Just wanted to make a few comments on the Detroit should have been perfect game thing. I have a lot of respect for the way everybody involved handled the situation. Jim Joyce being a man and giving a sincere apology, Gallaraga being a man and accepting the apology, Jim Leyland’s comments were very professional, and the Detroit fans reaction when Joyce ran on the field the following day all showed complete class. Jim Joyce completely understood he blew the call and was sincerely sorry. This is not a Tiger Woods “mistake” or an ARod “mistake” where the guys knew what they were doing was wrong. This was an honest mistake and Joyce gave an honest apology. You could tell be his emotions that he understood the magnitude of missing that call and would doing anything to correct it if he could. To me he appears to be a class act and the entire Tigers organization handled the situation very classy in my opinion.

by the way that should be “you can tell BY his emotions” and “would DO anything”

Greinke has had as rough year getting help from his teammates, much like KK. This year Gerinke has left the game with the lead 5 times, and only won one. He has also recieved three or fewer runs in run support in 7 starts. Beginning to ge on the bandwagon that says W-L record for pitchers is almost irrelevant.

DOB And every time, without fail, that he’s struggled for more than a few games this season, he’s come back with a surge usually two or three times as long as the mini “slump.”

Yeah. Wish a lot more of our players were the same way this year……

As with everything else about the Royals, Joe Poz had a piece on that detailing how bad his support has been.Considering he wrote this at the end of April (and its still valid) and that the streak started last year, KK might actually thanks his stars that he isnt Greinke.

Then, as a joke, the Royals thought they might use Horacio Ramirez as a reliever. No, wait, they weren’t joking. Cleveland won 8-3

That made me laugh. And then a flash back of KC on the Mariners blog attempting to argue HoRam was a good trade for Soriano…. “If you ignore all his injuries and bad starts, he has some great numbers.”

June 11, 2009: Again, a bland, good start for Greinke — 7 1/3 innings, three runs. The Royals were ahead 3-1 when he left, though he did leave two men on. Then the Royals botched a double play grounder, Joakim Soria could not get Jhonny Peralta out (for shame) and Cleveland won 4-3 in the 10th inning*.

*Pretty typical Royals finish — Kyle Farnsworth enters, Mark DeRosa singles, Victor Martinez singles, Shin-Soo Choo singles, ball hits seagull, Royals lose, cue Three Stooges music

TnPaul,

Its hilarious isnt it? Everything I’ve read about the Royals is quite laughable for a professional franchise. And I dont think Poz has some special axe to grind with them either. There was this piece last year where he wrote about the irresponsible handling of their pitchers .It seems quite clear why they continue to lose year after year and quite glad we have a good management and Bobby. (I am going to be in serious trouble for saying this, I know.)

SAN DIEGO — Carlos Beltran’s return to the Mets could involve moving from center field on a part-time basis.

In saying yesterday that Beltran is on a “nice track” in his rehab from arthroscopic knee surgery and could soon begin playing rehab games, manager Jerry Manuel indicated it’s possible the organization will approach Beltran about occasionally playing right field to save the wear and tear on his knees.

Thanks. Looks like his hammy, huh? I was hoping it was a cramp. That could be disastrous for us if he misses significant time. In my opinion, he has been our best reliever. We have been so good at closing close games, I’d hate to start giving a few away because we have to shuffle the set up situation. And I don’t always feel comfy when Bobby has to start playing chess with the pen.

If KK can somehow eek out a win tonight, we have Hanson and Huddy going in games 3 and 4. I like the odds of AT LEAST a split. I’ll take it. Honestly, if we came back home from even a 5-6 road trip, I’d still feel encouraged.

The bullpen needs some fresh arms. The Braves have like 20 straight games in a row, the next 9 on the road, and they just lost Saito to a hammy problem. Billy has had a lot of work lately with all this winning and close games. No confidence whatsoever in Chavez, or Christian Martinez(if he is not gonna play why bother calling him up). Well if Nate the great doesn’t start swinging the bat soon……..something has to be done about it.

This hot streak will end sooner or later (hopefully later) and the Braves won’t be able to afford his anemic .179 BA. Nor that of Matt Diaz at .178.

My two cents on how to improve the overall quality of the Braves outfield: Scott Podsednik.

Coach: Matty couldn’t hit because he had a piece of shattered bat in his thumb – an infected thumb full of puss and rot. When Matty comes back fully healed, he will rake once again.

Sadly, Hinske cannot play CF, and Bobby does not have a whole lotta faith in Melky’s ability to patrol CF (or does he have a Greg Norton-sized man-crush for McLouth?).

However, we do not need to trade for Scott Podsednik and, more importantly, we do NOT need to get rid of our young minor league talent.

A win tonight would be great but with KK on the hill I don’t think it is possible. Why? His record. He wasn’t so hot last year either, remember? The crazed statements about how good he has pitched lately have no merit. Wins and losses are what counts in the standings. Cox, Jones, KK, and McLouth disappearing into the sunset would be a win win situation for the club.
