Phillies are 1 run away from tying the number of runs they’ve scored in their previous 6 games … thanks Moylan for giving them new life

OK…I like RBI doubles, but only when the Braves hit them…
No prob! I’ve got it written down on my big schedule in my room…I’ll calculate it when this game is over.
Not sure why, but I thought you were going to the game today…
Wow. Four straight doubles.
no offense to Moylan but he doesn’t belong on any fantasy team lol what were YOU thinking?
BamaDude @ CowCollege AL
so bummed I can’t spell
One stretch earlier in the season Moylan let 3 of 5 inherited runners score. He just seems to pitch better either starting an inning or coming in bases empty
May 31st, 20103:19 pm
wow, that was a quick hook by Bobby, eh?
Rob from SC
Please get this guy out
Bottom of the order killing us again. Let’s keep the 3-run lead to make it harder for the tying run to come to the plate. Get an out and get a couple of them back!
Thank god for those insurance runs, eh!
Git ‘em Jonny
Here come the Bobby bashing comments. The guy can’t win on this blog.
If he leaves Hanson in and he gives up a couple, you guys blame Cox.
When he takes out Hanson and brings in Moylan – who is usually VERY good – you blame Cox.
Hard to win.
Now Moylan can’t get RH out
Braves should have brought in Venters to begin with!
JC from DR

Let’s trade McLouth to the Phillies… Thats the only way he can start hitting… every frikking piece of sh!t nobody can hit if playing for the Phillies…
Mr. Turnip-Green Jeans
no offense to Moylan but he doesn’t belong on any fantasy team lol what were YOU thinking?”
He wasn’t, he was fantasizing.
No matter how the starter is pitching it’s 100 pitches and out?
Trey YES!! Thank goodness for insurance runs!
Venters better get Gload out right now. I think Werth could pinch-hit next.
I hate the Phillies-could not hate a team more. Come on Braves geez-don’t choike this one away.
I had a feeling they would snap out of it like this.
Man Venters has got gas
May 31st, 20103:21 pm
Yeah, that happens every year with every negative blogger. And then as soon as one little thing goes wrong everyone starts pissing and moaning like entitled rich chicks.
So what you’re saying is that somebody who’s optimistic about the up-coming season is already a “negative blogger”?
I guess some of us never even had a chance.
But how about that 9 game losing streak when I said they’ll be a better team for it in the long run when they break out of it?
Do I get any credit for that?
Ouch that hurt =p
I HAVE A VERY BAD FEELING
phillies are never out of it with that lineup.
No doubt he was hit
damn cmon……..end this!
Bullpen looks great so far…..
May 31st, 20103:22 pm
Let me guess, now a 3-run shot to tie it?
wow, tying run comes to the plate
awful..sums up the pen so far.
Thank you Venters!!!!!!!!! Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Three run lead.
Good job Venters
ok we need some insurance runs…..
they just wanted to get the blood pumping
Whew!! Outta the inning…minimal damage.
There we go…I’d like a few runs here next inning
Steve from OH
Calm down, Rob. Take a deep breath. Go to the fridge and make yourself a sandwich. It’s ok.
thank god!!! LETS GO GET SOME RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s not camera pan to anymore signs about the Phils hitting again. That was so a jinx.
May 31st, 20103:23 pm
Time to get some runs…3 is way to close for comfort.
Way to put out the fire, Venters.
Plus, I like when Phillies get beaned, as long as it doesn’t lead to any runs scoring.
Bartholomeeeew (Bat) Masterson
Okay, lets bring the lumber….. Get ‘em Jason.
May 31st, 20103:24 pm
No. I am saying that, in general, you are a negative blogger. Find someone who disagrees with that.
Roja — I don’t know. I thought it looked a little close. Nah, I’m kidding! You can’t fake getting hit square on the hip like that. Ouch!
That was scary.
Usually close games are more enjoyable, but maybe not this particular game.
Started sweating a bit.
Venters is a helluva pitcher, and gonna get better.
I wonder if Chip is going to tell us that it is way too close for comfort again…
I’d keep Venters out there next inning. Or EOF. I really hope BC doesn’t go with Saito. Just doesn’t make sense against this lineup.
May 31st, 20103:25 pm
If Carroll can see that Moyland didn’t “have it” today; why can’t the hall of fame manager?
To bad for Peter, I was just saying yesterday you don’t want to overuse your bullpen early because that is exactly what happens. Bobby jumped the gun on this one I believe. I know Tommy’s pitch count was a little high but it was 2 outs and a 6 run lead with your bullpen having worked a lot with all those rain delays. I was kind of hoping he would leave him in to face one more batter and leave only the last two innings to the pen. Up well, still a 3 run lead with 2 innings to go. Hopefully we get some more runs.

