If you people sincerely believe that I “hate” the Braves or dislike Chipper Jones because of smart ass, sarcastic comments then I can’t help you.

Well, hell, Why not at least try?

Have I said anything at any point today along the lines of “Chipper should retire”? No would be the answer. Have other people? Yes.

Does that mean that they hate Chipper or think his career has been anything other than Hall of Fame worthy? Or are they just commenting on his declining abilities in his advanced age?

The guy hits a game winning homerun. It was dramatic. It was unexpected. Don’t act like you saw it coming. I obviously didn’t. I mean, I did say he would hit a fly ball so do with that what you will.

I realize he has an 8 or 9 game hitting streak but he hasn’t exactly been clutch these days. It’s to be expected, he’s 38. I obviously wanted him to get a hit but sadly I figured he’d probably just get under one like he’s been doing all too often these days. Well, too often for somebody batting third.

And how this not being facetious?

“I said fly ball. They moved the fence in.”

Chipper’s HR was way out, bro.

No way. Was it?

I’m truly sorry for saying the guy made a mistake. Please forgive me. Obviously he would probably want to take it back but that doesn’t mean Chipper didn’t earn it.

And what if he did make an out? Like people wouldn’t say something about it. Give me a break.

I’ll be sure not to hold any of these comments against you guys in the future. I guess you’re just reacting to the moment. I take it does not reflect your overall feelings about Bobby Cox, Peter Moylan, etc.

Thats baseball folks, he owed us a strike from earlier in the inning were Saito threw one right down the plate and I appreciate him giving it right there. I missed most of the game but apparently others said he had called that pitch before, not just that at bat so i’ll take it. A win is a win, no matter how ugly or wrong the umps may be, the calls, outside of homeruns, stand.

This one goes into a very large category called “Braves wins despite the ineptitude of Bobby Cox.” Saito is barely off the DL, and Cox insists on making the guy pitch his arm off, when he clearly doesn’t have it. And thank you Umpire Cederstrom for throwing this one the Braves’ way. Damon should send this videotape to the league office.

Dave,

Why did Wagner not pitch the 9th inning?
He had Monday off…didn’t pitch Tues,Wed, or Thursday either.
So in essence..4 days off.

He didn’t extend himself last night. Threw very few pitches and dominated. What the heck is going on not using him?

abwright

June 26th, 2010
7:46 pm

Let me repeat … the pitch looked like a ball to me when I saw it live.

However, on replay, the ball had plenty of the plate for some of its trajectory and ended up well outside. I haven’t seen a replay that showed where in the trajectory it left the plate, but the pitch wasn’t as far off the plate as its final position would indicate.

Still think it was a ball, but I can see how Moylan got the call as well.

Damon and the Tigers should be pissed.

After all his terrible luck this season, Kawakami and the Braves get a big break.

I’m a happy camper.

Here’s the deal. Anytime ANYTHING doesn’t work out, you and a bunch of people like you start going apesh*t about Bobby. You need to understand that the right move in baseball doesn’t always work out. You need to understand that a decision that may not seem the best in the short-term could be the best decision for the long-term. You need to understand that a MLB manager is using loads of information to make decisions — information that you are not privy to. You need to understand that a guy with 50 years of experience in major league baseball (compared to your how many years?) has more baseball intelligence and insight than you could ever dream of having. You need to understand that for you to be right about Bobby, 99% of the pro baseball world would have to be wrong about Bobby.

I was perfectly comfortable watching the ninth, because if they lost, it just would have been +1 in the loss column for this team. Nothing to panic about. They are going to lose some more games this season, you know?

Further, if the Braves lost, it would not have been Bobby’s fault. He used three relievers in the 9th and none of them did all that well. Moylan got a break on strike three, so he will look stellar in the box score, though.
