Braves raise $350,000 for charity

The Braves inaugural alumni weekend raised approximately $350,000 to benefit the Atlanta Braves Foundation, the team announced.

Several events were held last weekend, including a Diamond Gala, alumni softball game, fan meet-and-greet and a golf outing.

Some of the Braves alumni participating were Dale Murphy, Phil Niekro, Sid Bream, Otis Nixon, Javy Lopez, Ron Gant, Brian Jordan, Charlie Leibrandt, Greg McMichael, Pete Smith and Zane Smith.

Proceeds from the events will benefit several metro-Atlanta charitable organizations through the Braves Foundation’s Grants Program.

Great job, Braves! We live in a messed up world, but if we all do a better job loving our neighbor, it will be a better place!

PS “Ted Turner” real classy- really.

Did you catch the on-air interview with Steve Avery during the game? He looked exactly like he did when he was pitching for us! Everyone else appeared to age, but not Steve! It was good to see him and to know he is doing well.
