Interesting, those folks built a lot of infrastructure that developed the Western economy.
Transylvania Co. Fan – it was just whimsical humor…same is true in America when they were building the railroads…
July 2nd, 201012:50 pm
Crazy – yup! Seems he was making up for missing yesterday! Or had nothing to say!

You won’t find me in Rector, That location is in the Middle of the Sticks!
.582, agree all you want. But I didn’t type it. The douchebag is back. DOB and I have had differences over music many times in the past, but my question to him was a simple, honest question that was asked in a polite manner.
I would hope by now, he realizes that I wouldn’t start a music “holy” war with him ever again. NOT going to happen.
DOB, obviously by my response to .582, that 12:31 response wasn’t me. Hope you figured that out. If not, oh well.
Have a happy 4th everybody. Heading out of town for the weekend for a gig.
Mini-N8, go puck yourself buddy. Hopefully somebody shoves bottle rockets up your…. aww.. never mind.

richbrave Wasn’t [Ross] the first signing after the end of the 2007 season?
Actually, they signed him after the 2008 season…but even still, great pickup. Hope they keep him around a long time.
jeffrey d I played 18 holes of putt putt yesterday and when it was over I was sweating enough to open a small waterpark.
DOB, forgot to mention. Yeah. I’m aware it’s not Mike Mussina. LOL. That was funny though. I guess I was too young to know what the general public (male vareity) thought of L&M. My parents dug them and I dig em’ because it reminds me of listening to music with my parents.
So, sorry to compare them to Mariah.
Yeah, that’s pretty crappy posting under someone else’s moniker.
July 2nd, 201012:58 pm
Tomahawkin – My wife leaves for Paragould tomorrow to see her grandpa (he lives in Harrisburg but is staying near Rector at his trailer).
You won’t find me in Rector, That location is in the Middle of the Sticks
Really? Never been to the Rector Labor Day Parade? Can totally picture you bumping to some beastie boys or something as the tractors come through!
July 2nd, 20101:01 pm
Well, how was I supposed to know it wasn’t you? Whatever, I don’t GAF. I’ll avoid any and all music wars as I actually WORK in the industry and have better things to do with my “music time.”
Hey Nova Scotia, way to get your facts right. Impressive
DOB or CR: Any comments from Wren or anybody concerning the impact it has on the “trade market” when a GM for a losing club is fired right at the beginning of the trade season? I was wondering if it makes things difficult or not.

I’m bothered my blogging skills aren’t up to your standards. I’ll try to do better in the future.

July 2nd, 20101:38 pm
Ease: It worries me
July 2nd, 20101:39 pm
Did Tomahawkin just say he was going to creep on Ease’s wife? Bold.
July 2nd, 20101:43 pm
NSS – ah, the nervous BABIP…guess he should clean that up too…
July 2nd, 20101:45 pm
.Don, What you said about KK is factually incorrect. He won 1 game, and the Braves certainly did not lose every time he started (as you stated). You also said that “anyone” on the AAA roster would have performed better than KK. Jo Jo Reyes is on that team – how did he do with Atlanta the past couple of years? Last year he had an 0-2 record in 6 games (5 starts) with a 7.00 ERA in the majors. This year he is 1-5 with a 6.38 ERA with Gwinnett, and 0-0 with a 24.30 with Atlanta. KK is 1-9 with a 4.48 ERA this year with Atlanta. Thus, the statistics clearly show that KK has outperformed Reyes in the majors and minors. Next time you make these assertions be sure to check the facts. This time you were factually incorrect.
July 2nd, 20101:46 pm
Could you envision Esco sliding over to 3rd, Salcido at short and Prado a second? That could be a pretty sweet infield. Especially if Yunel can rediscover his power stroke. Plug Freeman in at first and they could be set for a while.
Did Tomahawkin just say he was going to creep on Ease’s wife? Bold.
Bold? Don’t think so…might have to put out the “shoot on site” call to her country folk!
July 2nd, 20101:48 pm
July 2nd, 20101:50 pm
“shoot on site” call? Sounds too quick and painless for true country folk.
July 2nd, 20101:51 pm
Fred – I’ve told you people not to confuse .Don with the facts.
Rob from SC
Do you think the Braves will trade Kimbrel. I hope not. He and Venters can anchor the pen for years
Nick 'n Nash
July 2nd, 20101:54 pm
What time will the Braves be out signing autographs for tomorrows game (4:10)? This is my first trip to turner field after being a braves fan up north, and only seeing them in Philly.
Thanks in advance!
July 2nd, 20101:55 pm

