DO you believe MEdlen is a 4 because he doesn’t throw harder than 92. His changeup takes care of that. When he masters a thir pitch I can see him as a 2/3

The only guy who really does worry me is Ethier. We just need to keep runners off the base paths when he is up if at all possible. That would be great.

Hey, I been listening on MLB Audio. “My Little Pony” Medlen is a big league pitcher AND hitter, huh!
What a nice start to the game/series. Lets get 3-4 more off their pen, and bring in Venters and O’Flaherty to close it out.

Brave4life – I definitely would, but I am not the one making managerial decisions, luckily. Just my opinion though, however, McLouth ain’t hot and he is unfortunately in the rotation.

So after yesterday’s 14 inning game when they burnt quite a few pitchers, they are into their 3rd today. We keep chipping away and by the 3rd or 4th game, they might just have pitchers “take one for the team”.

Nah, I don’t see his command as good enough to be a 2, Rob. He leaves a few too many FBs over the middle for my liking, but he’s seemed to get away with them so far this season. Not too many, of course, but it’s something I’ve noticed. He’s been very good this year, but keep in mind that exposure has been limited, and I think it’s very hard to expect him to keep this pace up. Plus, his stuff isn’t overpowering and I think he’ll have trouble pitching past the 6th inning on a regular basis if he’s a member of the rotation because you see a lot of guys put tough ABs on him and force him to throw some pitches. Not tonight, of course, but in past games. Nitpicky, I know, but it’s something. Maybe he’s a 3. Who knows? He’s really valuable to the team, that’s for sure.
I would like to see him throw his curve more.

Well, his curve looked a lot sharper to me last year than it does this year. I’m not sure why he’s not throwing it more. When I saw him at Pittsburgh he was mostly FB/CH and the few curves he threw weren’t overly impressive. If he got that curve back he’d be really tough.

As for Maddux’s “stuff”? He always said that his brother Mike had better stuff.
Yeah. Just like Billy Ripken was more durable than Cal, Ozzie Canseco had more power than Jose, and Sandy Alomar had better wheels than Roberto, Tommie Aaron had more power than Hank, and Mike Glavine’s circle change blew his brother’s away.

Don’t get me wrong, I think we’d be in better shape as a club if we had Meds in KK’s spot (mostly because we’d get a similar performance for about 7MM less), but really, you can’t blame Wren at all for signing KK when he did, especially because at that time Medlen’s ascent as a starter was something that I don’t think any of us could’ve forseen.
