Dare I say Heyward in the 3-spot tonight with Infante hitting second. I might make it through the first 3 innings before I fall asleep. I can’t hang past 11:00 anymore, very sad.
June 3rd, 20105:58 pm
I hate the left coast trips. I used to hang out late and watch those trips back when Murphy and Niekro and Torre were surprising the National League and actually contending. I survived on a couple hours sleep and worked the next day.
Now, I’m old. I just can’t hang that late. I’ll watch a couple of innings then I’m out!
Sucks getting old when your team is on the West coast.

It must be October the way you homers are patting yourselves on the back, I guess I missed June thru September. We will see if this team can overcome Chipper, KK, McOut and their $28 Million annual payroll up a wild hogs arzz. I for one seriously doubt it. It is just a May blip on the radar, you can put lipstick on a pig but …….
June 3rd, 20106:00 pm
wow….almost the same post as dpelfrey.
I can relate.

Heyward is about to explode

June 3rd, 20106:02 pm
T is for Texas I have made a personal decision to view Mac’s poor start with RISP as his way of banking run producing hits for the end of the season–when we are in a race for the postseason.
Hey, I’d be incredibly cool with that!!! I’ve actually thought of that, like, “Well, if he’ll wind up tearing it up late in the year and then in playoffs, I’ll be ‘happy’ to watch him struggle now!”
We’ll just think of it this way for now, and we’ll feel a lot better! Good call…
Mixxo Oh no Hon, not at all….we’re good you & I. ♥
HOW SAD ABOUT THE BABIES!! Oh no…that just breaks my heart! I’m so sorry…
June 3rd, 20106:04 pm
DOB – have you listened to a band called Peter Wolf Crier? Think they would be up your alley. They sound a bit like M. Ward at times – kind of ragged and understated, but always striking.
June 3rd, 20106:06 pm
McFann ;Ô; ;Ô;,,,,,,,,,,you do attract all KINDS of “fans” on here, doncha? You know who I mean!
June 3rd, 20106:08 pm
Just Pat You know who I mean!
Yeah, I think I do……
June 3rd, 20106:09 pm
dpelfrey & Former Doubter
When I woke up this morning at 3:30 AM. the only thing I could think about was…..I CAN’T get up now or I’ll NEVER stay awake for the Braves game tonight! Luckily, after tossing and turning for about an hour, I fell back asleep until almost *:00 AM, so……have HOPES of making it!
June 3rd, 20106:11 pm
I got my ‘eeeeee’s on!!
June 3rd, 20106:19 pm
What’s the matter, 8-game winning streak doesn’t fit your template?
Seriously?? Is there really about four hours left till game time?? Ugh…
June 3rd, 20106:21 pm
sounds like they might split the series
June 3rd, 20106:22 pm
Seriously?? Is there really about four hours left till game time?? Ugh…
I know, right?? I second your ‘Ugh’…
June 3rd, 20106:23 pm
What are y’all doing to kill time before the game?
I’m going crazy.
June 3rd, 20106:25 pm
Yeah…no offense to those Braves fans who live out there, but I hate it when they’re out West.
Least I have these new “Mister Ed” episodes to watch while I wait…
See my 6:25!
June 3rd, 20106:26 pm
I’m staring at the clock…watching the minutes s l o w l y dragging by! *Sigh* I hate west coast games!!
Movie link to braves-dodgers identical records… My Cousin Vinny… the attorney says IIIIIII-dent-ical and holds his hands up parallel to each other for ephasis when asking the expert witness about the tire tracks on the road coming from the same car as the two kids were driving… that came to mind this afternoon after reading your Tweet on the teams records.. pretty cool and good, funny movie, especially the TV version where they cut out all the cussing (which I found seriously distracting and detracting.)
June 3rd, 20106:27 pm
McFann ;Ô; ;Ô;
I see, I seeeee!
Lineup per TnBrian:
Of course, I’d like to see Glaus the everyday cleanup guy, but …
June 3rd, 20106:28 pm
Oh yeah…I’m getting close to being done with loading disc 1 onto iTunes. Then after dinner it’s onto my iPod and time to watch!
