his only good starts in MLB came against us last year.
June 30th, 20109:26 pm
Oh yeah, if they have 3 catchers, there’s no way BMac gets in the game…unless he DH’s, and I doubt that happens with all the other choices Manuel will have.
Yeah, he might pinch-bat, though. That’d be cool…especially if he gets a hit!
June 30th, 20109:27 pm
Is Prado’s mom here to stay, or is she just visiting? Last time she left he had that dizzyness
Bout to say…
June 30th, 20109:28 pm
lets go go deep deep chipper chipper
June 30th, 20109:29 pm
Be nice to see the McCann swing right here that he had against Strasburg in the first on Monday night. Concentrate on hitting to left there, big man.
June 30th, 20109:30 pm
here’s ya a trivia question(an easy one, at that), what shoe company does chipper jones have an endorsement deal with?
BamaDude @ CowCollege AL
BMac makes ‘em pay here !!!!
June 30th, 20109:31 pm
uh oh, that could be bad……..
oh no !!!
McFann 1 =Ô= =Ô=
Aw fudge it. Please don’t be hurt, Mac.
Uhh. Yeah. That sucks. That could be broken.
Missed the last hit by pitch, got hit again. He is our third hit batsman tonight.
June 30th, 20109:32 pm
No, he did NOT swing at that!
man, that looked liked it hurt
June 30th, 20109:33 pm
Ouch, that sux. Mac looks ok, hope nothing is hurt in there. He certainly did NOT swing.
Next inning somebody needs to get drilled.
Well at least it loaded our bases, now we have a chance to score.
McCann has some smiles, looks like he is alright
June 30th, 20109:34 pm
Well, I’m glad it was that on that hit him and not the one before it…
He and Dunn cuttin’ it up at first base. Love that smile, BMac!
Hit a Nationals batter? Hmmm, how ’bout Morgan? Good canidate if ya ask me.
June 30th, 20109:35 pm
somebody on the Nats better get plunked, especially after Santa Glaus hits a slam
Brave4life McCann has some smiles
June 30th, 20109:36 pm
Like to see Mac come out for a pinch runner. Even if nothing is hurt bad, get him sat down and get some ice on that asap.
Poor Brian has permission to bless himself with his left hand for a few days. He won’t be using that right one too much for awhile.
alot of people don’t know what Mizuno is…
June 30th, 20109:37 pm
Roy Hobbs -
We don’t really have anyone to catch- Ross is still hurting too
If you say so, gene. Willingham is what we keep hoping Diaz will become. Willingham hits both lefties and righties and isn’t hurt most of the time. I love Diaz, but he’s a platoon player at best.
Hinske has been very clutch for us, maybe he can get a knock
Glaus has been awfully cold lately…not April cold, but cold…
Braves just sent out a release that Vizcaino was diagnosed with a partial tear of the ligament in his elbow and is expected to return after six weeks in the rehab program in Orlando.
June 30th, 20109:38 pm
Walk is an RBI
Will take that
Nice work Hinske
4-1 Braves !! …WTG EH !!!
June 30th, 20109:39 pm
at least with having TP as our next mgr, he’s one who is definately for the ‘retaliation’ of our guys getting hit..we’ve never done that enough, imo….
What happened to Mac? I just got home and got settled in and saw you all talking about “could be broken.” I sure hope not. McFann????
that sweeping slider always get escobar
That doesn’t sound good on Vizcaino…never good to start having elbow issues at 19…might as well have TJ now and get it over with.
Maybe Yanks knew? (:
June 30th, 20109:40 pm
Choppinmama Poor Brian has permission to bless himself with his left hand for a few days.
Haha…really. Poor guy’s really been takin’ a beating there…
Only problem is Ross has a hurt right hand as well…he’s gonna get a shot after the game.
Glad there’s a day off tomorrow. PS–Great job, Hinske!
Did he just get ejected??
Thanks, Carroll. Hot off the presses………er………..downloaded quickly………..and reported to the denizens.
June 30th, 20109:41 pm
careful Esco !
I think Mac needs to get two days off with all the beating he is gotten lately, Ross can’t be hurting that bad. And Troy has been bad lately, a day off saturday or sunday would be a good idea, matty diaz needs to play, and hinske can play 1B.
did you see that look Escobar just had seeing Bobby come out of the dugout,,kinda looked my one of my 6 year olds when he knows he did something wrong…
June 30th, 20109:42 pm
TnBrian — against teams Volstad has faced 4 or more times, he’s got his best numbers against the Braves, though they’re not that stellar. In 4 starts, he’s 1-2 with a 4.30 ERA, 1.435 WHIP, and 11 Ks (23 IP).
Mets up 4-2 in the bottom of the 3rd, 2 outs and a man on 1st. 62 pitches for Pelfrey.
He got NAILED in the right hand with a pitch. Shouldn’t be broken, but ya do worry about those things…
That pitch was inside, Yunel lucky to stay in the game…
i love innings like that where we’re fighting and clawing for runs
of course Escobar fails to come through yet again, surprise surprise
Yeah, I know Ross is still having issues, but either he is available or they have someone who is the emergency catcher. If Macs hand was really hurt, what would they have done. Seems he is ok, which is great, but I know from experience that getting ice on something right away is the difference between having a bruise and having it swell up like a pumpkin. Guess they just figured the lesser evil is keeping him in there.
Tomas, we got 3 RHP coming up with Fla. Doubt Diaz starts one of those games.
Yunel had a legit gripe there !!!
June 30th, 20109:43 pm
Need the saito pre-injury
Way to pitch a fit and stay in good with the umpires Yunel. You will never get a break acting up all the time.
Saito’s gonna have a good outing here. Not 1-2-3, but a scoreless inning nonetheless.
McFann: I got a look at the arm while he was over at 1st…………yowza, tha’st one ugly bruise. He was so lucky on the previous pitch, that one came mighty close.
Oh no, is Kawakami really on the mound tonight?
ya think Saito will hit someone? why, heck no..
Tomas I think Mac needs to get two days off with all the beating he is gotten lately
That’s not a bad idea…since Ross is getting that shot after the game, he should be feeling better on Friday.
Please, just trade Escobar. I’ll gladly endure Infante’s slightly inferior fielding (and superior hitting) in exchange for never having to see his pouty face in a Braves uniform again.
ol’ yuni isn’t the same as last year.
June 30th, 20109:44 pm
Nevermind my ignorant question. I didn’t see the name.
As much as I love MattE, I’m not sure I want to see him behind the plate right now…
June 30th, 20109:45 pm
I sure hope not, McFann, especially since he got hit on that forearm the other day.
Nice K of Zimmerman right there
I’m bored. Anybody think the Braves have a chance at signing LeBron? He looks like he could hit.
June 30th, 20109:47 pm
hey all..I have been lurking on the site all day..not saying much..are the mets losing?? Haven’t seen the score yet..and too lazy to check the scoreboard..