Bobby deserves the bashing – he should have left Hanson in to finish what he started. Instead, he single-handedly changes the momentum of the game by over managing. He is way too concerned with making sure he overworks his precious bullpen at any chance he gets. Although I guess we should be thankful that it didn’t take him a month to decide to pull Moylan like it did with him starting Hinske and changing the batting order.
Come on J-Hey…let’s get it started…in the immortal words of Skip…
“A little insurance couldn’t hurt!”
I hate to bring it up, but Escobar dogging it out of the box on that would be double (when he got thrown out at 2B), may come back to roost. Not sure we get more runs that inning with McLouth and Hanson coming up (though Hanson did get a hit that AB).
But against a team as good as the Phils, regardless of how they’ve been struggling, you need to pound out every run you can get and play like you want it.
Hope that moment doesn’t come back to haunt.
Need to come right back in the bottom of the 7th and add an insurance rune (or 5).
Sopheeee I so agree!! Phils signs OFF LIMITS!!
May 31st, 20103:26 pm
CARROLL FOR MANAGER!!
Nova Scotia Steve
Phillies are never done until you get that 27th out. Sweet Jesus they can make you restless in a hurry.
here’s where i don’t make any comments about a pitcher named Bastardo!
If Bobby doesn’t go with Saito, I’d fall over with surprise. He is as by the book as they come.
May 31st, 20103:27 pm
cmon kid….nail one!
Some dude went from the broadcast booth to managing, so it ain’t unheard of.
yeah, I think I am going to have to come down on the side of Mitchell being on the negative side.. it’s a close one, but yeah…
no wait a minute, it’s not a close one at all…
Isn’t Bastardo b*stard in Spanish?
I kinda like these white hats.
I seriously doubt Saito is called on to pitch the 8th. He’s pitched 3.2 innings in the past fours days. He’s pitched in 3 of the 4 games & in two straight.
cause i said it after Moylan pitched Kentavo.
May 31st, 20103:28 pm
Trey – Yes. Bastardo = Bastard
B*stard can’t pitch.
If it’s not, it should be.
heyward didn’t do anything today. surprising
I thought about Escobar’s out at 2nd, too. But with Nate on deck swinging the bat the way he has been, I’d tell Sid Bream to try and leg out a double, too.
May 31st, 20103:29 pm
Heyward hit a triple when he went oppo field..don’t pull everything kid!
Sorry, people, I meant to type Bastardo = Ba$tard
I think it is, bastard in Spanish.
As far as names go, I’d rather be ‘Retardo’ than ‘Bastardo’. KWIM??
May 31st, 20103:30 pm
I put a comma in the wrong spot.
Nova Scotia Steve – thats why they are the luckiest team alive, you put Ruiz, Valdez, Castro and some other in another team, and they wouldnt hit water if they fell off a boat.
Hell, take the credit Carroll.
come on, anyone, does chipper look smaller?
May 31st, 20103:31 pm
LARRY! with the two hit game. git em.
I wonder why Bobby didn’t have enough faith in Tommy to at least give him a shot to get out of the inning? He’d thrown 110 pitches … so what’s a few more to try and get the guy out?
McCann going yard here!
Look who’s batting .250 all of a sudden.
do work Chipper do work.
Wasn’t Lucy’s husband named Ricky Retardo?
May 31st, 20103:32 pm
This would be a good moment for McCann to hit a home run.
Are all the Chipper haters quieted for a while? What is he, 7 for his last 12? with 7 RBI’s?
CARROLL — Any final number on the attendance at today’s game?? Thanks!
Ricky Ricardo, but close!
May 31st, 20103:33 pm
Chipper’s average up to .250