June 3rd, 20106:29 pm
I grew up out west and I must say if you are a Sports fan that is the place to live. Baseball games can start as early as 10 am and last until 11pm some days. During football season games start at 10 am and we could watch the super bowl and still go to bed at a reasonable time. Everytime my Braves go out west or the NBA season starts (clipper Fan) I get that longing to move home. (then I recall that my friends pay the same for their studio apts that I pay for my 4 bedroom home)
June 3rd, 20106:30 pm
Of COURSE Kawakami draws Kershaw in this series.
Kershaw is 4-1 with a 1.08 ERA and .174 opponents’ average in his past five starts, and struck out 10 in seven shutout innings (two hits, one walk) in his only start against the Braves on Aug. 8, 2009.
June 3rd, 20106:31 pm
I love west coast games now. I get to watch them from start to finish after work. When the Braves are in the east, I usually only get the last few innings.
June 3rd, 20106:33 pm
Bravos lineup: 1. Prado 2B, 2. Infante 3B, 3. Heyward RF, 4. McCann C, 5. Glaus, 1B, 6. Hinske LF, 7. Escobar SS, 8. McLouth CF, 9. Medlen P
then I recall that my friends pay the same for their studio apts that I pay for my 4 bedroom home

I was getting all set to reply with a happy comment until I saw that and almost started crying (I’m currently looking for a new place to live. It’s…not pretty)
Just sitting here on my computer at the office while hubby is finishing one of his “projects” and waiting to go home to WAIT for the game to start tonight. I really HATE West coast games.
June 3rd, 20106:34 pm
Oh well, KK gets $7.3M a season to dry his tears for his bad luck this year.
Brian from SC
June 3rd, 20106:35 pm
I hate west coast games. I’m incredibly bored.
And I was right on with the lineup anyways. Not like you need to be a rocket scientist, but whatever.
June 3rd, 20106:36 pm
DOB, I used to live in Memphis, and I assume you’ve made your way through town and tried some of the world famous BBQ. If so, which is your favorite, Barbeque Shop, Rendezvous, Corky’s? Maybe one I didn’t mention. Have you ever eaten at Gus’s Fried Chicken Shack? I always have a tough time deciding which to go to when I’m back in town. I love the ribs at Rendezvous and BBQ Shop, but nothing beats a Corky’s sammy with slaw. Your thoughts…
Infante batting in front of Heyward is interesting…could get him some pitches. Hope Chipper gets back soon…he’s getting there…wherever there is going to end up being. My guess….270/17HR/90 RBI.
June 3rd, 20106:37 pm
Brian from SC, if you lived anywhere near where I did in SC than I can see where the boredom comes from. We used to sit out in the front yard looking for UFO’s. That’s how bored we were.
June 3rd, 20106:38 pm
Kawakami has been getting the shaft lately. Score some effin runs off Kershaw. I mean at least 10 so there is no way he can lose. We still believe in you, Kenshin.
MZ: today, the Smoothie at an Asian healthy-type place in my hotel. I asked her to put peanut butter in a strawberry and banana smoothie, and she put waaay too much and didn’t make the thing cold enough. It was lame. It’s hard to mess up a smoothie, but she did.
Now, to the clubhouse.
dpelfrey and TnBrian
Way to go on the lineup!!!!!! Rocket scientist or not……it’s always an “adventure”.
June 3rd, 20106:40 pm
DOB, I used to live in Memphis and was wondering if you ever had any of the BBQ from Barbeque Shop, Rendezvous, or Corky’s? If so, which is your favorite? I’m a big fan of ribs from Rendezvous and BBQ Shop, but nothing beats a BBQ sammy from Corky’s with slaw on it. Sorry if I double posted on this subject. I didn’t see the first one post.
June 3rd, 20106:41 pm
Castrologist, in your photos there I noticed a little boy, looks about 5 or 6, holding a sign with the word “sucks” in it. No surprise a Philly fan allows their child to bring signs like that to a game. Real classy.
Tomorrow will be my final Braves game at Dodger Stadium, as I am packing it up out here next month and heading back east to my home, on the coast that has always better suited my temperament (but didn’t have the film industry).