July 2nd, 20101:59 pm
Hey I just got an email from the Rays guy who is carrying our MFIKY torch. He emailed me some questions he wants to use for a story on his blog – busy right now but will get back with him later on. Anyway, look at MFIKY doing an exorcism on the Rays bats after they lost to Boston the other day.
Since then, of course, the Rays have started scoring runs again. They’re too afraid not to, I would imagine.
Rob- i think kimbrel and venters are almost untouchable to the sense that wagner is retiring and saito will be gone. with moylan being inconsistant as of late, kimbrel might be our closer and venters as the set up man. with wags gone, that frees up almost $7 million, which is the good news. i believe with wags, glaus and saito gone. the braves will be looking for a big bat or two in the offseason.
lol @ .Don still dodging issue. What a maroon.
July 2nd, 20102:00 pm
Nick ‘n Nash, where you gonna be sitting tomorrow? I’ll be at that game.
Nick – the braves don’t always sign, but if they do it will be after their BP, which is in progress when the gate opens (2 or 2.5 hours before game time? – I can never remember) so…get there early and whatever you do, don’t promise your kid they’ll get an autograph because they don’t always sign.
July 2nd, 20102:04 pm
Nick ‘n Nash, I live in ATL and plan to attend next Tuesday’s game in Philly. How bad is the traffic before/after games? How is the new stadium? Are there places to eat in the area if I arrive early? I will be driving up from Baltimore (where we will be visiting friends) for the game and I am debating getting a hotel room by the stadium versus driving back to Baltimore that night. Thanks!
July 2nd, 20102:05 pm
RHR, that’s awesome. Did the MFIKY moniker get picked up down there? I really should ask some of my Florida friends who are big Rays fans.
July 2nd, 20102:09 pm
Hey, Arkansas peeps…Anyone live near Paragould or Rector?
Nah, I’m way down south near the Louisiana border. Oil field trash…that’s me.
July 2nd, 20102:11 pm
sound of crickets chirping here. it got really quiet all of a sudden.
this is just a question:
If you are Frank Wren – do you call Boston and see how desparate they are for a catcher and see what we can get with a package involving David Ross?
myself, I hope Ross stays a Brave and retires a Brave. He is perfect for his role but with all Boston’s injuries, they have to be getting at least a little desparate
July 2nd, 20102:14 pm
Hillbilly…What team would you say Arkansas supports? is it Braves country? rangers? Cardinals?
July 2nd, 20102:15 pm
Co-Sign on RHR’s Post
You have to get near the RF foul line early because there will be crowds there…
July 2nd, 20102:16 pm
bravesgrl4lifeeeeee – i’ll be around section 105-106 i think…not sure what seats though.
Arkansas is Bandwagon Cardinal Fan Country, with braves fans being in the minority since the Braves aren’t on TBS no more
July 2nd, 20102:18 pm
brian, Who are we going to us as a backup catcher? Sammons? That won’t be good for us if McC goes down. I would have said MAC but that was McBanned a few days ago!
July 2nd, 20102:19 pm
Not Sure about S. Arkansas but N. Arkansas is bandwagon Cardinal Country, especially since they won the WS in 2006…I was in College out there back then and it was Sickening!
July 2nd, 20102:20 pm
Fred- Nick ‘n Nash, I live in ATL and plan to attend next Tuesday’s game in Philly. How bad is the traffic before/after games? How is the new stadium? Are there places to eat in the area if I arrive early? I will be driving up from Baltimore (where we will be visiting friends) for the game and I am debating getting a hotel room by the stadium versus driving back to Baltimore that night. Thanks!
Well, tuesday night shouldn’t be too bad. The weekend games are horrific (traffic wise). The stadium is nice there. They have a lot of different food vendors out in CF near the bullpen. It was cool, I met Moylan there once (braves bullpen on the top level). As for restaurants outside the stadium, good luck. The stadium isn’t real close to the downtown area. There are a few hotels off the interstate nearby the stadium.
Good luck, and have fun at the game. Perhaps you’ll tick off a bunch of Phillies fans like I always loved to.
I’ll bet Jan Itor is just upset because the Jonas Brothers concert scheduled for Atlanta has been canceled.
I knew something was wrong.
July 2nd, 20102:25 pm
Yeah, most of South Arkansas is Cardinal country with a few Cubs, Braves, and Yankees fans, and Red Sox Bandwagoners scattered throughout. Very few Rangers fans that I’ve seen.
July 2nd, 20102:26 pm
And those Cardinal fans draw their “10 WS titles” like a pistol in a gunfight.
July 2nd, 20102:29 pm
Nick n Nash – it doesn’t matter where you sit, I’ve had a great time at all the Braves games I’ve went to, whether it’s right by the dugout, or in the nosebleeds. Seeing the Braves play at Turner is an incredible experience, and I hope you have a great time!
that would be miserable living amongst cardinal fans like that!
Im in a similar situation living in North Dakota…this is HUGE Twins Territory…and they ALWAYS bring up 1991
July 2nd, 20102:33 pm
And T-Hawkin, You want to know about sickening? You should have seen this state when Razorback star third baseman, Zack Cox, slipped in the draft and got picked up by the Cardinals. A little part of me died that day, as I watched grown men act like 12-year-old girls at a New Kids On The Block concert.
July 2nd, 20102:36 pm
I can only imagine what torture that must be. ‘91 was painful to me.
July 2nd, 20102:37 pm
I live in MSP… When they bring up 91, I just bring up Gary Anderson’s missed FG.
Gil In Mechanicsville
July 2nd, 20102:38 pm
Yo ya’ll… My peeps on the B&S have concurred and we all suggest that Booby move Esco to the 2 hole Until J-Hey can return. Carroll, it’s your job to make that subtle suggestion to Bobby so he will think it to be his idea.
July 2nd, 20102:40 pm
Hey Hillbilly, how did that vacation pan out?
July 2nd, 20102:42 pm
Nick & Nash, anything in that level is great. But 105 is on one side of home plate and 106 on the other. The way TF is laid out is even aisles on one side and odd on the other. The odd side is the home side. But I will co-sign on Jeffrey d’s comment, I’ve never had a bad seat anywhere at Turner Field.
July 2nd, 20102:43 pm
Thanks! I guess ESPN isn’t quite as dumb as everyone thinks it is.
It’ll be int’resting to see the results on Sunday.
July 2nd, 20102:44 pm
Gil…Cancelled. Going to stay in-state and do a little camping. Got most of my money back, so it didn’t turn out too bad.
RHR… That was great, do you think the Braves could send him Nate to say a few curses</strike words over. Could even throw him on the pile…
July 2nd, 20102:46 pm
CraZyTRaDeMaN I would have said MAC but that was McBanned a few days ago!
Yeah, still not sure what that was all about…
Hillbilly, If you ever get the chance, I can recommend a great state park on the GA/SC border called Hickory Knob.
July 2nd, 20102:48 pm
They have fishing, skeet, archery and a super nice golf course. I think horse back riding is availible across the road. Very nice place and reasonable.
July 2nd, 20102:49 pm
Nick ‘n Nash, Thanks for the information about the game in Philly. I have a fairly restricted diet for medical reasons so I might just pick up a sub before the game since there aren’t many retaurants by the stadium. Enjoy the game at the Ted!
Gil, when the kids get a little older and more tolerable in the car, I plan on heading back to Georgia for a couple of games. I’ll keep that place in mind.
July 2nd, 20102:53 pm
Thanks Fred! Enjoy the game there!
July 2nd, 20102:54 pm
BravesGrl: Yea i’m sure it’ll be fun. I was thinking about doing the fan batting practice thing, but $70 is kinda pricey, esp since you can’t get their john hancock down there.
July 2nd, 20103:00 pm
I’d agree with that Nick/Nash. I’m going to try to get there early enough to watch BP and hope to get some autographs. My seat is really just one level up from the dugout and about one aisle over. Close enough that during the game, I can see which players and coaches are standing at the top of the dugout watching the game.
July 2nd, 20103:02 pm
Good seats. Do they normally stand near the right side of the Braves dug-out if/when they sign autographs?
July 2nd, 20103:05 pm
I like to sit more on the visitors’ side…that way you cann see inside the Braves dugout. If the game gets a little boring, you cann just spy on the guys who aren’t playing…
I think to the right (away from home plate), this will be the first time I’ve gone down. There’s usually a pretty good crowd down there, and they make an announcement about 1/2 an hour before game time to ask fans to return to their seats.
July 2nd, 20103:06 pm
McFann, I’ve never thought of it that way, but that’s a good idea. I might have to try that next time I’ll be sure to have my binoculars, too
July 2nd, 20103:08 pm
I wonder how long the Braves will play Salcedo at shortstop. Everything I’ve heard makes me think he is destined to end up at third base. Very difficult to find shortstop prospects that will actually stick there and be at least major league average there. That’s why this “trade Yunel” talk is curious. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if they dealt him this offseason. I’d just expect them to get quite a bit, given the dearth at the position throughout the league.
July 2nd, 20103:10 pm
lol Gil, may not be a bad idea!
July 2nd, 20103:12 pm
Only because his name has come up on the almighty MLBTR.com here’s the ridiculous… crazy effen trade ….can’t believe it hasn’t been brought up yet trade of the day.
Derek Lowe for Alfonso Soriano : Derek Lowe is owed 15 million in 2011 and 15 million in 2012. Alfonso Soriano is owed 18 million in 2011 and 18million in 2012. The problem would be the 18 million owed in 2013 and 18 million in 2014 to Soriano. He would be 37 in 2013 and 38 in 2014!! Damn shame his contract isn’t 2 years shorter. Right?
this was not meant to be a serious post
July 2nd, 20103:14 pm
July 2nd, 20103:15 pm
Oh yeah, you’ve gota bring binoculars!
We’ve been to several games the past couple years when the backup catcher played, so, ya know, I eyed the dugout pretty much 60% of the time. I like to see how long it takes for BMac to talk someone’s ear off and have to find someone else to sit with. He doesn’t sit still a whole lot…although sometimes he’ll just be sitting down in the entrance to the dugout (opposite from the one Bobby stands in while the players are batting) and watch the game.
July 2nd, 20103:39 pm
Steve, say what you want about me – but don’t knock the Jonas brothers.