DOB, you’re probably thinking, “Oh, but the weather, the glamour, the girls, the sunset strip…” It gets old after about 3 years. That Hollyowood sign you’re admiring through the smog used to symbolize a real triumph of the spirit, a monumental reminder that you weren’t in Kansas anymore–now, it peers down sarcastically at all those who have come out here and lost their youth trying to “make it”
Anyway, my point to all this self-pity is: the Braves are all I have left. Win the whole thing, you bastards!
That’s whatcha get for trying to go “healthy”!
June 3rd, 20106:43 pm
If she reads this, I’d say your next smoothie is gonna be a sneezer
June 3rd, 20106:44 pm
West coast games suck. Especially on weeknights. (No offense, cab)
June 3rd, 20106:45 pm
Don’t think DOB is enthralled by “the weather, the glamour, the girls or the sunset strip” thingy at all. He’s a BASEBALL man!
June 3rd, 20106:46 pm
Dang right they suck. Offense, CAB
Where’s the extra E’s, Soph?
I’m so bored I’m watching the BP oil feed. We should just ask the Russians to nuke it. I heard it would actually work.
June 3rd, 20106:47 pm
Tonights Line-up gets me excited because I love seeing J-Hey hit 3rd.
Yeah….and what is this with the Sat. game when they COULD give us East coasters a break???
What hotel you at? I’m over at the Vice Roy.
June 3rd, 20106:48 pm
Ah, good catch jeffrey. I’m on another computer so it had my e-less name in there. Fixed!
I thought you just gave up
June 3rd, 20106:49 pm
it appears the Pac-10, which has its meetings in San Francisco starting this weekend, is prepared to make a bold move and invite Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado to join its league, according to multiple sources close to the situation
By the way O’Brien, grab some In and Out. I just ate 3 double doubles.
June 3rd, 20106:50 pm
Vice Roy…stalking is not cool.
This game is nothing compared to the one down the freeway.
I hope the Braves win something to the tune of 11-9 tonight. (I have so many players from this game on my fantasy team; McCann and Glaus for the Braves, Furcal, Kemp, and Carroll for the Dodgers.)
But tomorrow I’ll root for a low-scoring Braves win; Got Kershaw in fantasy as well, but cheering for Kenshin takes priority.
Yeah, that would make absolutely ZERO sense. USC would explode!
Nope, sticking with it. Remember, if he gets a double today, you have to add some e’s in there.
June 3rd, 20106:51 pm
Just Pat –
True, but he has always seemed quite enchanted by movies. I figured, his being at the epicenter might be exciting.
I think, on my way back, I am going to drive southward and through Atlanta before hitting New York. I have yet to see a game at Turner Field. Yup, I just made up my mind. I’m doing it.
If Meds can pitch anything like he did last August against these Dodgers, he’s going to kick some @$$.
“Vice Roy…stalking is not cool.”
Not stalking, just curious. Besides, I guarantee my hotel is better than his. Unless he’s at Shutter’s….
June 3rd, 20106:52 pm
I didn’t say double, I said extra base hit
What? Is the NBA season still going?
blah blah blah, blah ba-blah blah You should really try watching a game at 4:00 some time…or tivoing a game that starts at 4:00 because you are still at work and it will take an hour to get home…then you can complain about the less then 20 games the Braves play out here every year
June 3rd, 20106:53 pm
I hope this conference realignment thing happens. These super-conferences would make some spectacular matchups every year
Pete* — as a clipper fan let me say GO CELTICS. I am so tired of seeing those laker banners at my home games!
The best hotel here in LA is The New London right off of Sunset. Beautiful. Makes the W look like a Best Western.
Your hotel may be better but DOB is hanging in the Braves clubhouse right now. So there.
I’m in the FL Panhandle, work at a seafood restaurant, and if I thought a nuke would keep the oil from us, welllllll……..I MIGHT consider it……BUT…….gotta wonder about what THAT would do to all those oysters, shrimp, etc., ya know??????
June 3rd, 20106:54 pm
Thanks for the lineup!
Oh yeah, you should see the women hanging out here at the pool…..
CAB – it’s going to end at 1:00 AM here! And I wouldn’t be too upset about having to watch games at 4….with my early grandpa bedtime most nights, I miss the ends of a lot of games.
“Makes the W look like a Best Western.”
Ever been to the Vice Roy or Shutters?
June 3rd, 20106:55 pm
“what happens on the board if the dodgers sweepus?” – nolie
“awwwwright GRINDERMAN come on” – oh nolie, ye of such little faith, take a chance and love em.
June 3rd, 20106:56 pm
Oh, and also, go Celtics. Most of us here in Minnesota still support KG. (The problem wasn’t you, Kevin, it was Minnesota.)
nba finals game 1 tonight
Yeah, I wouldn’t be too happy about a 4pm start on weekdays either. I’d be DVRing every game.
June 3rd, 20106:57 pm
Kawakami could be getting Rodrigo López against Arizona and then James Shields against the Rays.
*Price, Wade Davis, and then Shields looks to be the Tampa starters against the Braves. Hanson vs. Price could be the game 1 matchup
Just Pat…I here you. I am planning to bring the family down to PC Beach in a few weeks. It is so tough to watch that oil just billowing out like that…I just can’t believe it has taken this long. I have no idea what effect a nuke would have…but I seriously did hear this dude on TV talking about how the Russians have used nukes to fix some similiar leaks off their shore…that the nuke melts enough of the earth that it seals the well.
Of course, this would also probably turn some fish into Godzilla, and then a couple of our pitchers would freak out.
Anyways, let’s hope they make some progress with this latest containment dome.
June 3rd, 20106:58 pm
before I started working from home I missed (or had to watch on fast forward) the start of every weekday game…
Wait, but you work from home, cab!
June 3rd, 20106:59 pm
Can someone explain to me why the old fogies say that instant replay would take away the human element of the game? I never got that….if robots replaced the players and the strike zone was replaced with some sort of system of lasers, then the human element would be lost. But instant replay?
By all means hit “The Ted”……it’s a good baseball park.
June 3rd, 20107:00 pm
CAB – sounds like you should’ve moved and changed your name to Viningsbravesfan
Ray K., don’t feel bad about leaving the City of Angles. I spent 14 years there trying to make it in the industry. Didn’t get where I wanted to go, but met my wife, had my daughter, and made a lateral move into a related industry where I can use all the skills I learned in film school and working for peanuts. Now I make a great living in a great city and have a pretty great existence. There is life after LA, my friend.
(But I’ll always be an Atlanta boy at heart. )
ViceRoy = David Spade in Tommy Boy.
June 3rd, 20107:01 pm
that’s humor THIN, not my prediction of what will actually happen.
Amoeba Music is the bomb. I went to one when I was visiting San Fran and ended up leaving with 8 great jazz records and an excellent Vida Blue dvd. I was blown away by the store’s stock. Usually you see the standard, generic stuff in music stores these days, but Amoeba Music has it goin’ on. I have to agree with Vice Roy on In N Out Burger as well.
June 3rd, 20107:02 pm
And then the possible Minnesota matchups:
Liriano – Hudson
Blackburn – Lowe
Slowey – Medlen
Liriano and David Price in back-to-back series huh ….
June 3rd, 20107:03 pm
Yeah I feel bad for that pitcher for the Tigers (and the umpire)…I think baseball should introduce a rule where, once, during a series of any length, a manager can toss a red flag out of the dugout for a replay review on plays like that…
you the man – you know i try to get a response from you at any cost.
June 3rd, 20107:05 pm
I do now, but it’s only been the last 2 months or so that I have worked from home
I’d miss the ocean
DcBrave…….not sure what you mean about a “few weeks”, but have my fingers crossed for you and your famiy. Our restaurant owns two shrimp boats and their last trips were very profitable for them but we’re all looking at the prospect of that changing and all of us losing our jobs. It AIN’T pretty down here right now even though, so far…..there’s no oil on our beaches at all.
June 3rd, 20107:06 pm
Pschhh, ocean? You’d have Lake Lanier.
June 3rd, 20107:07 pm
LOL, you guys miss Moon Shot Scott (Baker).
And I’m mad that we miss Kenshin. And that’s not being mean being a Twins fan and saying “KK pitching = instant shutout win for our pitcher”, but I *was* (and still am) planning to wear my KK shirt under my Twins jersey.
Where in the Panhandle are you? I’m in Fort Walton Beach.
And White Water
June 3rd, 20107:08 pm
Well. we HAVE the ocean here in FL, too……..just not sure for how long.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
